Catgill Campsite is a brand new campsite that opened on 23rd May 2014. We are a small family run campsite, set in an amazing location, in Bolton Abbey. This is the only campsite within easy walking distance of Bolton Abbey and we are proud to occupy a unique position on the Chatsworth Estate. Our campsite has a newly built toilet and shower block with a separate wash up facility and 2 large communal fridge freezers. There is a small shop selling basic essentials and Fire pits are available to hire for all or part of your stay.
In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales with spectacular views across the Wharfe valley and close to the Dalesway footpath the area has much to offer for walkers along with many local attractions for families. There are a number of picturesque towns and villages within easy reach, for example; Skipton, Ilkley and Grassington, all with a variety of friendly pubs, award winning restaurants, coffee shops and many local seasonal events. Catgill is a perfect campsite for either an action packed family holiday or a tranquil relaxing break.
Places to visit include:
Bolton Abbey Priory and the River Wharfe:
Magnificent ruins dating back to the 12th Century, Fountain memorial, a riverside picnic area and woodland walks.
A notorious and impressive part of the Wharfe where the water from the normally wide and gently flowing river is forced at high speed through a deep and narrow channel.
Hesketh Farm Park:
A working sheep and beef farm, animals to feed and stroke, tractor tours and a straw maze.
The Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Factory:
50s style diner, serving meals throughout the day along with the famous Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream.
Bolton Abbey-Embsay Steam Railway:
Steam railway with occasional visits from Thomas the Tank Engine.
Local village with excellent pubs serving good food and local beers.
From the centre of Bolton Abbey (The Green)take the left turn and proceed for about 3/4 of a mile. The Campsite is on the right hand side.
