Baysbrown Farm Campsite is a working Lakeland hill farm and is located about 7 miles from Ambleside in the village of Chapel Stile at the entrance to the stunning Great Langdale Valley in the heart of the Lake District.
We don't have set pitches, just space. You pitch where you like and can park next to your tent. For this reason WE DO NOT TAKE BOOKINGS but operate a first come first served policy.
The view from the campsite is spectacular and is a superb location for fell walking and climbing, Routes include Bowfell, Crinkle Crags, The Langdale Pikes and Even Scafell Pike. The famous Langdale Boulders are across the road and visible from the site.
We have basic facilities which include solar powered showers, toilets, a washing up area and drinking water. We also have a waste/recycling point. We can take small campervans and motorhomes on site but have a narrow entrance with a hump bridge which makes anything larger impossible. We don't have hard standing or electric-hookup.
We charge £5 per adult per night, £3 per child under 16 per night and £2.50 per vehicle per night. We don't accept groups of more than 4 adults unless you are a family group with children under 16. We do take Duke of Edinburgh groups, Climbing/Walking clubs etc. but these must be prearranged. We do accept pets onsite for free but they must be kept under control as there is always stock nearby. We charge mobiles, camera's etc. for a fee of £2 and we can freeze ice packs.

There is the Langdale Co-op in the village with Brambles Cafe and the Wainwrights Inn. This is a 5 minute walk from the site.

When you come into the village you will se Wainwrights Inn on the left and we are the 2nd left turning after that.
The nearest train station is Windermere and the bus is the 516 Langdale Rambler from Ambleside.
