The site is in a pine plantation, on rising ground, beautifully landscaped with pitches in open clearings separated by trees, making each group of caravans very private and quiet.
The adjacent Carsington Reservoir, about 15 minutes walk from the site, is a major tourist attraction providing a variety of leisure facilities including fishing, sailing, windsurfing and childrens playground.
The site is a convenient base for walkers wishing to explore the beautiful scenery of Dovedale and the surrounding countryside. The local villages, all with excellent public houses, are within walking distances of two to three miles.
As you travel around, look out for examples of Derbyshire's homegrown art, well dressing - which happens in many villages from May to September.

From Ashbourne on A517 - in 4½m turn L at sp Carsington Water, Atlow, Hognaston; in ¾m at X-rds turn R (sp Carsington Water, Kirk Ireton, Wirksworth, Matclock). Site on R in 1m.
