Description

"A tree-lined site on the Kennet and Avon canal"

Trees from the Centenary Wood - planted in 2001- are now flourishing at this lovely Club Site on the Kennet and Avon Canal. The surrounding countryside includes some of the UK's most significant prehistoric sites - and you can visit at any time of the year. Non-Members welcome.

Walk to Devizes - four miles from the site - along the refurbished canal towpath, passing the 29 locks in the Caen Hill flight.

Devizes is a pretty market town. The museum has one of the finest prehistoric collections in Europe. Buses to the town stop near the Site.

Hire a boat on the Kennet and Avon Canal from Trowbridge or Devizes.

Bowood House and Gardens include an adventure play area and soft play palace for youngsters.

Lacock Village, Abbey and the Fox Talbot Museum are popular with visitors and film-makers alike. They are managed by the National Trust.

Longleat - star of the BBC's Animal Park - is one of the best examples of high Elizabethan architecture in Britain and has 900 acres of landscaped parkland.

Eight of the 13 known White Horses in Wiltshire are still visible as chalk figures. The Westbury White Horse is thought to be the oldest and best situated, immediately below the Iron Age hill fort of Bratton Camp.
