Overlooking magnificent views in open countryside just 4 miles East of Durham City.
We opened the park in 2002 so all our facilities are relatively new. Our shower block has heating with free hot showers and we have a fully equipped shower room for visitors who are not quite as able bodied as others.
Our laundry is equipped with a washer, dryer, spin dryer, iron and ironing board. The washing up area is under cover.
As you would expect we have gas exchange, freezer pack facility and a small shop supplying basic groceries and camping supplies. The shop also houses the reception area with plenty of tourist information on display.
We have worked hard to make the park environmentally friendly. This year alone we have planted 200 rose trees! Initially we planted over 2000 trees and shrubs to protect and enhance the natural environment.
We have a fleet of three 6-berth holiday homes available for hire which are fully equipped for that home from home experience! This accommodation has a tourist board Rose Award for standards of excellence. Minimum let is for 2 nights.
Nearby Attractions
Durham City is a short bus ride away and has the wonderful Castle and Cathedral, a World Heritage site. There is boating on the River Wear either in a rowing boat or on the Prince Bishops leisure cruiser, shopping, Crook Hall and gardens, walks and the Durham Heritage Centre.
Slightly further a field there is Beamish Open Air Museum, The Bowes Museum, Raby Castle, Hadrians wall, Hartlepool Marina, Diggerland, and many other buildings of historical interest.
Directions
Leave the A1M at J61 & take the second exit off the roundabout signposted Bowburn A177 & Peterlee.
Continue along A177 straight on through first set of traffic lights, pass Jet service station on the right, then pass the Seven Stars Pub on left.
Turn right signposted A19 Peterlee & Hartlepool.
Continue along this road passing Shincliffe Kennels. Then on past the Three Horse Shoes pub to the dual carriageway, stay in the left hand lane and 70 yards into the dual carriageway.
