The Lleyn Peninsula is home to our Club Site at Llanystumdwy (pronounced clan-eestum- dwee). On the southern shore of North West Wales, it is ideally placed for the Peninsula and Snowdonia.
The village of Llanystumdwy is a ten-minute walk away.
It has a couple of places serving meals. Criccieth Castle is still dominated by its medieval, twin-towered gatehouse.
Lloyd George - the flamboyant politician - grew up in the area. Vist the local museum dedicated to him (gwynedd.gov.uk/museums).
The delightful Italianate village of Portmeirion is to the east. It was created between 1925 and 1975. Pennarth Fawr is a medieval house with a superb carved interior.
Caernarfon is dominated by the medieval fortress of King Edward I.
Dwyfor Ranch Rabbit Farm and Farm Park is also home to Shetland ponies, lambs and goats. Children can handle the baby rabbits.
Pwllheli is a train ride up the coast. Hafan Pwllheli is one of Britain's finest marinas.
Afonwen Working Farm and Pony Trekking Centre is a good place to visit if travelling with children.
Nearby Attractions
The Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway are both narrow gauge railways in the seaport of Porthmadog.
Greenwood Forest Park has plenty to keep children occupied, including a big bouncing pillow.
The magnificent scenery of Snowdonia National Park is to the east and the rolling hills of the Lleyn Peninsula are to the west - both areas are ideal walking country.
A weekly ticket for buses and trains is a great way to explore North Wales.
The Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth makes a great day trip to see eco-friendly techniques at work
