This fantastic site has much to offer with relaxing river and countryside walks and contemporary art, on a historic mill site, with the East Lancashire steam railway passing by.
This Country Park is easily accessible, situated just north of Bury Town centre and is handy for trips into the buzzing metropolis of Manchester with the tramlink nearby.
The park is based around the River Irwell and the remains of two cotton mills - Higher Woodhill Mill and Burrs Mill. Extensive development of the mill sites has left interesting archaeological remains and water course through the site.
There are many opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as climbing, abseiling and is ideal for canoeists of all levels, from the purpose built training pool to slalom courses on the river. The site also has many trails and a permanent orienteering trail.
After a hard day's sightseeing, The Brown Cow pub next door slakes many a thirst.
