Located on the edge of a hamlet deep in the heart of the Limousin countryside, a place for those who want absolute peace and quiet,where you can experience the magic of untouched nature and where you can slow down and relax. One client described it as a place for God and friends.
We are situated in the regional National Park of the Plateau de Millevaches,one of France's main water sources a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty -woods,lakes,rivers& hamlets.
It is beautiful all year round; abundant growth in spring, hot summers and in Sept Oct & Nov Indian Summer weather against the backdrop of extraordinary autumn leaf color.
It's a small campsite of 25 pitches on 5 acres of meadows. It has a wonderful variety of mature trees and shrubs and abundant bird life. (Bring your binoculars)
Electric hook ups are available.
In response to one of our reviews, for the months of July and August we have now designated one of our fields as a quiet area.
We also rent one large fully equipped trailer tent.
We have first class sanitary facilities,including disabled shower & toilet,
A reed bed system for waste water and a full recycling policy.
There is a games room in one of our barns,fridges and 2 washing machines.
Sumptuous evening meals prepared with our own and local produce are also available in our B&B farmhouse if you want a break from the campsite, or for the first/last evening of your stay. We can also supply homemade bread, preserves and home grown vegetables.
Nearby Attractions
This is the place for you if you want deep countryside and like walking, cycling or horse riding; the entire region is criss-crossed with paths and bridleways of various length and difficulty.
The Lac de Vassiviere, one of Frances largest inland lakes, is only 20 minutes away, where you can enjoy all kinds of water sports and of course fishing. There are also sandy beaches for swimming, picnics and childrens activities.
Bourganeuf, a charming small town with a remarkable history, is just 4miles away with a friendly market on Wednesday mornings. Aubusson renowned for its tapestry is 30 minutes away. There are many beautiful and historic buildings and churches notably St Leonard de Noblat and Ahun de Moutier.
Directions
The village of Chignat (38 inhabitants) is situated in the Creuse, in Limousin in the middle of France, at 1725 feet altitude, 4miles to the south east of Bourganeuf and 33 miles east of Limoges.
At the fountain roundabout in Bourganeuf take the N141 direction Lac de Vassiviere after 250 m take the turning to your right the D8 for Lac de Vassiviere. After 3Km look out for our signs,they are blue,and turn left on the D37 to Chignat.
Follow the road to Chignat, Les Quatre Saisons has enormous Art Nouveau gates, you turn left at the gates up a little lane to the camp entrance.
