For visitors who have been before, Mrs Smalley has now officially retired and her daughter-in-law Sandra (or Daisy as she is known to most) has taken over the running of the site with help from the family.
A two acre 12 van grass touring site situated in a sunny secluded part of our lovely working arable and beef farm overlooking the Mill pond and Old Mill buildings. We are ten minutes drive from Holy Island (Lindisfarne)and many choose us as their base whether they are walking, cycling or driving across to the Island as there is no camping or touring site allowed actually on Holy Island.
The site is all grass. The main area is predominantly level and there is a partly sloping area within the walled garden that accommodates four vans. There are some sites very suitable for motor homes. Tents are taken by arrangement.
The site has electric hook ups for 12. There is a utility block with three w.c.'s. a shower room, a large wet room (both with electric showers), a dishwashing room and an information room. The site and facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness.
There are excellent walks around the farm and surrounding hills. A map of the farm and further details are provided in the information room. Well behaved dogs are welcome. We positively encourage visitors to walk around the farm and enjoy the great views! We are also very happy to answer any questions anyone has about the farm, local history etc. We have dark skies to be enjoyed and although we are not within walking distance of the nearest pub there are two in Lowick village which is only two miles away.
The site is open from Easter to the end of October and advanced booking is essential during the holiday periods. Please ring or email for available dates. A deposit is required with each booking unless you are arriving at the last minute in which case please just ring for availability. You will need cash or a cheque book to pay as we cannot take cards.
Visitors are most welcome to explore and enjoy the farm - there are spectacular views of the coast from the hills and foxes and roe deer are a relatively common sight together with many varieties of birds, depending on the season. We are within fifteen minutes drive of Northumberland National Park to the west, the Scottish border to the north and even closer to miles of uncrowded sandy beaches to the east. Nearby there are many good golf courses, horse riding and permit fishing on the River Till. The farm is one mile from the 'St Cuthbert's Walk'.
Further inland there are a wealth of historic homes open to the public including Alnwick Castle and the now famous Alnwick Garden, Cragside, Chillingham Castle, Floors Castle to mention but a few.
Take the B6353 off A1 9 miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed, 52 miles north of Newcastle, the road sign posted to Lowick. West Kyloe is signed 1 mile up that road.
Please switch off sat navs when leaving the A1 and follow written directions. Please come down the drive to the stable yard where you will see a sign for the reception room. We do ask that ALL arrivals sign the visitors book with their name and vehicle reg please. Payment is by cash or cheque only.
