Visited this campsite a few times en-route to Scotland, and enjoyed it both times. It offers really lovely views and is surrounded by mountains, and there are great walks all around it, including ones to the nearby Castlerigg stone circle. It is just a few miles from Keswick where there are plenty of local facilities and eat-out places.
The campsite itself is large, and is very popular so tends to be very busy. They have a limited number of showers so could do with some more, they only have 2 in the womens' so sometimes there are queues.
There is a policy not to allow noise after 10pm which is good as it's quite an open and popular site (other than dogs barking - their take on this was 'can't stop that, and kids as they don't know better. ')
This year there were a lot of very boggy patches on the pitch areas, so we had to be careful to choose a dry place, just due to excessive rainfall over the months.
The only downside I think about this campsite is they charge 50p for a shower, which I think is a bit much considering the campsite itself isn't that cheap just for a tent. We stayed in many other campsites through Scotland and only one other charged for a shower, the rest consider the fee pays for the facilities.
Other than that, the owners are friendly and helpful and we love this campsite and definitely will go again.

This site is my favourite site ever! I love everything about it. The view are just stunning from all around, I really can't tell you how lovely they are. The facilities are just what you need - toilets, showers and wash basins. The showers take 50p and last about three minutes. Always hot and powerful and felt good after a days walking in the fells.
They aren't on the mains, so the water is brown, but is just as clean and passes all the various tests. If you're not keen, grab a 5ltr bottle from Booths Supermarket which is just a few miles away (along with many many more shops covering all needs).
We had a very friendly greeting from the owner, the signs everywhere telling you to keep quiet do make it seem like it could be a bit of a 'too many rules site' but they work and I don't think you'd pick the site if you wanted late nights.
We will be back next year. Really enjoyed our stay here.

This site operates on a first come first served basis, so get there early. Their prices are reasonable and they are keen to point out the 'Quiet after 10:30' rule, which suited me fine. The staff are very friendly and are quite tolerant of children.
The views are fantastic, when the rain clouds lift to show them, which as a result had left the camping field rather wet, but was not as boggy as some I have experienced in the Lakes. The facilities include a sizable utility building, however the pot wash area was a bit cramped, but I didn’t experience any queuing. All facilities were kept clean. They are not on mains water at this site and, although safe to drink, it has a brown colour to it. The reception also serves as a small shop.
The Hayloft is an on site cafe which is open at breakfast and tea time, again reasonably priced.
This site is definitely on the visit again list.

I would use this site again next time I'm down in Keswick, I found the staff to be most helpful and welcoming.
You pay in the little office at the entrance to the site and get told to find your own pitch and park your car facing down hill just in case it rains.
Pitches are a bit random and I feel and bit of order would be better but this is just a very small gripe to this site.
I did rain quite a bit when I was there but the ground drained very well.
As said I will be using this site again just hope we have better weather next time but its the lakes so we will see

I was given a very warm and friendly welcome as I have on every visit to this site.
This is a well run family orientated site with spectacular viewes in just about every direction.
The camping field slopes gently but this isn't a problem. Even though there had been heavy rain I managed to find a reasonably dry pitch.
As has been mentioned the site does not have 'mains' water and hence the 50p charge for showers. This gives 3 1/2 mins which is adequate and prevents wastage. The peaty looking drinking water looks rather unappealing but is said to be regularly quality tested and safe. Bottled water can be bought from Booths supermarket in the town for those who prefer a more conventional looking alternative
The 'Quite after 10:30pm' is welcome and seems to be adhered to to by everyone.
It's a real pleasure to stay here and if the weather is good the setting is idyllic

Brilliant, we turned up after deciding against another site so didn't know what to expect. The site was clean and had everything we needed, the shop was reasonably priced.
The views are amazing whichever direction you look. The staff were friendly and helpful. Even though it rained heavily several times whilst we were there the site didn't become boggy as expected.
We found Booths supermarket in Keswick was the best place for supplies and they refund your parking ticket when you shop and park there.
We did Skiddaw, Cat Bells, Maiden Moor and High Spy whilst we were there, take plenty of food/water to do the latter (and sun cream!).
We will definitely be returning again soon
