We've stayed at this site twice. Once in 2006 for a week and again in July 07. The pitches are OK, a few are not quite level enough for our liking but on the whole they were a reasonable size and well serviced. On the plus side you can pre-book pitch numbers so if you were to see a pitch you fancy you can pre-book it for your next visit. The facilities are always clean and hot water is plenty. This is, however, a campsite you need good weather for so that you can make the most of the good choice of activities available. We will visit again as we enjoyed both our stays.

This is the kid's favourite site. It kept them occupied for hours. The pitches are huge (probably the biggest we've seen), we were next to a wooded area and the pitches were slightly sloping. (check when booking) This site is VERY popular and busy in high season so book way in advance. The park is large in a woodland/riverside setting. Lots for the kids to do - large playlake with wooden pirate ship (wetsuits and dinghies/inflatables recommended), snake slides, spider webs, ropes over water, outdoor pool (free), tennis (free), there are also "outdoor persuits" run by a separate company where you can go on high zipwires, hire indian canoes and rock climb indoors (charge for all these - but well worth it).

The takeaway was ok, if a little expensive.but Ashburton is nearby if you need to get anything.

In my opinion the best site in Devon if your kids are the "outdoors" type and you want to sit back and relax whilst the kids tire themselves out.

This was the first yearly outing with the tent and as a family we were more than happy with the location and facilities. We really enjoyed the variety of different activities located within the grounds. The communal blocks were clean and warm and no queueing either! Big thumbs up and if we ever get more than 48hrs of continuous sunshine we shall be speeding down the M5 to come here again.

We stopped at this site during the wettest weather in 50 years and finally gave in when gales arrived. The site has the most fabulous location and is well situated for south Devon. Lots to do on site and the pirate ship was a firm favourite with my son age 4.

Considering the weather the site held up well and while others closed in the area it remained open some pitches fared better than others the upper village green and the meadow area seemed the best.

The site does need some updating the swimming pool is old and not very nice and most certainly needs to be replaced. The village green amenity block is very old and quite grim more like a 2 star AA and not the 4 star it has a present (but I understand it has been down graded) the toilets are small and the shower not nice at all.

The meadow block is better but still not up to the standards of other sites.

Also it well worth knowing the house the site is built around is used for corporate events and weddings, like this weekend certain parts of the site is closed for a wedding including the swimming pool. (you don't get a refund for lack of facilities)

The site needs to decide what it wants to be if they want to be a 4/5 star campsite then it needs to do some updating. Saying all that I would go back but I would wait to tell they have upgraded.

This was our first family camping trip and due to the weather could have been our last (wife cold blooded!) but the kids thought it was fantastic with loads of activities cleverly hidden out sight,slides/fort/zip wire/
climbing nets/pirate ship etc, plus a small outdoor swimming pool but most kids opting for the river instead (don`t forget your wet suits kids!).The site itself as mentioned by others is well looked after by a very helpful staff and this is reflected by the high standard this 90 acre site offers with fantastic gardens and a large selection of wildlife. The washing up stations and toilets were kept clean throughout the day with laundry rooms close by also with freezers for your ice packs. Most of these comments have been mentioned by others in the past but worth a mention is the new bar/bistro which has just been completed and looks very smart indeed offering a selection of hot/cold food which was also to a high standard.
Ashburton is the nearest town with about 5 pubs a small Spar and Somerfields and your average selection of shops,I only ventured into 1 pub The Oak beer was ok but the food seemed
overpriced for what it was.give it a miss.Days out try the moors for walking (take care with the weather) or why not take a trip to Dartmouth.Kids can't wait for the next visit just hope its warmer!.

Revisited Bank Holiday weekend after a lovely weekend at beginning of month. Site was busy but not overcrowded. Nothing too much bother for Tristan and Brett the campsite wardens .The best thing of all was the new bar was open - large, clean, bright ,warm - and the food was well priced, quickly served and tasty! A family of 4 ate for 26 with drinks on top - typical pub grub, but hot and plentiful. Tables were very quickly cleared and wiped and nothing was too much bother for any of the staff! The weather was disappointing, but the wardens ensured the campers were okay and arranged and helped to move those who were flooded. We will be back!
