Overall a great site. We went with our two children and two other families- 6 children age range 2-6. The atmosphere on the site was great.

Arrived just over an hour before 3pm check in time and were taken straight to pitch. We were in Coombe meadow, right next to small playground, ideal as children could play alone and be seen at all times! Only small moan is that older children & teenagers often decided to use playground to meet between 10 & 12pm, although always obliged when we asked them to leave or quieten down. Short walk upto clubhouse/shop/pool.

Showers/Loos- Not the cleanest I have ever seen- they only seem to clean at eye level so the walls were quite grubby. The mens toilets were not as clean as the ladies, in the cleaners defence it seemed someone staying at the site had some quite disgusting habits- cleaner can not be on duty 24/7. The showers were mostly hot in the ladies, apparently my husband had a few cold ones though. Biggest complaint was that most of the showers only last 5 seconds before the button needs pressing again- understand the need to conserve water but 5 seconds much too short.

Shop/Cafe- Shop stocked all the essentials and quite a bit more- no fresh bread though. Lots of kids medicines/toys & treats. Fairly pricey but not the worst campsite shop I have seen. Cafe was OK, good breakfast- 2 full english for 7. Also small takewaway menu.

Disco- Childrens games after bingo so 8-9.30 a bit late for the very young children. Generally good music and nice atmosphere.

Pool- Very busy in hot weather but always managed to find at least one chair to put our things on. Pool is lifeguard attended during the day. Main pool slightly heated but still chilly! Toddler pool not heated at all which was a shame.

Staff were hardworking & friendly. Excellent bird of prey display on Thursday mornings and animal show on Friday mornings- kids were mesmerized. I probably would return to Whitehill and would give it 8/10.

This is a large site that caters for tents and caravans and is spread over numerous fields. We booked this site based on the amenities and location. We were travelling in a small group with no children.

We had been given a tent pitch on the top of a hill, underneath a pylon (which buzz as soon as it rained)this however wasn't a problem as we were visiting the site for a well earned weekend break and to let our hair down). The pitch was extremely windy and proved highly challenging to lit the BBQ. The Toilets were portaloo's and a little smelly. We later visited the bar which was full of kids, running back and forth between the bar and disco, not really enjoyable if you don't have kids so decided to have some drinks at the tent instead.

We made friends with a adjacent tent and sat chatting into the early hours. A chap came over to the tent around 12am and asked if we would turn our music down which we replied that we would turn it off and apologised as we hadn't thought the wind would carry the noise from the tiny speakers so far. We continued to chat and retired around 2am (it was a friday night).

Next day we went out into Torquay and had a lovely day exploring - when we returned we had a note on the tent asking us to report to reception. On route to reception we were shouted at by a member of staff to go to reception (which we were on route to), whilst in reception we were told our noise from the night before was sooo excessive we were to leave the site immediately. We were not given the opportunity to defend ourselves and as it had gone 4pm we needed to pack up quickly and find another campsite.

This site was very beautiful and had a outdoor headed pool (which we didn't get to use as asked to leave so late in the day).

This site is focused on familys and children. We were later told that there is to be NO noise after 11pm which I think is silly rule as even children cry during those hours.

We just keep coming back here as its a great site.

Not really altered that much in 3 years.

If you want better views book for Sweet Hills, but be warned the showers are a walk down a steep slope. Nothing too strenuous and literally walked in 30 seconds. If you prefer the amenities closer then book into the other two fields. They have added power supplies to nearly all pitches for this year so a lot more choice for the 'comfy campers' like us.

There is a great 'jungle gym' style climbing frame for the kids to explore, and wildlife spotting too. Rabbits and Birds of Prey chiefly.

As always the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The pool was great with a very attentative lifeguard at all times.

We were a little disappointed by two things this year however. The kiddie disco was not on the Friday or Saturday nights at the end of our 9 days - much to the disappointment of my daughters as they were really looking forward to it after enjoying it so much the last two years. Also no hot water for washing up on the Sweet Hills field. A bit annoying but got to say not going to stop us going back year after year - this campsite just ticks all the boxes.

Its tucked away in the fields and trees so you really feel away from it all, and yet so much on the doorstep!

A big Morrisons and Sainsburys literally 5 minutes away in the car so shopping is no problem (if of course the well stocked camp shop can't help). If you don't fancy cooking, McDonalds and KFC also close by plus chippys and takeaways galor in Paignton and Torquay. Plus of course some lovely pubs serving great food.

Beach wise there are several close by. Torquay and Paignton a little disappointinmg, but Goodrington Sands quite nice, and several more worth rooting out - Broadsands is excellent.

The list goes on really - so much to do! Model Village, Zoo, Sealife, Bygones, Goodrington Water Park, Paignton Pier, Amusement Arcades, Brixham Harbour (with a neat replica of the Golden Hind I might add) - so much to do and only 2 weeks to do it in!

Again we recommend this site - we keep going back year after year!

Second time we have visited this site for our two week main holiday, we love it here. When you check in one of the wardens on a golf buggy shows you to your pitch which are mostly level and of a good size so large tents are ok.
Toilet blocks are basic but always have hot water and are clean. There is a new shower block at the bottom of the hill which is massive so no queues and there is a really good mirrored area with plugs for your hairdryer and straightener.
Entertainment is great (although the club is quite small) with quizzes, bingo and games for the kids. The pool is medium sized so on hot days it does get crowded but it rained every day we were there so no problem for us! Decent cafe and shop on site and kids activities during the day.
Lovely site, helpful staff and reasonably priced. Worth going to Goodrington Sands, great for rock pooling and watching the steam trains and there's even a cafe and toilets. Perfect!

Stayed here in may 09 on sunny bank holiday weekend. Site set in beautiful countryside a few miles inland from paignton. The site was very busy but never felt crowded. We were given a flat marked pitch, with hook up with a gap between pitches for a fire break (most parked their cars in these spaces ,as , like us, our tent filled the pitch). Some pitches were very steep.

The pool was warm clean and had a lifeguard on duty. Very pleasant clubhouse bars and cafe. Shop was very well stocked. A craft room for children was a lovely touch .

Toilet blocks were very clean, as were the showers and lots of hot water, all free. Indoor washing up facilities were in the toilet block hand washing area. A little odd.

Limited play facilities for children but lots of space to kick a ball etc.

I would always check to see if the pitch you have been given is suitable as there were several steep slopes I certainly would be disappointed to be pitching on. We have a large tent and flat pitch is vital to us.

A happy stay as we were dry but rain and slopes could have made it troublesome.

We arrived end May and stayed until 7th June 09.

On arrival the site seemed well organised and quiet. We deliberately chose this time of year to avoid crowds.

Having had correspondence with the site already via email, I was already pleased with the customer service. We were able to hire a buggy for 10 for the week.

The weather was glorious and our 2 year old was able to swim in the heated pool nearly every day, however if it was not heated it would have been too cold.

The pitch was generous, we were in Coombe Meadow in the mid 50's- the pitch was requested and well located.

Had the campsite been at capacity then we would have felt quite hemmed in and not sure how well the facilities would cope.Having stayed and taken other reviews into consideration, I can see why other people have perhaps had issues with the site at peak times.

We did not use the bar- so no comment. Except it was quiet and we were not bothered by noise.

The cafe is reasonable- not cheap and not cordon bleu, but the basics are alright - especially if you're really hungry!

Shop- well stocked, but not the cheapest option.

The nearest toilets and shower block were always clean (use the ones in the great orchard if you can be bothered to walk that far - two family rooms) but I hated the fact that the washing up facilities were in with the sinks and there is a nappy changing unit and bin right next to the sinks, this is not hygienic!

The children's playground was well located and in good condition and my son had to be dragged off to bed under duress from it most times.

Lots of wildlife around and rabbit spotting is fun!

Only other gripe, given our location was the rat racing on the road next to the campsite- to Stoke Gabriel.

Woods are lovely.

Local attractions: Paignton - not so impressed. Brixham alright, nice harbour but shops are limited. Torquay nicer than expected, the harbour has been regenerated.

We Visited the Zoo - great, Living Coasts- absolutely brilliant, the Paignton- Dartmouth railway(do the boat trip as well if you can).

Goodrington Sands beach -alright for rockpooling- check times though.

Brilliant restaurant called the Seahorse in Dartmouth - most amazing fish.

Morrisons and Sainsburys very close.
