We have been to hook farm for 2 years running now and find it delightful. Our love of Lyme Regis and surrounding countryside is strongly felt and was formed some years ago touring the southwest coast. The only changes in thirty years of camping I've noticed has been the parents, the playstation and telly are to blame for they are far to easy a method of occupying children. But the environment a camp site offers is exciting and goes back to our primal instincts and an unoccupied child will go ballistic not having yet acquired self control. We were there in aug/sept and there was for one morning from A group of families all traveling together a lapse in parental control they must have read the rules as did we all but chose to allow there children to exit the tents early on there first morning rather than occupying them. If this was annoying comments could have been made to Mr and Mrs Morgan and we are sure it would have been dealt with in a professional and sympathetic manner as we have always known them to act. We can only sing there praises and look forward to staying there again to enjoy the peace, scenery and exemplary facilities to which I believe they are adding all the time.

Excellent site - quiet and peaceful with tiered pitches providing good shelter and wonderful views of the valley. New toilet and shower block kept spotlessly clean and with more than adequate facilities, including hair dryer and electrical plug in socket - 20p per shower / hairdryer. Site shop disappointing, however there is a well stocked local shop in the village 400 yards away. Village pub does an excellent sirloin steak and a good pint. Lyme Regis only 30 minutes walk away with excellent Restaurants - would also recommend the riverside walk into Lyme Regis which will take a little longer but is well worth it. This might be the jurassic coast but there is nothing jurassic about this campsite! Will hopefully be returning in the future.

Lovely site set in a nice part of Dorset. I don't remember hearing any traffic noise and there was greenery everywhere!
The people on the site are very efficient and friendly, the pitches clearly set out if a bit stoney for our tent pegs' liking. The pub at the end of the lane did good food and were friendly, and it stayed open past midnight which we enjoyed. Their various Otter bitters were quenching and moreish.
The toilet and shower compound was brilliant (made us gasp at first sight!) with sufficient numbers of loos and sinks, all kept very clean. The shop was not open which was disappointing, as we still paid high-season rates. There was however a village shop at the bottom of the lane which was only a few minutes walk away.
Charmouth beach was fantastic for fossil hunting.less "hunting" more "finding in the hundreds"! Lyme Regis beach was also pleasant - good luck parking close by though.

We stayed for a weekend at this campsite, with various plans for the weekend away.
Arriving at about 7:30pm we were checked in easily enough and given a list of rules, and they specifically pointed out the leaving by 11am rule and the no noise after 11pm rule.
After being very quiet (not a problem) on both nights we stayed, we were woken up before 7am by screaming children.
The leaving by 11am was a nightmare - getting up early, packing up our vehicles, firing up the cobb for breakfast and so forth meant we just about managed to leave by 11:45. Having a vehicle full of expensive camping equipment meant we had to go straight home on the Sunday rather than actually using it as a holiday day (having to actually cancel arrangements we had made). Had we been aware of this we would have made arrangements to be able to stay until Monday or chosen a different site.
We were not made aware of any such rules when we booked, nor are they mentioned on the website. When booking the only issues we were made aware of was that we had to arrive by 9pm and the 11pm quiet rule.
So, after having spent around £100 in fuel alone to get to this site we ended up having to be very quiet and yet were woken up early and had to cut our holiday short.
However, the toilet/shower block was exceptional, the owner was polite and friendly, the local facilities great (excellent local pub with great food and late opening) and beautiful views from the site.

A very busy site which coped well with the large influx of visitors. The tent sites are very generous in proportions and the site is terraced so it retains the small friendly appeal. The toilet block was generally pretty clean but there were often queues for the showers- although well worth the wait and the 20p! A lovely walk from the site down to Lyme Regis along the river.

Just spent bank holiday weekend at Hook Farm; tents were quite packed together but then it was the busiest weekend of the year! They have 2 shower / toilet blocks; the toilet facilities are fine but only 5 showers (and only 4 of them working) for the ladies for a site this size is a problem, the queues were fairly long by about 8.30am. Small shop on site which sells the essentials and the nearest pub is about 5 minutes walk away. If you are a serious camper and like the freedom of the outdoors then this site is definitely not for you! Rules, rules and more rules! We were told to turn our radio (solar powered so not really that powerful!) down at 9pm, even though the rules state quiet after 11pm, although it seemed perfectly acceptable to have children running around screaming at the top of their voices at 6.30am! There is a lovely walk along the river into Lyme Regis (approx 40 mins) and the town itself it lovely; all in all a good weekend but I won't be visiting Hook Farm again.

Had a family get together at site, 3 pitches side by side, could have got 3 more on. Ideal size for kids. Shop limited but owners and staff are great really helpful and friendly. This site is definitely up and coming, chuck a better stocked shop and maybe a games room or small clubhouse it would make ideal touring site. Will definitely stay again

Love this site. Rural yet walkable into Lyme Regis - especially good following riverside walk into town. Great views from top field across the valley. Shop basic but redeemed by croissants and pain au chocolat for breakfast. Relaxed but quiet atmosphere on site. If you have children, be aware that play area is very small. However, play area in village of Uplyme at bottom of hill is fine. Extremely helpful owners. Pub in walking distance if you need one.

We stayed for 3 nights on two pitches. The pitch was a good size and level despite being on a hilly site as it has been very well terraced and landscaped. The ground is quite hard and rocky in places, you might want to bring a few heavy duty pegs just in case. We backed on to small brook / stream, but there is a large bank and it proved no danger for our children ( 3 and 7).
The toilet blocks are excellent, always clean and never too busy. A family room would be a nice touch as some sites have though.
There is a small shop with the essentials and a small children's play area. Otherwise its a nice simple site - just the way we like it.
The area is lovely, really enjoyed looking for fossils at nearby Charmouth and Lyme Regis is a nice seaside town.
We would definitely recommend this well run quiet site and will put it in our books if we visit the area again.
