We received a nice friendly welcome from the duty wardens and shown to our decent sized pitch.

The site is an excellent base for the city of Oxford with the park and ride service close to the site. Abingdon and Blenheim Palace are also not far away.

As has been said the toilet block is rather dated. According to the handbook they were refurbished in 2009! I do object to some other persons shower water swilling through my shower whilst I am getting dry.

Great site for easy access to Oxford, 15 mins walk along the road to the city centre or 25/30 mins along the Thames towpath, past the college boat houses, to the city centre.

Good sized pitch which got a bit muddy but that's hardly surprising
with the amount of rain we have had. The welcome was friendly and the nice man showed us to a choice of pitch even though it was raining.

The showers and toilets are a bit dated but very clean as you would expect from a C&CC site. Although the site was almost full it was almost silent by 9 at night, there is slight road / rail noise but didn't bother us and you have to expect some noise being close to the city. Access to the site is via gates with codes to open the gates and the gates are locked at 11.

Oxford is a great place to visit, we had 2 whole days walking round, some great pubs too!

One word of warning, you have to go through the Go Outdoors carpark to access the site and if you are a sucker like me for camping gadgets you need to be careful!

Overall a good site especially for visiting the city and exploring the Thames.

Have just spent a wonderful four night break here. We were met by friendly wardens who gave us a choice of where we would like to pitch. No matter where you pitch you are never far from the toilets or showers as they are central to the site.

The toilets and showers are being updated at the end of this month as they are looking old and shabby but none the less they were spotless and had plenty of hot water.

You actually enter the site through a car park at the large Go Outdoors shop which sells everything and anything to do with the great outdoors. You can also take your dog in the shop providing it is on its lead which is great.

Just across the road from the site is the Park & Ride and it is a must. It costs 2.00 pp if two are travelling together and again dogs can travel on the bus free of charge.

Oxford has so much to see and do and it is an educating place just walking around and studying the buildings and gardens.

Lovely campsite close to Oxford.

Showers ok but being updated end of season so should be good for next year.

Staff very friendly and helpful.

Only one thing we didn't like - the toilets/shower block closes between 10.30 and 12 each day for cleaning. I don't have a problem with closing the facilities for cleaning but feel these times are the wrong times to do it especially as there are no alternatives. We had children and as we had no toilet found this very inconvienient. It was also a pain on the day you have to leave as you have to be off site by 12. This means that you cant use the toilet before leaving for home - again difficult with children!

The fact the the site was next to a Go Outdoors store was also a apin as we ended up spending a fortune! Seriously though you had to walk/drive down the side of the store to get to the site. Not a problem when it was light but very dark and lonely when dark.

Apart from that a great site

We stayed here for a few days last week and really enjoyed it. Although we are Caravan Club members, Bladon Chains is just too far out of Oxford and the situation of the C&CC site makes it a much better option for visiting the city.

Good sized pitches (we were on a corner with lots of room) and reasonable facilities make up for the expensive (if non-members) fees of over 25 per night for the 2 of us in a caravan with EHU.

The walk into Oxford via the Thames is great, as are the very frequent buses (we chose to walk up to the Abingdon Road / Chatham Street stop which has one arriving every few minutes).

Recommended for anyone wanting to visit Oxford City.

This site is about location. Perfectly placed to explore Oxford on bus, bicycle or foot. Park & Ride opposite. Very pleasent and safe cycling route into Oxford via Thames towpath (approx 1 mile) directly into centre of city.

Highly recommend a visit to Magdelen college buildings & gardens.

Because of city centre location the site is relatively noisy but not overly so (earplugs may a good idea if you are a light sleeper).

Washing facilities are basic (though clean) and tight for space.

Not a good site for children as limited space to play in and ball games, frisbees etc are not allowed. Basic local park is next door be requires a walk onto main road to get to.

My understanding is that this site is going to be revamped and improved in time for 2010 season. If correct this will turn a site worth visiting into one of the best around.
