We visited this site 3 years on the trot, and each year it gets better.
The first year we visited, it was kaos! but isn't that what camping is about! This year has been the best, the slip road wasn't as fearful as in the past, toilets were kept clean at all times. Peter, the owner is lovely, its amazin, what the owners puppy, called Flo, and a giant haystack can do for kids of all ages.

We went with a big group, which included vfoxyness, previous reviewer, lots of kids and 2 dogs, camp fires galore and a really friendly atomosphere. I have just had the booking confirmed for 07, and will be doing it for 5 days this time, as opposed to a weekend.
If basic is what you like, and providing your own amusement, this is the place for you.

Second year in a row for us at this site. Fantastic all round. Owner is very friendly, welcoming and informative. Showers and toilets were clean and tidy. Camped in a big group, lovely to site around camp fire in an evening.

Shame site is not open for longer, will go back next year. If my memory serves me correctly the access road has improved 100% from last year.

10 out of 10 for this camp site

Wow! What a fantastic site. Seven huge fields with masses of space no matter how many people are around. Peter the site owner is a really nice guy, very laid back. There are very few rules and without any "shed-draggers" on site, the canvas brigade can get down to some back to basics camping.

The facilities are quite basic but clean and kept in good working order. Toilets are sheds with proper flushing wc or "hole-in-the-ground" up in the top fields. The showers are solar powered and there was always plenty of hot water. Kids can play on the haystacks provided which were fun, or they can walk the farmer's dogs which proved a popular pastime! There is a fantastic beach (shingle) which you can reach via a steep path. Nightlife was the main attraction for us: This meant lighting the camp fire, eating dinner, drinking lots of wine, toasting marshmallows and singing with the kids until the fire was just embers. We'd lay under the black sky watching shooting stars before retiring to bed!

If you want, amusement arcades, dodgems, nightclubs and cheesey entertainment then don't come here. But, if you want to get away from it all without a tourer in sight, then book up now for next August and enjoy!

Excellent campsite if you like basic no rules camping.  The location is beautiful!  Plenty of space and can camp where you want; no restrictions on group size, time of arrival, departure etc.

Shop sells a variety of organic produce which is excellent and there is a Coop and Spar shop a short drive away.

Being able to have a campfire was excellent and you are allowed to collect wood from all around the campsite.

The only downside is the track in and out of the site; one car wide with not many places to pass; can get a bit hairy when its been raining and its slippery and several cars are trying to get through.

We arrived at Eweleaze late on Thursday afternoon. We've never taken the children camping before, so it was a bit of a test. Aged 2 and 3 we thought maybe it would be a mistake. But we all loved it.
There was so much space they were running around without disturbing anyone. It was lovely to sit around a BBQ in the evening and see the camp fires dotted around the land-scape.
The toilet facilities were very basic, but adequate and the solar showers were always hot. Also the bacon from the shop is amazing. We stayed till Sunday and although more people came at the weekend there was still masses of space.

Will definitely go again.

Great Site.

Loved the campfires, and the children loved playing on the haystacks. They made loads of friends, which meant we only really saw them when it was time to eat or drink, leaving us plenty of time to relax.

I was dreading the showers, having heard how basic they were, but they were marvelous, especially after dark when is was a bit like being in a log cabin.

Never caught any fish, but it was fun trying. The meat from the farm shop was excellent.

Planning to go back this weekend.

Has anyone been this year? Any changes? Is the access track still as bad, as we were wondering if we needed to take a 4x4 this time!

Thanks, Dave
