We stayed here for a few days last week and really enjoyed it. Although we are Caravan Club members, Bladon Chains is just too far out of Oxford and the situation of the C&CC site makes it a much better option for visiting the city.

Good sized pitches (we were on a corner with lots of room) and reasonable facilities make up for the expensive (if non-members) fees of over 25 per night for the 2 of us in a caravan with EHU.

The walk into Oxford via the Thames is great, as are the very frequent buses (we chose to walk up to the Abingdon Road / Chatham Street stop which has one arriving every few minutes).

Recommended for anyone wanting to visit Oxford City.

This site is about location. Perfectly placed to explore Oxford on bus, bicycle or foot. Park & Ride opposite. Very pleasent and safe cycling route into Oxford via Thames towpath (approx 1 mile) directly into centre of city.

Highly recommend a visit to Magdelen college buildings & gardens.

Because of city centre location the site is relatively noisy but not overly so (earplugs may a good idea if you are a light sleeper).

Washing facilities are basic (though clean) and tight for space.

Not a good site for children as limited space to play in and ball games, frisbees etc are not allowed. Basic local park is next door be requires a walk onto main road to get to.

My understanding is that this site is going to be revamped and improved in time for 2010 season. If correct this will turn a site worth visiting into one of the best around.

Very noisy site woken at 6.45 every morning by train horn, that is if not already woken by express dairy loading wagons. Toilets and showers could do with updating and better hot water system as ran out at 8.30 in the morning so couldn't wash up. The plus side is its only 10 mins into the centre of Oxford on a bike or the bus use the park & ride.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon to be greeted by friendly wardens who showed us to the area they wanted us to pitch then gave us a choice of three. Our son was travelling down after work to join us and we were told he could park next to our unit when he arrived as long as it was before 11p.M. When the barrier is locked for the night (accessed by a 4 figure code during the day). We were told if he was later he could park in the Go Outdoors car park immediately in front of the site, although I think we would have used the park and ride opposite instead because of the large signs saying 'no overnight parking' at Go Outdoors.

Access to the site is along a narrow lane leading through the car park which gets very busy at weekends. They had car park attendants on duty allowing cars through one at a time when spaces became available, but this meant that when we wanted to return to the campsite for lunch midday on Saturday we had no choice but to wait in the queue until we finally got to the front.

The park and ride is certainly convenient and efficient for travelling into Oxford and we also followed the instructions given by the wardens to follow the lovely riverside walk into Oxford town centre too.

The shower blocks had only three working showers each and long queues to use them in the mornings. The numerous washbasins were rarely used and we felt it would be better use of space to install more showers in their place. On the second morning, the water had run cold by the time I reached the front of the queue so we used the shower in the motorhome for the final day.

I would use the site again because of the easy access into Oxford, but would probably try to avoid moving in or out of the site during busy shop opening times; and I would rely on the motorhome's bathroom facilities unless the shower block is updated.

Bank Holiday weekend and wanting to combine camping trip with a visit to see son at one of the colleges. Delighted with our pitch, flat and well mown.

Not troubled by any noise from main roads, railways or dairy. Found it all very peaceful but still able to have a drink and a chat with friends in the evening.

Facilities are fine, I would agree they are dated but were kept clean. Not chucked out of the facilities when cleaning time started as some reviews suggest, in fact the staff were very friendly.

Nice walk to the city centre along the river bank, saw the college crews training in their boats.

We generally go to the Lakes/Wales/Dales for sites in stunning scenery with open countryside walks but this was absolutely fine for our purposes and has added a new dimension to our camping as we will now look at parkland style sites.

Really excellent site. The managers were so friendly and couldn't be more accommodating. We were staying in a tent but were being joined by family in a caravan later. The managers did what they could to put us together and we enjoyed a weeks camping and caravanningy right next to each other.

Its true, the showers and toilets are a little out of date, but they were clean, hot and plenty of them.

The railway line didn't really bother us (very limited noise) but you have to remember that you are on the edge of Oxford City centre.

Great location for getting in and out of Oxford - park and ride directly opposite site.

I cant praise this site enough, an excellent week was had and we will definitely return.
