Fantastic site. We booked it on the last minute & we were not disappointed. We had a lovely pitch with electric hook up& had plenty of space on our pitch even with a large tent. The toilet & shower block were spotless (like being at home) as were the washing up & laundry room.
There is a small play area for the children & plenty of room to make friends &play. There is a very small shop with basics & an ice pack service (40p per pack). There is a Booths at Windermere. They have a small pub which closes at 10.30pm & a family room for evening meals which are fantastic. Shame we only ate in there on our last night. The site is kept beautifully & all the staff are helpful & very friendly. There is coarse fishing available almost next door to the site & you can buy day passes from the b.P garage.

You are about 10 minutes drive from Windermere & Bowness with all the tourist attractions. If you are looking for entertainment or late noisy nights then this is not the site for you. Only the owls to be heard after 9.30pm. Bliss. Will definitely be returning

We recently bought a tent as a family of 4 and to be honest just made a quick decision to visit Windermere Camping and Caravanning Club Site.  I just wanted to say that we couldn't have picked a nicer place.  The staff were wonderful and so helpful, taking us personally to our pitch and answering any questions we had.  Right opposite our tent pitch there was a 'Campers Retreat', which was a lovely immaculately clean log cabin with stainless steel sinks and worktops for the campers to wash up and prepare food in, also there was a table to sit at and eat if you so wished.  The showers were not very far away and they too were immaculately clean and heated with lovely warm water.  There is a cafe with a snooker table in which served nice food and a separate bar where children are not allowed, but that wasn't a problem as you could get a drink and take it outside anyway.  Last but not least, the play area.  This was really good with big wooden structures for the kids to play on and we spent several hours playing hide and seek there.  The setting of the site is perfect and although we weren't really there long enough to go on any walks, it goes without saying that there are plenty of lovely walks in the surrounding area.  I would really reccomend this site to everyone and hope to visit again soon, weather permitting of course.

Stayed two nights - 2 Adults here and all I can say is friendly, clean, VERY quiet - what more could we ask for???

Oh yes, the two chaps who guided us to our pitch on bikes unhooking our caravan and locating it on pitch for us - felt bad for not giving them a tip.!

Shower and toilet facilities were the best I have seen in ages.

The pub (Whistling Pig) is rather small, but quaint - quite adequate for the site I would say.

SUPER SITE - we will be returning.!

An excellent site, large, but well laid out giving a feeling of it being much smaller, as it is broken up by trees and areas of different heights.
Three excellent toilet blocks which were maintained to a high standard even though the site was almost full over the period of our stay. Never a problem getting a shower and an excellent laundry room and dish washing facilities.
A small shop selling the essentials and barrier control for security.
There's a bar, something that would normally make us avoid a site, but there was no noise or disruption at all and the site was quiet overnight.
A play area which the kids loved but this is out of the way and can not be seen from any of the pitches, an advantage or disadvantage depending on your circumstances!
The site is mainly set up for caravans with loads of hard standing pitches and the number of tent pitches does appear limited, especially those with electric hook ups, so would recommend booking to be safe.
Had a great four nights here despite HEAVY rain but the site is well drained and this caused no problems.
Only a short drive from Kendal and Windermere so a great spot to explore the South Lakes from. Situated away from the main road so no traffic noise at all. One of the best sites we have visited and so we would highly recommend. We will be back again, the kids didn't want to leave.

I love this site, we left our caravan here, from September to January. Its a large site, with good facilities, and seems to be popular with all ages. Its not far from the main road into Windermere and Bowness, and has a security barrier and small pub.

We even stayed here on New years eve, where they had a marque and disco, which was great for the kids, and they even got some presents of Santa. The only thing that lets this site down from a family point of view is that the park isn't very good, and is well hidden so it makes it hard to be able to keep an eye on the children without having to actually stand behind them.

The owners and wardens all come across as helpful, but at busy times, you have to be off your pitch in time as there is usually somebody waiting to get straight on after you. TV reception isn't great on certain parts of the site, but its still one of the best in the area and value for money.

We stopped here for our first ever family camping holiday, so there were some elements of fiasco that had nothing to do with the site itself! The site's in a good location - not far off the main road but far enough for noise not to be a problem, and close to Staveley which is fast becoming a Foodie Paradise (check out the Bakery and Wilf's Cafe in particular).

The facilities on the site were top notch with a bar, children's play area and shop, and the toilets etc were faultless. Only one problem for us and it was a biggie - come the Friday Night, the site became an awful lot busier and hence noisier. It was bad luck that a large group ended up next to us, and to be fair they were asked to keep it down a bit by one of the staff - but the noise was too much and we ended up packing up and leaving despite having already paid for another night. Not the place to go for a peaceful and quiet weekend then, but then again it's a big site.
