We chose the site due to its proximity to Oxford and for the nearby transport links into the city which were excellent. We used the Park and Ride opposite the site.

The site is a little difficult to see from the road but if you look out for the 'Go Outdoors' store you will find it easily as the site is directly behind.

We were greeted by extremely friendly and helpful wardens (and their lovely dog!)and this set the tone for our stay.

As we were in a motorhome we were parked on tarmac roads which was fine as the majority of units were motorhomes and the grass was very spongy. The warden stayed with us while we pitched to make sure we were level and were happy with the pitch.

The toilet block as mentioned in previous reviews is very dated but it is kept spotlessly clean, the showers were lovely and hot and there was always plenty of hot water for washing up.

The site is close to a main A34 which can be heard but is not overly intrusive and you can see the dairy but from our pitch the noise from it was minimal. We felt that the benefits of the site far outweighed any negatives especially the lovely wardens who were determined to make sure your stay as enjoyable as possible.

We hope to return in October and hope the same wardens will be there!

This was just our second C&CC site, not a patch on Slapton Sands. Due to it being 'Winter' (October) there were reduced pitches as they save the grass by parking you on the road ways and have you walking on the grass to the toilets! The staff said there were no hook ups left, yet walking round the site that evening we counted three sockets not being used, they said they were fully booked but put us on the grass; which was fine but if that's the case they could have taken another 20! I got the impression that they like you to book even in October! Hand book says refurbished? - Still looked rather dated to me but was clean & tidy.

I'm a light sleeper but the drone of the dairy chillers didn't keep me awake and there was less trains at night (the handbook does say there can be some noise).

We were given a very handy leaflet with easy to follow directions for buses and cycling - this is a great spot if you have a bike, 10mins into the centre of Oxford with cycle ways on the main roads and nice cycle track along the tow path.

Will use again. But will keep the staff happy by booking first!

Apparently, the site has been refurbished this year. This could only have extended to a drop of paint here and there though as the toilet block in particular looks quite dated (but nevertheless kept clean). Dairy next door is a little noisy from time to time, but only during the daytime while we were there which was not really a problem. Trains passing were more noticeable, but again, we did not notice them at night. I struggle to see how it could be described as a city centre site as it is clearly a suburban site, bordering on rural.

That's the negative points dealt with. There is a branch of go outdoors on the entrance, so if you have forgotten anything then that is very convenient and would make this an ideal site for first timers.

Easy to find with good roads leading to the site, unlike some sites up lanes.

Whilst not a city centre site, bus travel is easy and convenient at the park and ride opposite. Furthermore, no one with half a brain would want to tow a caravan into the centre of Oxford anyway, so it would probably be a negative if it were a city centre site.

The site was kept clean and tidy and the staff very friendly. This was our first C+CC site and we were pleasantly surprised after reading previous reviews.

We had two children and found that there was not much for them to do nearby. There is a park adjacent to the site, but the kids quickly got bored there. Oxford, again really held no appeal for the kids, but my wife and I would love to go back when the kids are grown up. I wouldn't take them back as they were bored quite quickly, even an open top bus ride did not keep them happy for long.

In summary, not really a site for kids and the toilet block could really do with replacing, but clean and well kept and ideally suited for a visit to Oxford.

Considering it's location and that we were still in high season, I thought it was very good value and not very busy. (We booked for a non electric pitch, intending to spend all day in Oxford and just return at night, however, the weather was against us and we upgraded to electric pitch on arrival.)

Anyone visiting the site is well advised to get a bus into Oxford as Oxford is almost entirely buses only or pedestrianised and car parks in the centre are very expensive.

This site is described in the club book as being a city centre site which it most definitely is not. Although Oxford is easily accessible either by the Park & Ride nearby or if you feel more energetic a nice walk along the river bank. The noise and vibration from passing trains was a problem for me.

The site is showing it's age, and the toilet / shower block is the worst I have ever encountered on a club site. It was dirty, smelly and always awash with water. However, the site is handy for the centre of Oxford, which is a beautiful place. I will not be going back to this site.

I will only write a short review. We stayed at this site for one night over the May bank holiday weekend. We turned up on spec but were very lucky to get the last pitch. It is a peasant site and to be honest the loos and showers are fine - I have seen much worse. The couple who run the site seemed quite friendly as well. However, I have to concur with other reviewers' comments about the noise from the dairy - it is awful. The site is handy for Oxford, so if you decide to risk it anyway - get as far away from the dairy as you can ! we hardly slept a wink all night.

We have stayed at this site many times over a number of years, even before it became a camping club site. In all these years I dont think the shower block has had any attention. The only reason we continue to use it is the fact its handy for Oxford. Its over priced for the standard of facilities and heaven knows what overseas visitors think. The staff seem to be typical of club staff and there word is law.!

The park and ride is really good.Plenty of places to eat in Oxford, its a pity local pubs are poor.
