April 2004 Excellent Excellent site.
This is our favourite site of all. We are regulars here because of the fact that it is beautiful, clean, tidy, pretty, lovely pitches, quiet, friendly, great for kids and local to where we live!!
If you havent tried it, do so, you will love it.

July 2004 Lovely, clean well maintained site in a very picturesque setting. The toilet facilities and showers were clean and warm. The childrens play areas were much enjoyed by my children (4 & 6). The staff were very helpful and friendly.
My only minor gripe would be that some of the pitches were very cramped when fully booked, we stayed in 'ceder' (smaller caravans and tents) and there was only a few feet between car and next pitch at side and approx 10ft from pitch facing.
Overall a lovely site.

July/Aug 2004 We spent two nights here with the kids with our tent. The good points are showers / toilets are very clean, the site is tidy, staff friendly. On the downside it's advertised as a family site but there are 'no ball games' signs all over the site, the play area is only for very small children (6 and below), there are no large areas to play with the kids, they allow people to pitch at silly times in the night (we were woken by next door pitching at 1am!). The pitches are too close together (next door's car kept pushing in our pegs!!). The river is nice to play in if you can get to it (caravaners seem to have priority pitching along the bank and do love to fence it off with their windbreaks! - pleasant bunch!). Camp shop has basics, but there is a 24hr Tesco in Ollerton up the road.
It is a nice site but wont be coming back as it's really for older caravaners - no enough to keep kids amused. Rob

July 2004 Site is flat and sheltered. Plenty of wildlife, especially waterfowl, pheasants and peacocks. The trees were labeled as to their species which I thought was a novel idea and educational for children and adults. The facilities were OK. There is a lot of water so parents of young children would need to be vigilant. I think it's a lovely site and will definitely go again if I am in that area.

April 2004 We visited this site in April, and agreed we will not find a better site than this. It's beautiful, peaceful and very picturesque. Unlike some other reviews, we couldn't find a problem with the showers and toilets, any mess is only due to the inconsiderate people using them, and unless there was a cleaner there every minute, the site can't help that. Staff friendly and helpful, good play areas for kids, good flat pitches. You may be awoken by owls and other birdlife in the forest, but it just adds to the feeling of being back to nature, away from all the stress! Can't wait to go back, 10 out of 10.

1-2/5/2004 This was our first camping trip and had a bit of a do with the tent but once settled it was great. The site was easy to find and on arrival found the place to be beautiful, little rivers and pleanty of wild life , lots of things for the kids to do including a little cinema and park. There is a bingo session that also goes off near the provisions shop. The only thing we didn't like was the fact we couldn't get a pitch near the water and this meant that we had to camp on the top field which to us was way too far from the toilets and showers and a little too near the train track, but that wasn't too noisy. Would defo go again, very family orientated but maybe have a porto potty on hand next time hehe.............

May Bank Holiday 2004 We decided to stay at the campsite as it is very near Sherwood and booked a pitch with no hook-up point the day before. The field was a good few minutes walk to the washrooms, which we were warned about over the telephone.
I found the ladies to be unkempt, and one of the locks was broken. The next day it was cleaned, but very poorly. Overall the staff were friendly, pitching ground slightly stony and it got very windy in the open field. Verdict? We would prefer to stay in a smaller campsite next time, but will miss the beautiful peacocks and pheasants.

April 2004 Just spent two nights here - booked very short notice and from the looks of things when we got to site we were lucky to get in!
This is a pretty site but parents note that many of the pitches back on to the river which flows through the site. I had been pre-warned (seen the pics on their website) and asked to be pitched away from easy access to water which meant we were put down the furthest end of the site.
We found the pitches to be spacious (although this was helped by having an empty pitch between us the motorhome next but one pitch to us. Tents with hook ups are in the same areas as tourers which could be helpful for friends camping out together.
The play areas were small but well maintained and this is an excellent site for the kids to cycle on. The streams really lend themselves for paddling in (showers will be needed afterwards due to the dirt from the stream bed rather than the water which seemed very clear to me!).
What else - a good little shop but no fresh produce, fishing on site (we don't fish so no comment on this).
Apparently this site gets booked up for the main weeks well in advance and also there are a lot of long stayers here - with a waiting list of 2 years if you so felt like joining them!
The showers and toilets were very clean all throughout the weekend.
There are lots of lovely walks around and about and there is a massive Sunday car boot just around the corner.
We spent Saturday at the Sherwood Farm Park which was just up the road - lambs and piglets galore - a lovely place which was good value given that we got half price entry vouchers from the caravan reception!
Will most definitely be visiting here again - if we can get in - as it is only 40 minutes away from our home!
