We visited in June 2011 and found the entrance inviting, clean and welcoming. The Reception is a little dated and we were asked to leave a £5 deposit for the key card which was to be used to drive in with the caravan. Cars cannot access after 11pm which I found annoying.
The site itself has a one way system which is easy to use and a good way of avoiding having to manoeuvre around. Our pitch was down at the bottom (think it was 6) which was quiet and peaceful. We were met during the week with torrential rains which flooded our awning.
The toilet blocks were clean mostly and accessible via your key card. The showers were 'just ok' as if you had a shower in the bottom one, you got all the dirty water from someone's shower running into your drain. The showers were chargeable too. The clubhouse was very clicky and it was very dated with magnolia walls everywhere-lacked a bit of character.
The site was well maintained and the pitches were overall good. The waste disposals were convenient too and so where the rubbish bins. We found it a convenient location for local attractions.

Very disappointed in this site, I asked when I booked if the pitches and access to the pitches was good as we have a large twin axle caravan and large car. They said pitch size was exceptionally large they even have the new Bailey Retreat sited on a seasonal pitch.
In reality the pitch was average, we were told to park car across tow bar, this was impossible no room. A motorhome next to us had millimetres to spare to fit on pitch. If we had an awning we would have to park car in carpark. We walked around whole site to find the Bailey Retreat, no sign of it !
Location of site is ok if you like to take a car everywhere, we prefer to walk, the walk into Scarborough was about 2.6 miles all down hill, the walk back up is only for the super fit. You can get a taxi. We were told by reception that a bus passes the site on main road, we couldn't see any bus stop and didn't see one bus pass us by, so think reception might be misinformed.
Reception was poorly stocked no bread or newspapers left by noon, other stock was minuscule.
Toilet/showers were in need of refurb, toilets were smelly and dirty and that was at 8 am so doubt they were cleaned the day before. Showers are operated by token, bought from machine outside reception, didn't use them as was dubious about cleanliness we used our van.
Site is mainly statics ( privately owned ) and all looked very dated. First impression when we entered site from main road was not favourable. Had to wait over 40 mins to get checked in as our pitch was still occupied reception staff had to tell them to vacate pitch it was almost 2pm, the occupants were not happy and gave us an annoyed look when they pulled passed us.
Positive points, pitch was fully serviced and price was a very reasonable £20 per night, however £2.50 for a dog per night was expensive, what was this charge for, the dog walk was a tiny footpath
In a wooded area by the statics no dog poo bins and lots of dog mess on the path.
Would we stay again ? 100 % NO

Just spent a lovely weekend at this site. Really good value at £21 per night as all the pitches are fully serviced (waste/water/electric hookup)just remember to bring your water hook up kit and a 3M length of waste pipe, pitches are spacious and easily accommodated our 27' van & awning with space left to park the car.
The site is very clean and well maintained and the toilets and showers are also kept nice and clean. The onsite shop is quite basic but that didn't bother us as sainsburys is only a 5 minute drive away. All the staff I spoke to were helpful and polite and the check in process was dealt with efficiently.
The on site pub/clubhouse is a good size and has games for the kids a couple of pool tables and a few fruit machines, there was entertainment on Saturday night which was fairly decent and thankfully not too loud, we did not try the food but what we saw looked decent enough, overall a decent pub and a bonus that its right there on the site.
We will definitely be returning to this site as I love the fully serviced pitches and the location is superb for visiting the surrounding areas, 6-10 mins into Scarborough depending on traffic.

I went to this site in Scarborough as it was my first outing and I needed somewhere with good facilities to try out the caravan and it had good reviews. I certainly wasn't disappointed with my choice!
The site is excellent with fully serviced pitches (electric hookup, water drain and tap) which are also hardstanding and have their own hedges and grass lawns. The staff on site are friendly and keep the place spotless.
Went in the shower block once (used my caravan facilities the rest of the time) and they were immaculately kept and spacious.
I didn't try the Jacobs tavern pub on site as it was closed most days (it was low season and very quiet). The site is a 2 mile gentle walk to the rail station but its all downhill and the taxi back is £6.
All in all I fully recommend the site!

Jacobs Mount is in a Great location for Yorkshire's coastal resorts, picturesque market towns and scenic countryside.
We called in here with a tourer without pre-booking during the high season and although the site was very busy, we found the owners to be friendly, very helpful and accommodating.
Access in and out of the touring/camping area was via electronic barriers, operated by a card which was issued on arrival (£5 refundable deposit) this same card also opened the doors of the services block. On the secure side of the barriers was also a car park for extra vehicles, which weren't charged for when using this facility.
The site is gently sloping with level pitches on terraced rows.
Tourer pitches are all-weather hardstanding and 'fully serviced' which, at a price of £20 per night during August 2011, we thought was excellent value (there are additional charges for awnings and dogs). Take a long electric hook up lead because the mains conection point is on the opposite corner of the pitch to your caravan.
As a guide to a tourer pitch size - the hard standing area was approx 30' long and the width would fit a caravan with its' awning (remember your hard ground pegs), to the right of this was a mown grassed area, ample for a vehicle, or a recreation area if there was room to put your car on the pitch across the front of your caravan. There is no room for parking on the 'one way system' single tarmac roadways.
Several pitches on corners and the top of the site are wider.
Our stay was during the summer school holidays but other than the immediate area of the childrens play ground we found it to be very quiet and peaceful. The play ground itself is outside the touring area so it would be advisable to accompany younger children.
A down side to the site was the fact that there was only one service block, which was situated outside the barrier entrance. It had a family bathroom, dishwashing and laundry facilities but only four toilet cubicles and six shower cubicles in each of the 'ladies' and 'gents'.
Toilet cubicles were large and each had a small wash hand basin in. The Shower cubicles were divided to provide a separate changing area with a plastic seat and clothes hooks. Showers were operated by a token - 40p each or 3 for £1 available from a machine on the wall outside reception, the coins went into the appropriate box outside the shower cubicle which started an immediate countdown of 7 minutes of hot water.
The on site pub seemed popular which had a pool table, a few game machines and entertainment during the week-ends. It opened at 7pm for evening meals with a varied pub type menu at prices averaging around £8. We did visit on Sunday evening at about 7. 30 but it was busy and we had a wait of 45mins for our food, we both had steak pie but to be truthful the pastry was very hard and some meat had dried out, seeming likely that it had been over heated in the oven, maybe the food is better during less busy periods.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return here.
For a great day out we highly recommend a steam train trip from Pickering to Whitby (£21 adult return) perhaps stopping off for a while at Goathland (T. V. 's Heartbeat location) many trains on a varied timetable throught the day

Just returned from a week as Jacobs Mount and well what can I say. I can't really fault the site to be honest.
If you are looking for a site which has loads to do then maybe this isn't for you. It's a quiet site but is really nice.
In a great location, ideal for Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington.
You have to pay £5 on arrival for a card to allow entrance to the main touring site and the toilets but it is refundable on departure.
Small playground for the kids, we didn't go in the club so can't comment on that, shop has basics but tesco and sainburys 5 mins away.
All in all for the money you can't beat it. Would I return. YES definitely. £165 for a week with EHU Awning kids and dogs. I would recommend it.
