My family (husband, 3 children under six and our Lab puppy) and I, have just returned from Sparchford Farm this morning. This was our first ever camping trip, so it was a real test not only of our tent and equipment but also to see if camping could be enjoyable with younger children and a dog. I am extremely pleased to say that we had a great time. The campsite was well sign posted and easy to find - good start! The field was flat, and grass cut and in good order. Whilst there is no park at this camp, the children loved being able to see both the cows and bull in the adjacent field and loved having Lambs in the small enclosure at the top of the field. They made they're own entertainment and this is what I believe camping is all about. I am extremely fussy about hygiene especially where toilets and children are concerned and the sight of portaloos horrified me when we arrived, however, I am pleased to say that they were the cleanest toilets I have ever used, endless supply of toilet paper and the lights were all working. These toilets are of course an addition to the shower and toilet block which is situated just across the road. Again, extremely clean, and kept in stock of toilet roll and hand soap. The shower at a pound a go was excellent. It was hot, powerful and gave more than enough time to shower an adult and a couple of children. Also, which I thought was a great idea of the owner was to display leaflets of local places of interest on the table in the block this was very helpful with planning days out. I thought that the area to wash plates and pans was also good. Although situated outside, its under a shelter so you don't get wet, and there is a light for at night and again its clean and well kept. I can say for definite that we will visit this campsite again in the future and would recommend it without a doubt. I have to say that as a first time camper, reading reviews of this site from other users I was slightly concerned as what to expect, but sometimes I think that people expect too much, and at £8 per night compared to the prices of some camps I think that it's well worth the money!

My husband and I just had two lovely days staying at Sparchford Farm. Although we were the only occupied caravan on the site, we found the site very comfortable and peaceful. It is an ideal site to use to explore the area or visit the races like we did! We didn't actually have to use the facilities as we were self sufficient, but although limited, the shower and toilet were very clean. Would stay here again!

May 2003 This campsite is based near to Craven Arms in Shropshire. It comprises two farm fields with a shower and toilet block (1 toilet and shower)along with a chemical toilet disposal point and freshwater supply. We enjoyed ourselves here for two nights - there are several good walks and you are very near to Stokesay Castle. The site allows the kids to ride their bikes but there is a sign which says no ball games or frisbees although no one seemed to mind too much! You can hear owls hooting at night and it is totally dark at night which is very atmospheric. The farm also supplies ice creams of many flavours and lovely scones and apple pies!! A must... prices from £6.50 to £8.50 with a hook up.

The lady who took our booking was friendly. When we arrived we were told to report some-one on one of the pitches and he would tell us where to pitch our tent. The field was full of caravans, and there were only really two places we could have gone. Luckily we were put down the end, and not squeezed between two caravans as one other poor camper was. The hard standing put down for the caravans means that there isn't a lot of room to put your guy ropes down if you have a large tent. Apparently sometimes there is a separate area for tents, but when we were there that was being used for sheep. So if you have a big tent, check when you're booking if you will be in the caravan field or the tent field. £1 for the showers is steep, especially since they were a bit grotty, and the water seemed to run hot and cold. Do take your own loo roll. With only one toilet it seemed to run out about twice a day. The washing up area was OK, but the water wasn't that hot, and ran out when we were washing up our breakfast things. The field was flat and neat, and would have been nice for the children to play, but there were a lot of cars coming and going from the caravans, so you have to keep an eye out for young children. The area is nice, and you have good access to Ludlow, and some nice walks from the farm. Watch out for the cows if they have got their calves with them. We got chased in one field!

Second visit to this site on the august bank holiday for three nights. Was made very welcome by Alf who did as much as he could to help me. The owners who are very busy running the farm are also very friendly and offer a lot of help. Met a lot of friendly people there too and will be returning next year. Shower and toilet always clean and tidy A small and peaceful site, nice to just sit and chill.

A warm welcome, camping field is flat and huge. The kids had a fantastic time running round & playing ball games because of all the space. The facilities are basic but clean and usable. If you want luxury this is not the site for you but if you want a good place to camp with plenty of places to visit nearby then it will be a hit! We all agreed we would use it again!
