Have used other Hoburne sites and was very disappointed with this one. We were pitched on the top field (did'nt even know there was a lower one until I looked at the other reviews) and we struggled! Our 'van is 27 ft long and the pitches were just too small-both in length and width. It took us an hour to get the 'van on the pitch due to there not being enough room to move the'van in and out-even with a motor mover- then we just got stuck so we left it where it was. This meant that both wheels (it's a twin axle) were on the mud. The awning area was mud- I know they can't help the weather but it needs gravelling like the other Hoburne sites- and orange mud at that - our awning and some clothes are still stained now!

The toilet block, although clean, was cold; 2 very small heaters high up on the wall didn't help at all - and desperately needed updating. The gutters leaked so when it rained you had to dodge the downfall from them. The taps to fill up your aquarolls are all the push button type so they took ages and gave us chronic back and arm ache-I know they're there to stop people leaving them on but they're no fun in the driving rain! The site is also very hilly - worse when you've been to the clubhouse! - so our youngest didn't use her bike for fear of the slopes!

The entertainment was great- Sammy Seahorse is fab-my 5 year old adores him-and the food and drinks are good and reasonably priced. The shop site is reasonably well stocked although it was the end of the season so a lot of shelves were empty .Morrisons is 2 minutes down the road and right next door to there is Paignton Zoo which is fantastic- it's huge and the animals are very well cared for. It's nearly 40.00 for a family of 4 but you can easily make a day of it. Torquay is shops and more shops and the nearby railway is good but a bit pricey. Brixham is a nice town as is Teignmouth. Woodlands Adventure Park is a short drive away-about an hour-and is fab;everthing from zip slide to play areas to pets corner. Worth a day out too.

Not a bad site but I wouldn't rush back.

Just spend the last week of the school holidays at Hoburne Torbay.

We had an enjoyable week couldn't fault park itself excellent entertaiment - especially Sammy Seahorse, who my young son really enjoys, was very busy in the clubhouse, but most nights we managed to get a table.

Had a few concerns about our touring pitch which was up on the hillside very uneven. Had trouble getting the caravan in as it was so steep and very crowded, wouldn't stay up there again if we were to return we would request a pitch down the bottom (Woodland Glade) by the entrance to the park, nice and flat some pitches a little muddy and water logged! but safer for children to ride their bikes - a little to dangerous up on the top touring field as the site is very very hilly.

Did speak with the parks General Manager with regard to the amenity block up on the top touring field. The showers cubicles were disgusting the dividers were rottening away at the bottom and the tile grout was black with mould, very disappointing as other Hoburne's are much better.

He told me that they are not getting any major refurbishment, while they are closed, but will be carrying out work to improve their appearance!

Location of the park is good, nice beach within 15mins walk, went on the P&D Steam Railway into Dartmouth - kids loved the train the ferry price is included in your train ticket, Dartmouth had their Regatta on when we went watched an excellent firework display at no extra cost special trains run that day - great day out!

Liked the area - would we stay there again YES, as our kids love Sammy!

We stayed here for 2 weeks(2adults and 3 children aged between 9 and 13).The weather was dreadful, but it didn't stop us getting out and about. This campsite is a bit like the Haven sites although better. We were pitched on the bottom field {woodlands Glade)This was by far the best area to pitch, it was level and had good drainage and not overcrowded, although the camp was full, the pitches were very generous. The toilet block was ok clean, and in good working order, perhaps a little dated but served the purpose.

The swimming pools were very good and stayed open until 9 oclock. The sauna and steam rooms were an added bonus!

We didn't really rate the clubhouse it was very noisy, you couldn't hear each other and if you didn't get there early there was no where to sit.

However we used to go to The Inn on The Queys adjacent to Goodrington beach most nights. We can highly recommend it for good food ,good ale and children's entertainment

Goodrington beach was ok (although the beaches in Cornwall are much better).Paighton Zoo is a good day out so is Woodlands theme park.We also did the Steam train and Ferry to Dartmouth which was also a good day out.

Torquey,Paignton were ok, but we went further up the coast to Tiegnmouth which was very nice as was Dawlish.

If we were to go back to that area we would use this camp again.

First visit to site and were on the lower field. The showers were old but of very good design and layout with perfect water temperature and pressure.

The entertainment was excellent (far better than Haven) with an experienced professional entertainment team. The cabaret was good although it was acts starting out. The layout of the club and amusements was good, if not a little confusing.

The swimming pools were excellent and all areas were clean.

Would visit again.

We were pitched in the top field of this site, and the ground was very uneven, had difficulty levelling caravan initially but had help from site.

Top field conveniently located for shop, laundrette and clubhouse / pool etc. However was told by reception that the top pitching field of this site will be statics only from next year!

Entertainment good, especially for children, nice to see the teenagers accommodated with a separate chill out area of the site. Park, swimming pool and facilities nice and clean. Staff were always polite and helpful.

Shower block could do with an upgrade of as the water output was poor in the shower, but toilets nice and clean.

Site conveniently located with easy travelling to Torquay, Paignton, Brixham etc. We used public transport a lot which was extremely regular.

Be careful of using sat nav to this site if not visited before - sat nav will send you on a left turn down on Goodrington Road which will then take you to Grange Heights- you will end up going down an extremely steep hill, with virtually no turning point at the bottom. The best was to go is straight down Goodrington Road bearing right where the road splits.

We have just got back from just over a week at Hoburne Torbay and agree with the others that the bottom field is much more level, however it floods a bit in places, next door to us had a mini plunge pool after a day of heavy rain!

Great site well maintained, clubhouse and pool etc great, restaurant was good value and good food too. The steam train that passes by is a great day out and good value too.

The bottom field has 70 odd pitches and only 4 ladies and 4 men's showers, luckily it wasn't busy but in the peak season there could be large queues, also the shower blocks are very dated compared with other Hoburne sites. They were cleaned regularly, but the shower cubicles are a bit grotty.
