Just come back from a brilliant touring holiday in Scotland in which we stayed at Achindarroch twice, once in our tent and the other in one of the pods. Anne & Dick are very friendly and nothing is too much bother. The site is immaculately clean and is serviced with plenty of hot water for the showers at any time of the day which were very clean and free to use. There is also a camperís kitchen so pots and pans could get a good clean after use, and where you could re-freeze your freezer packs. The tent pitches are spacious with plenty of room between tents.

We have stayed in a pod before at another camp site where you basically needed everything except your tent, not so at Achindarroch, camp beds with air mattressís on are included as well as a double gas cooker with gas, a box of pots and pans with mugs, plates, bowls and cutlery so all you need to bring is the sleeping bags.

As for location it was ideal for us with the dog, within a five minute walk we were in Glen Duror Forest where we could walk up the hills or stay on the forest trail. Ten minutes in the other direction takes you to Cuil Bay were the dog was able to swim and splash about to his heartís content. The camp site is well situated if you wanted to explore further afield and was easy to find. We will be coming back to this excellent site.

What a excellent place this is to stay. Me and my family, and our dog Kear spent a wonderful week camping on this site, and although the weather was not at its best we made the most of it. It was a great base for touring round the sites of this part of Scotland.

The site itself was the best we have ever stayed on, the pitches were flat and well maintained, the shower blocks and toilets were immaculate and the campers kitchen was above and beyond what was expected with the use of sinks washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave and fridge freezer. This was a top grade site and the owner was more than willing to help with everything and anything she could. One of the days we were there she came around to warn us to check our pegs as they had forecast gale force wind, luckily we were fine but one poor couple arrived during said winds and unfortunately some of there tent rods snapped which was very distressing for them, Ann however very kindly and at no extra cost put them in one of her empty pods for the night till they sorted themselves out with a replacement, which was really good of her. Thank you for making our stay in Scotland a pleasurable one and we will definitely be back in the future, and will be recommending this site to our camping friends.

Brilliant! This site is in my top 3 sites that I have visited.

We arrived with 3 kids and 3 dogs to a warm friendly welcome from Anne, who gave a quick tour of the site and then then we were shown our huge flat pitch with EHU. The shower/toilet block is modern and clean and was kept like that for our 10 day stay, as was the whole site.

The site is in easy reach of Oban, Fort william and the various ferries for visiting the nearby islands.

Anne was always on hand to help and to have a chat and even took time to say goodbye when we were leaving, so a big thankyou to you and Dick, keep up the good work and if we are in that area of Scotland again we won't hesitate to call you up first

Once again a really great site

Just home from our 3 visit to Achindarroch. Like all other reviews this is a nice quite site always clean etc.

Anne and Dick are really helpful I had phoned prior to our visit cos our friends got married just before we went a I asked Anne if she could decorate their pitch so when we arrived there were balloons and a banner to the surprise of our friends.

It's nice to know that pets are welcome as well cos not many site allow dogs, the campsite has dog toilet and poo bags(although we always carry our own)

We will be back to see you again.

First time at this gem of a site! Pristine toilet block, the owner extremely friendly and helpful, and she won't allow noisy and messy people spoil other campers holidays! Got a huge midge problem though, only to be expected in Scotland - take a good repellent!

Maybe the only downside could be that there seem to be few local facilities, shops etc, but it's quiet, perfect for a relaxing holiday, good area for walking with a dog, beautiful scenery.

Not far from Glencoe, Fort William. Would definitely go back.

Achindarroch campsite is situated in the quiet valley of Glen Duror and is surrounded by picturesque views of rolling hills and mountains that makes Scotland such a lovely place to live / visit and provides this part of the country with the great honour of being the outdoor capital of the UK.

On arrival, we were met by the owners, who presented as being very friendly and helpful and provided us with a tour of the campsite facilities, prior to showing us to our pitch. Also included in this induction was a Welcome Pack with some information on the local history of the area, as well as leaflets on local walks and attractions, etc.

The tent pitches were flat and well drained, despite the heavy rainfall when we arrived and at times during our 5 day stay (But thatís the joy of camping!).

The toilet and free (always a good sign) shower facilities appear to be relatively new and were clean and well maintained by the owners. There is a small camperís kitchen in the same building, which contains sinks for washing-up, food prep areas and various other items and equipment that can come in handy such as laundry facilities, an electric kettle, microwave, toaster and a fridge freezer.

We were also able to purchase Wi-Fi access at a cost of £5 per week, which is very reasonable, compared to some other campsites we have visited.

The campsite and surrounding village is very quiet, but is good base for touring, with Glencoe, Fort William and Oban, all within easy reach.

There is also a cycle / walking lane towards the rear of the campsite, which when completed (estimated 2014) will link Oban to Fort William, via Duror, and will eventually join up with the Ballahulish and Appin routes.

There are also some good forest walks around the Glen and there are two Munros within 5 miles of the campsite, and of course, Ben Nevis is not too far away either, just outside Fort William.

The main downside relating to the location of this campsite is that there are no shops close by, even to buy essentials such as milk and/or a newspaper. The closest shop to the campsite is a CO OP, located in Ballachulish, and is approximately 7. 7 miles (or around 16 minutesí drive) from Achindarroch campsite.

Overall, we enjoyed a pleasant time at Achindarroch campsite, which has a lot of potential to become very popular in the seasons to come.

Therefore, all credit to the owners (only in their third season of running this campsite) who work very hard, take pride in what they do and are genuinely trying to make this a good quality camping / touring site.
