Quite a nice site, new toilet/shower block better than single one where chickens frequent. The storms put our camping to an abrupt end, but Steve was very friendly and helpful. He's even got a store of kids bikes that they can use. The only thing that I could fault was their own two german shepherd dogs using the camping field as a toilet, which didn't get cleaned up, even when right outside the toilet door. The old Station pub about 2 miles away does a fantastic carvery, as well as other extensive menu, and is very children friendly.
Have just had the best week's camping that I and my family have experienced in five years of camping and felt compelled to write the following. † Brinscott Farm campsite is without doubt one of the most tranquil campsites I have ever visted. Unlike the "mega" camp sites around this part of North Devon that treat you like a walking wallet, Brinscott Farm is a peaceful site in beautiful surroundings. Located about three miles from the picturesque cove of Coombe Martin, it is ideally situated with good road links to Woolacombe Beech, Ilfracombe and within easy drive of Barnstaple and Exmoor. † My family stayed for a week, and communications with the owner, Steve Brinscott were brilliant before, during and after our stay. The guy really couldn't have been more helpful, and our holiday was made more enjoyable from his advice on where to go and what to do. † The main site is made up of two main camping areas, a field of 3 acres and a larger one siting mobile homes and caravans. With beautiful views over the adjoining countryside and a family atmosphere, Brinscott Farm provided us with with the most relaxing camping experience I could have wished for. † Okay, there are no big screens, children's entertainers, big pool and sauna - instead, we experienced camping on a working farm, with chickens roaming the yard, and friendly fellow campers who joined us, in playing games with the children and enjoying camping as it should be. † The site has a number of electrical hookups and reasonable showers / washing facilities that we never had to wait for (good ratio) and I think more are planned for next season. Located "on the plateau" the site would be an ideal location for walking on the many public footpaths in the area. We drove down the hill to Combe Martin for our daily groceries (Maddies Store on the right going down into Combe Martin) and a bakery opposite. Tesco has a store in Ilfracombe and petrol was available at the garage†three quarters of†a†mile from the site. † Will definitely visit Brinscott Farm again, and would recommend it to anyone camping in North Devon. The rates were very reasonable, and the experience simply brilliant.
