Just returned from an eight night stay here and really enjoyed our time at this site which is ideally situated for touring local places and attractions,  we were met by the owner, who was very friendly and informative,  He walked us around the site to show us where to pitch, shew us the facilities and explained the situation regarding rubbish disposal and recycling.   we were left to pitch up and get ourselves sorted out before paying our fees.

Our pitch was spacious, level and the grass was neat.  We were concerned by the threat of flooding considering the recent bad weather but the site is situated quite high up so we were fine in that respect but the track through the site got really muddy after a night of heavy rainfall.

The water taps and electric hook-up points are all easily accessible.

Unfortunately I have to say that I find the description on the website regarding modern facilities to be a bit misleading, in fact I would say that they are in need of modernisation and some attention to detail.  The tiling on the walls and some of the flooring is very poorly done, with grouting left on the surface etc which attracts dirt and traps hairs etc. some of the tiling is coming away from the walls, the quality of the decoration is very poor and it gives the facilities a very shabby appearance, however on the positive side it was really nice to find a site that has full bathrooms, although there are also separate toilets and showers available on site.  There was always plenty of (soft!) toilet tissue and handwash in the washrooms etc but I didn't really like the idea of towels for hand-drying these were dirty most of the time because of the amount of people using them, getting dropped on the floor etc, but they did appear to be replaced regularly.  Hot water was available most of the time but ran out on a couple of evenings that I was aware of, but the site was almost full.   The facilities were clean on the surface, i.e. Toilet bowls and sinks but wall tiling and backs of toilets were missed, so in need of a thorough deep clean.

The pot-wash area also contains a micro-wave and fridges & freezers and this area was always clean and tidy.  Having free use of a microwave was a god-send for me as having a son with special dietary requirements, meant I could refresh his bread and microwave some of his prepared ready meals easily.  The laundry room was in good order and in fact improvements were being made to this area when we arrived, the machines appeared new and were the best we have used on any site.  There is no free rubbish disposal on this site, waste can only be disposed of in the black sacks available from the owner at £1. Each, otherwise you need to take your waste away, recyclable items can be disposed of near by in Kingsbridge.

The children loved being on the play area, especially the trampolines, 2 additional new trampolines and a goal post appeared one day so improvements were evident there also, I was however concerned by the play area being right next to the entrance and main road and also out of site of the tent pitches, we were constantly walking around the site checking on the kids (who wanted to be on there all the time we were on camp! but old enough, age 8&10, not to need total supervision).

There is no shop or bar/clubhouse/pub on site or walking distance, the nearest are all in kingsbridge a short drive away, so the site has a lovely peaceful, quite and calm atmosphere.  This site is situated by the road however so you do get some traffic noise, but generally quite a quiet site.

All in all this is a good site with so much potential, the positives far out-way any negatives.some improvements were being made and any reported problems were dealt with promptly.  I really hope that the owners continue to do so, I would love to return to find fresher looking amenities and perhaps the play area being re-sited in the centre of the park away from that main road. We would definitely return to this park if in the area again.

We have been visiting the Parklands camp site for the last 4 years, and have always enjoyed our holiday there. Each year the site has been improved from our previous visits.
With plenty of space for the kids to play (the trampolines are the favorite ) and a games room, swings, slide and giant chess set, there is ample outdoor facilities to keep them amused.
Situated on a level field approximately one mile from Kingsbridge town center (easy access for the shops) the site has lots of hook ups and tap water outlets. There is a local pub and post office at the nearby village of Churchstow and a wonderful country butchers shop on the way to Lodiswell.
The lovely beaches of Bantham and Thurleston are only a short drive through the winding lanes, so we have the choice of country walks or sandy beaches to enjoy.
James (the site owner) has always made us feel most welcome, and he keeps the site nice and tidy. The only downside for us is having to leave when our holiday is over.

This was our third visit to Parklands over the past couple of years and I must say standards have slipped. I was very disappointed with the whole stay and attitude of the owners.  I made a group booking well in advance but our requests were not met and we had more tents than pitches with no price reduction.  The toilet facilities are no where near adequate to the amount of tents and people also they were very shabby and in need of refurbishment.  There are no facilities to leave rubbish unless you purchase a special black bag for £1.  I am hoping the owners will read this and improve and increase the facilities because the site itself is really nice very level with lovely kept grass and the location is excellent for South Devon, Dartmoor, Kingsbridge and beaches.

Ideal location.  Large supermarket at Kingsbridge, pretty town.  Campsite friendly but shower/toilet blocks which have been poorly designed and are rather grotty but just about bearable.  We had young children and managed.  They did clean with bleach which got on to one of our towels.  Water was free but a little erratic.  Site was very crowded but was quiet at night.  Play area not ideally located next to the main car entrance.  Children loved going to the small games room! Not sure if we would go back despite loving the area.

James made us feel really welcome hear despite the weather. We just get the tent up in time for the rain to start :)

Anyway campsite has free electricity, separate family washrooms, recycling, games room, pets, washing up room, washing machine room... and the trampolines are an instant hit with the kids!

Plots are nice and flat, with well kept lawns. What more could you ask for, well maybe an on-site shop would be handy, but Somerfield in Kingsbridge is big and not far away.

I will say that the site is well laid out, plenty of room, and nice and level. Furthermore there is a very good outside play area for children, although the games room would be crowded with more than six people in it, although that is immaterial.

The real bug bear for us were the facilities which are pretty grim, (Saying basic would be kind). They are certainly not modern, in fact, I would say in need of modernisation, and although basically clean, (loo's and showers) there were always a lot of stray hairs around, etc. The shower cubicles were covered by a nylon shower curtain which clung to you, and everyone else). The showers were difficult to regulate and you were likely to get a very hot one or a cool one.

Also during the night the site is not lit at all, not even the toilet blocks, so make sure you take a torch. Our final moan would be the rubbish disposal - or lack of it. While I am all for recycling, and would willingly recycle lots of items, there were only two standard size dustbins for general waste for the whole site. There were nine of us, and when you have three disposable bar-b-que's, plus meat trays, etc, you soon fill a black sack, which we then had to take to the local tip.

I think this place could be made into a goldmine, it is in a very good posistion
