The site has a great location 1 mile from the centre of Oxford.

Leave the car and cross the road to the park & ride bus station, costs £2. 40 return for each adult, kids under 16 ride free + free wifi on board.

Great to cycle or walk to the centre which takes about 30 mins.

Plenty to do around the city from bus & walking tours, climbing the spires, visits to the colleges & cathedral as well as following the inspector morse trails, Alice in wonderland story & Harry potter film locations. Blenheim palace is about 9 miles away & makes a great visit.

The site itself is situated behing a go outdoors store which owns it, but apparently only grant short one year lease's to the club, hence the reluctance to invest in the facilities.

The toilets are in the middle, a bit dated but clean, with plenty of hot water in the shower. Electricity was stated at 10amp but due to time of year of visit & units all having heating on, it really struggled and the whole site tripped out on a few occasions, don't know how it would cope if it was full.

No kids facilities on site, ie playground.

The pitches are fairly level but do undulate in places so ramps are recommended.

There is no motor home service point, as all the pitches are grass the motor homes generally park on all the paths, so the site can turn into a bit of a giant car park.

Mobile phone signal was good together with good tv reception.

A code is needed to get into the site which apparently changes on a Friday, which the wardens didn't warn us about, until we got back at 9. 30 on the Friday night and couldn't get in!

All in all decent site with a good location. Well worth visiting the area.

Really friendly welcome on arrival from fab wardens. This site is a tree surrounded haven on the edge of this popular city. A very busy little site probably due its location. Only half an hour walk into the city by either the roadway or riverside walk which is really pleasant, walking by the university boat houses and watching the rowers practice their sport whilst their coach peddles along the bank shouting instructions! Oxford is a fantastic city and well worthy of a few days visit, and this site is the best base for convenience.

I quite liked this site. Sure, the toilet/shower block have seen better days but they were perfectly functional. The staff were really friendly, especially when choosing a pitch and after we got in to a little trouble when our bikes were locked in oxford and we couldn't get the lock open. A frantic phone call and some borrowed WD40 did the trick.

The site was much better than I expected too. Some have been very negative about the area but you are really close to oxford centre but still surrounded by trees. Along with some resident ducks. You are right opposite the park and ride and the river is only a short walk away. We did follow the cycle route in to Abingdon. It's about 7 miles, mostly off road and quite flat. So I'd be more than happy to go back again.

First visit to this site, will definitely be back, yes the toilets are a bit dated, but they are CLEAN and that's all that matters, if people want porcelain toilets and marble showers, stay and pay for a hotel!

The site itself is well kept the wardens are perfect hosts, perfect for exploring oxford with the park and ride just outside the door. Who could want or ask for more from a camping -caravan trip. So let's be positive people. Life is too short.

Our second visit and still no improvements to the facilities block I still could not use washup facilities they being two sinks each side of the chemical toilet empting point and the grey waste drain at the side not very hygienic really. The showers and basins are showing their age and there are no privacy cubicles. But the site is in a perfect place for visiting Oxford and Abingdon (a lovely little place) being next to the park and ride and a bus stop at the entrance. The staff very helpful taking you to your pitch and helping you park up. There is a Tesco Express and Nisa round the corner and a Pub that does food and of course a fish and chip shop and a cooked chicken type café. We will be back but would love to see a new facilities block.

Nice to see some positive reviews for June on this forum.

I have been a regular visitor to this site since 1988, firstly as a backpacker, but more recently with a motorcycle. It still means I require a good clean site, a flat pitch, showers, dishwashing facilities, and to feel I can leave my gear safely in the tent.

I get all of this at Oxford. There has been uncertainty about the future of this site, and perhaps the washrooms need a 'touch up' but this site is perfect for Oxford. A 5 minute bus journey to the city centre!

The wardens are especially helpful and polite. Reading some of the earlier reviews makes me wonder what people actually expect from camping. I listed my expectations in the third paragraph.

For the benefit of reviewer Carol Jean: next time you visit, to get to the river- walk towards Oxford, turn right at Tesco Express and a 5-10 minute walk takes you to the Donington Bridge and the river.

I hope to be able to continue visiting this site again and again. Top marks!
