We found this gem of a campsite a few years ago and have stayed there for several long weekends since. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Great play area for kids and safe for them to cycle around the site. The facilities are undoubtedly the best we have come across. Cleaned regularly and well fitted out. Showers are always hot and very rarely had to wait as there are several to use. Tavistock is a great area to visit and the site is very close to Dartmoor to take advantage of the great walks.

The Peter Tavy Inn and the Trout and Tipple are great stop offs for food and refreshments.

This is our favourite site and location. The campsite is large and spacious with many trees and the River Tavey running past it. It has a very relaxed feeling and is absent of many signs telling what you can and cant do which we like.

The pitches that run along the river are best but they don't have electric hook up.

The facilities are good and showers are hot. There is a free tennis court and games room with table tennis and bar football.

It's a paradise for walking and Tavistock is a very good market town.

Been here 6 times in 3 years and will definitely be returning.

Have just spent a week at this lovely site. Easily accessible and about an 45 minute walk into Tavistock. We were met by friendly staff and were surprised to find that we were only the second unit on the site although it did fill up a little towards Easter. Our pitch was very large and in good condition despite the heavy rain they had just had. Lovely views over the bridge and river.

The toilet block was a few minutes walk and accessed by a good path. Clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. It was an extremely cold week and not many of us there but the block could have been just a tad warmer, other than that very good.

For those with dogs a lovely exercise field is available opposite the entrance. They can run free to their hearts content and the horses don't pay any attention.

Some very good walks direct from the site and the Peter Tavy is a must. Excellent food and good selection of local beer. It is dog friendly and they can go into all parts including the restaurant area.

If you venture into Tavistock and you like soup then try the coffee shop within the market they served a good selection of homemade soups. The farmers market on a friday was very good, small but full of lovely local produce. If travelling into town in a camper of motorhome parking behind the library on the plymouth road is fine.

Stayed here for a night last summer on the way to Cornwall, with 3 kids aged 9 to 13. Lovely site, we were lucky it was a lovely sunny day. Kids enjoyed paddling in the river and building a dam, good old fashioned kids fun. Lovely open space to play badminton etc that we bought with us. Indoor tabke tennis table. Nice hardstanding pitch for motorhome. We had a bit of a walk out in the lanes trying geocashing for the first time but we weren't very good at it lol. Only a brief visit but a very nice site.

Harford Bridge was the first outing for our new tent and we couldn't have asked for a better campsite. The only thing I would change (if I could) would be to live closer to Harford Bridge, making it easier to visit for the occasional weekend! Combined with the nearby Peter Tavy Inn, I cannot recommend the site enough.

The camp site was at about 50% capacity so we bagged a pitch along the edge of the river. Initially I had concerns that the noise of rushing water would be too loud (or worse, encourage late night trips to the toilet!) but if anything the sound was therapeutic.

A large group of families had booked several pitches near the children's play area and it was good to see the campsite catered for the younger campers - free range children!

There were a number of picnic benches dotted around which we took advantage of, but it would have been nice to know if we were allowed to move them (we did). In a busy period I can imagine some people getting territorial over 'their' picnic bench.

Each pitch was numbered and deep enough so that the door to the tent wasn't close to the track running through the site.

The toilets/showers/laundry/etc were a couple of minutes walk and to a very high standard. Toilets and showers were separated, with showers having a good divide between wet and dry areas.

Another nice touch was a TV/Library room near reception. For those spending a week or two in a tent, the little home comforts make all the difference especially when you simply cannot miss whatever reality show is on the box.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record and as other reviewers have said, the Peter Tavy Inn is a must (especially if you've been on a camping stove for a few days). It's about 30 minutes to walk, up a slight incline (but downhill on the way home!) on unpaved roads so we took the car.

The site is close to a number of lovely (albeit steep) cycle routes, so if you have two wheels, take them along.

We have visited this site many times in the past and have always found it to be excellent.

However, this time, being a double bank holiday weekend at the start of half term, we actually felt that it was over-crowded. There were many large groups with numerous children running wild.

The rules of the park quite clearly state 'no swimming', 'dogs on leads' and 'no noise between 11pm and 8am'. Unfortunately, several people did not adhere to these rules, making it less of a pleasant stay than normal.

Despite the rather damp! weather and the site being full, the staff managed to maintain their usual, very high, standard of cleanliness in the toilet/shower block.

As other reviewers have already stated, the site is within 2 miles of Tavistock and within a mile of the very good Peter Tavy Inn.

There are several types of pitch - from fully serviced to a patch of grass for your tent.

I would recommend this site (it is usually very pleasant and quiet) and we will return. Just not when school holidays and bank holidays coincide!
