This is a lovely site, with friendly staff. The facilities were excellent, from the really nice surroundings to the spotless toilets and showers, which were very economical at 20p a shower. We stayed on 'The Island' with a stream as a backdrop and there were sheep in a nearby field, which made it very tranquil. We have a large 8 man dome tent, which fitted into the pitch without any problem. There is a play area which would have been great if we had young children and the dog walking facilities are spot on. The pub right next to the site is also worth a mention. The staff and customers were very friendly although we had to sit outside with the dog, which was a bit cold. We will definitely be returning.

Had a brilliant weekend as the weather was wonderful, lovely clean campsite and very peaceful.

The pub Inn on the Green has recently been taken over and is only a couple of minutes walk from the site. Found it warm and welcoming had an excellent meal, great value and choice, went back on the Sunday for the carvery couldn't fault it. It caters for families which was great for us, there is a very pleasant garden to sit and enjoy. The local shop is less than 5 mins walk way which sell the essentials and more. Theres lots to see and do in the area we will be back

We first visited this site in 1985,when it was run from the pub at the entrance to site.My wife was pregnant with our first child. We returned to camp when we had two small boys, and have returned year after year for get away from it all week-ends. #

The boys are now in their twenties, and we have progressed from a tent to a touring caravan, with a 14 year old daughter and a dog ! We have never had a bad time at this site!

There are trout in the river, and after all these years I finally caught some this year ! Kids love this site. In the summer, kids wade along the river from one end of the site to the other.Theres a dedicated dog walking area (with free pooh bags supplied from the shop ).

I have a Range Rover classic, and we love exploring the legally driveable 'green lanes ' around the area, including ones that take you up the Long Mynd. If you drive down from the top at sunset on a clear day, you are facing it as you descend, and we stop to take in the extensive views of the marches.

In may, its always worth a visit to Clun, where they hold the green man festival (google green man, clun)in the meadow below the castle ruins. The green man battles the ice queen on the old bridge over the river. At August bank holiday, the vicarage in Wentnor, at the top of hill opposite the site, holds its garden fete where there is a pig roast and many stalls.

All with the stunning back-drop of the Long Mynd, where hang gliders, parascenders and gliders all can be seen on any fine week-end.This summer we spotted two Red kites about two miles from the site on the west side of the Mynd.

We have visited this site seven times this year, and we always find something or somewhere new to visit nearby. This year we discovered Snailbeach mine, a disused lead mine just about six miles from the site, near the Stiperstones, which hold open week-ends through out the year, when you can take underground tours !

Okay, the showers at the site aren't 'power showers ', but we don't mind. Overall the site is spacious, clean, friendly, dog friendly, kid friendly, with a pub at the entrance, a shop on site and accross the road.

Three more country pubs with in a five mile radius, plus the oldest brewery in England seven miles away at Bishops Castle, and another micro brewery at the other end of the town !

If you do end up approaching from the north from shrewsbury, and are concerned about the sharp right turn into the site, then just turn round on the pub car-park, and come in the other way !

So, if you see a dark green range rover classic next to an ABI Award Globestar whilst your there, and need any guidance on places to visit in the area, then please feel free to ask ! Bob.

Spent a weekend on this site in our MH. Nice location but if you are on the hook up field it does feel very much like any other campsite. We were given a hard standing pitch for our MH which was nice and level. The pitches did seem a little on the small side and very uniform with no privacy but that can be the price you pay when you give up canvas for metal.

Shop was very well stocked and staff were very pleasant and helpful. Shower block was very large with plenty of facilities but please be aware that as it is a converted barn, it does get cold and damp when the weather is miserable. I went for a shower in the afternoon and was surprised to find there was a charge of 20p, which seems a little pointless to me. The showers were spotless and empty but the long spacious shower was not best utilised. There was no shelf or stool on which to place you belongings to keep them dry, just a couple of hooks at the far end. The owners could consider purchasing some plastic stools for such a purpose. I must admit, I like a hot powerful shower but have to make do when out of on the road but the shower was pitiful! Uneven temperature and very low pressure. When my husband returned from a cycling event after 8 hours in the saddle in the rain, mud and drizzle he was so cold and needing a good shower but he did not get it.

A word for other MH owners - using sat nav if coming from the north can be very dangerous indeed, either use a map/directions or get a sat nav with 'truck' setting. Also there is no MH service point so you will have to think about getting rid of your grey water and filling up with clean as it possible but it isn't easy.

All in all, I can imagine that this site would be great for families and campers in good weather as there did seem to be children enjoying the surroundings and the stream, but in a van in poor weather, I guess we didn't experience the site at it's best. Oh and last word, a lot of the shops in Bishops Castle are closed Mondays & Wednesdays.

My husband and I visited this site with my parents at the August Bank Holiday weekend. The site had experienced a lot of rain the day before our arrival and the ground was pretty wet. There are hard standings available (which my parents were lucky to get) and these are ideal. Reception staff were friendly and check in was efficient.

The site is pretty with a lovely stream passing through with lots of trees and bushes; very popular with the children on the site! The site is predominantly split into two areas, one for hooks ups, one for non hook ups; both areas are a mix of tents and caravans.

The shower/toilet blocks although very clean are not the best we have seen on sites and the showers are ‘pay as you go’.

Note of warning, unfortunately, there is virtually no TV signal and there is currently no ‘free view’, so really if you want TV you need to have a satellite dish. I did have a problem with my radio and mobile phone (O2).

There is a small shop on site that offers the usual essentials; however, there is an excellent well stocked shop just a couple of minutes walk from the site entrance. At the entrance to the site there is a lovely pub called ‘The Inn on the Green’ and serves very good food.

If you like good country pubs there are a couple within 5 minutes drive. Firstly, there is the Crown Inn at Wentnor (pass the shop and up a steep hill) or the Horseshoe Inn at Bridges.

Driving up the Long Mynd is a must, try and take the road up pass the Gliding Club (on the OS map); the views are stunning. Church Stretton is worth a visit too.

All in all the we really enjoyed the time on the site, would stay here again if visiting this area again

Just had 3 nights here over the weekend. Site seemed full over friday & saturday night but certainly not busy as facilities where ample.Nice size pitches - plenty for our 8 berth.

We were pitched on the hook up field under the trees by the stream which kept the kids entertained most of the weekend - hurrah for wellies and a fishing nets!- had a showery couple of days but loos and showers kept clean of mud and grass.

Very quiet at night with just the stream flowing by. Some lovely walks with fabulous views. Will definitely return
