August 2005 We have just returned from 5 nights at oakdene and had a great time. On the positive side, the facilities are great shop, cafe, night entertainment and pool area.We pitched in the meadows area and the pitches are of a good size. On the down side there is a lack of toilet, showers and washing up facilities. The toilets in the meadows are 2 portloos which are in a poor condition, the nearest blocks are a 5 minute walk further on which are portacabins but are in good condition and are kept in a very clean state.
Overall the good points outwiegh the bad points and on the whole site is very good.

July 2005 Quite a nice site set in woodland with many footpaths and cycle trails. Taking the bus into Bournemouthe is probably a good idea as parking is extrememly expensive! (£6 for 4 hours)and also very difficult with a motorhome as most town centre car parks are multi storey. The site was ok - a bit crowded with fairly small pitches. The pitches in the meadow are probably better and the toilets and showers there are far superior despite being portaloos! All the facilities were cleaned regularly. Pool and other facilities were good although shop a little expensive

February 2005 Very friendly staff on site. Well out of season but most facilities open. As the entertainment block is less than a year old very clean and inviting. Showers modern and clean. One small gripe nowhere to put anything if you are showering.... a shelf would be handy especially if like me you have glasses etc to take off. Very reasonably priced. Would visit again.

July 2004 First time we had been on holiday 'out of season'; first time we had tried out our new tent, which took a real battering through the storms! All in all, could have been a real disaster but wasn't because of the site. Pitch was fine although some others did get flooded during our stay (to be fair, the weather conditions were pretty extreme).
Excellent facilities: shower block etc. modern, well maintained and near: our two teenage girls enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and steam room everyday; club was comfortable and entertainment reasonable if you stayed on site in the evening although beware, drinks quite expensive.
Shop well stocked and friendly as were vast majority of staff; everything near and handy; easy journey to Bournemouth or out into New Forest- both within about 20 mins.We liked it so much that we're going back again in September...... can't say fairer than that!

May 2004 This site has a lot of static caravans and the onsite facilities reflect that ie swimming pool, health club, bars, restaurant etc. The camping pitches are at the far end of the site and quite a distance from the play area. Pitches are large, with electric if you want. The main problem is that the closest facilities for camping are in Portacabins, which are ok and are cleaned regularly but for some campers (not us thankfully) they are still quite a walk. We were camping with 4 other families so it didn't really matter where we stayed, but I'm not sure whether we would come here again if we were on our own.

May 2004 This was our first time at a Shorefield Holiday Centre. Oakdene has had a £4 million investment this year to include club, bar, arcade, takeaway/cafe, crazy golf, indoor and outdoor pool with sauna and steam room. The staff were really friendly with the exception of lazy over zealous life guards. The pitches were OK, level and spacious, but one must remember that Oakdene is a country park, so the ground is naturally uneven. The serviced pitches looked a bit cramped, but nicely laid out with gravel awning areas. The loos and showers were clean and only 2 years old. We enjoyed our stay, quite pricy at peak times but bargain off-peak. If you are put in 'The Meadows' at busy times, it is a good 5-7 minute walk to the facilities, but nice and quiet nonetheless. Recommended.
