This site always gets ‘A’ for effort. The women running the place couldn’t be friendlier, more helpful or more genuinely interested in making your stay a pleasant one. Reception is open for 11. 5 hours, plenty of leaflets on the local area, good advice on what to do and where to eat, weather report displayed (though every time I went to look there was quick check on the internet for me as well – without asking!).

Drainage on the grass pitches has been massively improved since our first visit, but there are still problem areas. We thought we had picked a high enough patch, but found a lake under the tent when we packed up – our next door neighbours were bone dry!

Playpark is lovely, with things to do for toddlers as well as older children. The local area is also great for families – Blair Drummond Safari Park is our main destination. We also like the park at the foot of the Wallace Monument – if weather is good enough you can nip down to Corrieri’s for ice-cream. This time we tried the Peak swimming pool – very good for small children with a separate little pool (adjustable height floor) and a paddling bit with fountains and little slide. Gabe’s Diner (near swimming pool) is highly recommended. Excellent breakfast menu and very high quality Italian and Thai food (NOT in any way a greasy spoon!).

The big downside, for us, is the shower block. There’s no family room and access is by key, so getting three children’s’ teeth brushed is a bit more awkward than we’d like. The showers aren’t suitable for little ones, though you might be able to get access to the disabled shower room if you ask for a key. Pressure is low, hot water is by pushing a button – you get 8 minutes. You can reach the button from the shower!

Indoor washing up area, fridge and freezer in the laundry room. Highly recommended. If the shower blocks were upgraded slightly we’d be happy to spend a week here, as it is we still return every year.

Stayed at Witches Craig just for one night to meet up with friends. It's a very tidy campsite with good clean facilities and a fabulous playpark for children.

The pitches are fairly level and the ground was easy and stone-free. Plenty of room between pitches - although the site was quite busy, it wasn't overcrowded at all. Showers and toilets were very clean and well-kept, with plenty of hot water.

The playpark is the biggest I've seen in a campsite, and my children (6 and 8) just loved it. There were roads all around the campsite in big loops - perfect for practising bike riding!

Locally there are loads of things to do - Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Bannockburn and Blair Drummond Safari park, all of which I would recommend.

This was a great campsite, we got to choose our pitch ourselves which is a bonus.

The lady on reception said it had been raining for a while and said it was really wet so was we sure about staying for longer than a couple of days, we ended up staying for a whole week because the weather was so great. We never had to move pitch even all though it said we could be made moved.

It was a shame about the toilets being on a key lock system but we could see the reason for it as they were kept very clean and tidy.

As this was a five mins drive from Stirling it was a nice central location from the site, even when walking it is was fine for taking the dog out as well.

The hills at the back of the site was also good for taking the kids up as well, through the sheep. All in all it was a really good campsite, the weather was one of the hottest summers for the season.

A pleasant site close to all that Stirling has to offer, set under the 'Wallace' monument, bordered by superb views.

The site is level, with hard standing (gravel) & has clear defined pitch borders. There is a large tent field, & a good dog walk through the nearby woods.

Our stay there spread over a weekend & it soon became full & felt 'busy' expect that during peak season. There is a quality Shower & toilet facility block with wash-ups but from where we were located felt too far away, the season caravan pitches seem to be located more adjacent to the block. Motor Home 'dump' & chemical disposal area of European standards.

All TV reception is good here.

Would return when in the area but would ask to be located near/in the 'car park' area.

Very friendly staff on arrival and gave us all the information we needed for our stay at the site and our visit into Stirling. We were given a bus timetable - 2 minute walk to the bus stop for Stirling. There is also a park and ride nearby but we didn't use, so can't comment.

The site is near a busy road but we were located in the area away from the road and honestly did not hear any traffic noise. Toilets and showers excellent and clean. Also had laundry and washing up facilities, but we didn't use these so can't comment.

Would we visit again? - absolutely.

The only downside for us (and this is a personal thing) there wasn't a pub within walking distance for a drink or two in the evening, but buses from Sterling ran into the night so not too big an issue.

PS - we don't have children so cannot comment on child friendliness but the play area looked OK!
