Other reviewers have summed up this site accurately. It is beautifully quiet, spotlessly clean and well kept, by Dave and Chris who are so helpful and friendly. The sunsets are divine and the constant wind keeps the midges away. Tranquil is a word that describes our two week holiday there. We did travel around the peninsula and saw the sights and beautiful scenery, we also took the afternoon cruise to Islay which was very enjoyable if you like boats - which we do!

Mostly though we spent our time on the rocks overlooking the sea watching the cormorants drying their wings, the gannets diving and seals basking in the sunshine - not forgetting the otter. We also saw the otter several times in the stream next to the site. The bird observatory on the rocks in Machrihanish is well worth a visit too. There is one pub in the village that serves good food, but no shops, the nearest are in Campbeltown, which is like stepping back in time - marvellous!

Visited this site for the second time this summer and all I can say is the drive is well worth it! Site is very well looked after. Our kids loved the crazy golf and playing football even when it rained they went fishing in the river at the bottom of the garden.

Beach is a 5 min walk away and is stunning! Campbeltown swimming pool is a must, great value for money we spent a full morning in there when it rained.

Toilets and showers are well maintained and clean. Great to see a warden going round the site a 11pm to ensure the site is all quiet! Kids already asking when we can go back! Kids want to give this site 10 out of 10!

We have just spent 5 lovely days at the site and it is a credit to the owners. The campers caravan is a fabulous idea I only wish other campsites were as considerate, free use of ice blocks, TV and microwave available. Everything was spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend it and we hope to go back in the future.

If you go to the Mull of Kintyre lighthouse be ready for an energetic walk back up the hill! Davaar island worth a visit at low tide, check with the Tourist Information Centre in Campbeltown for safe crossing times as there is only a 6 hour window each day.

Caradale beach worth a visit watch for the small signs for the beach in Caradale village, you drive through a couple of farmers gates but access is allowed and you come to a lovely shallow beach as good as any in the Caribbean.

Our first visit to this campsite and hopefully not our last. Great site and very friendly staff. Toilets were always clean. Free hot showers and a great disabled / family shower room for people with small children or disabled.

Site was superb with views over to Jura and the sunsets were simply stunning. Site is designed with some small dunes to protect from onshore breezes - of which there were a few - but the upside is that this means no midgies!

Campeltown is only 5 miles away and the new Aqualibrium combines a pool with an on-site library to provide entertainment on a wet day. The site also has a number of wooden wigwams which look like a lot of fun and we may try them next time around.

You are right next to a 3 mile sandy beach and world standard golf course. The pub in Machrihanish is good but pricey.

This is our third visit to this site and yet again we were not disappointed. The people who visit here are so friendly and we have always made new friends here.

The campsite toilets are always clean & well kept. The wee shop on the site is great but we would love to have bought our newspapers there. The sunset at night time is spectacular and the beach is awesome.

Midges virtually nil cause of the slight breeze. We will be back yet again to this very friendly site.

After reading Fiona's review from last August, it sounded too good to be true but she certainly wasn't exaggerating.

Initially we had intended taking the tent but when we saw the wigwams on the website, that clinched it. We know what it's like to be subjected to the gales and horizontal rain coming in off the Atlantic, so for a wee bit extra these sounded like a brilliant alternative, considering this was still mid May. We spent four very cosy nights and will definitely go again. The wigwams are very well equipped with comfortable mattresses, a couple of chairs, kettle, microwave, toaster, dishes and cutlery, and panel heater which we didn't need but could have been very handy had the weather not been so accommodating.

The site, which is run by Dave and Chris, was immaculate, we often saw Dave on his buggy cutting grass and one damp misty morning around 7am, Chris was on her knees tending to a row of new plants.

The surrounding area maybe isn't what a young family would be looking for, but if you love wildlife and the natural peace we can highly recommend it and the scenery is fantastic. Just after we arrived in Campbeltown on our first day, we were welcomed by a couple of seals in the harbour and after that it was quite common to see seals basking on rocks in the Machrihanish Bay. We didnít manage to see the otter in the burn at the back of the camp (our neighbours did), but we did see one of the two white rabbits that have burrows on the embankment.

We fully intend to visit again, possibly at a different time of the year, to catch up on the things we missed and to revisit the things we loved. Four days wasnít enough. On the one side we donít want it to get too busy for our next visit, but Dave and Chris deserve recognition for all the hard work they put in.
