After reading Fiona's review from last August, it sounded too good to be true but she certainly wasn't exaggerating.

Initially we had intended taking the tent but when we saw the wigwams on the website, that clinched it. We know what it's like to be subjected to the gales and horizontal rain coming in off the Atlantic, so for a wee bit extra these sounded like a brilliant alternative, considering this was still mid May. We spent four very cosy nights and will definitely go again. The wigwams are very well equipped with comfortable mattresses, a couple of chairs, kettle, microwave, toaster, dishes and cutlery, and panel heater which we didn't need but could have been very handy had the weather not been so accommodating.

The site, which is run by Dave and Chris, was immaculate, we often saw Dave on his buggy cutting grass and one damp misty morning around 7am, Chris was on her knees tending to a row of new plants.

The surrounding area maybe isn't what a young family would be looking for, but if you love wildlife and the natural peace we can highly recommend it and the scenery is fantastic. Just after we arrived in Campbeltown on our first day, we were welcomed by a couple of seals in the harbour and after that it was quite common to see seals basking on rocks in the Machrihanish Bay. We didnít manage to see the otter in the burn at the back of the camp (our neighbours did), but we did see one of the two white rabbits that have burrows on the embankment.

We fully intend to visit again, possibly at a different time of the year, to catch up on the things we missed and to revisit the things we loved. Four days wasnít enough. On the one side we donít want it to get too busy for our next visit, but Dave and Chris deserve recognition for all the hard work they put in.

Lovely clean, flat sight, fab views of the area. The beach is just gorgeous, wide and sandy, the pub 15 mins walk. The facilities are excellent, big showers, plenty of hot water and space to hang up your clothes and towels. The toilets well kept and clean. There is a campers room (static caravan) which is a nice touch and would be welcoming if the weather was really bad. Theyíve even created a little garden down by the river. It was pretty windy while we were there, but not too bad.

The owners were friendly and welcoming. All in all, a great site, with loads to offer, especially if you like golf.

This has to be one of the best value sites in Scotland. Having just been stung for 33 GBP per night at the Carradale site (CC), I was amazed that the cost for an electric pitch here was one third that: effectively, we had two free nights here, or saved enough for us both to play the 9 hole golf course at Machrihanish. (Yet this site has many features that Carradale did not have, but that's not for this review!)

Other reviewers have summed up this site accurately - it's very well kept; flat; quiet; widely spaced pitches; two toilet blocks (never far to walk), one with a disabled/family 'suite'; it's popular with surfers judging by the wet suits drying on the fence; the road isn't busy enough to be noisy; it has views over all three of the Machrihanish golf courses, and sunset views of the Paps of Jura that I could draw from memory right now; exposed (you can see Tangy windfarm taking advantage of the wind), but tents can hunker down behind a grassy bank; a very relaxed and laid back owner. The dog run is tiny, but sufficient for the essentials. The fabulous beach (less than a mile away) is so long that we didn't manage to walk to the far end.

I'd readily come back again. And there are a few timber wigwams as an alternative.

What a fabulous site this is and so clean with everything you could need for a super break.

This was only our second outing in a caravan and we were given such a warm welcome by the owners who could not do enough to make our stay the best ever. Our dog Jonus a Bernese Mountain dog had such a lovely time there as the site provides a fabulous dog run where you can let your pet off the lead for a while.

We have family in Campbeltown and being on this site allowed us to visit them and to have family members come and visit us on the site. Thank you so much to the owners for all their help we will be back again soon.

Superb site if peace and tranquility are what you are after, Dave and his wife were so helpful when we arrived it was like meeting a family member. This was our first visit.

Granted the site was not full when my wife and I visited but nonetheless, we have been to more expensive sites where there were less facilities.

Toilet blocks were immaculate with even dish washing cloths, scourers available. A crazy putting area and a fishing station. The shop was fine for most needs.

An excellent beach no more than ten minutes away and best of all for me the golf course.

Unfortunately the restaurant (15mins walk ) was being refurbished but the golf club served us well.

The scenery when you drive round Southend and up to carradale was breath taking.

Spent almost a month on this site having come from Spain for a few months during the summer. Lovely site. Beautifully kept, very well drained (we noticed because we had a lot of rain!). Owners Chris and Dave obviously very proud of their site. Good toilet blocks cleaned regularly and an on site shop stocking basic needs. Lovely scenery and Campbeltown only a short drive away. Will definitely be back.
