Fantastic site!  Great facilities, very relaxing holiday. It's not too pricey to camp down there because at the end of the day your paying for a fantastic holiday and all of the top class facilities. I found the shop can be rather expensive though - so make sure you take everything you need!   Camp site is a stones throw away from the beach which personally I feel is one of the nicest beaches in Gower.
Going down there this July for 5 days and I can not wait!
Definitely recommend going down, See you down there!

A little bit expensive for an unserviced site. Whilst good for several single people staying in a tent, £18 seemed a little steep for a family. Also on arrival they wanted us to pay for two nights even though we only intended staying for one. This, we were told was because we were likely to stay a second night and it would save them from trying to find us to pay up for second night! Needless to say we had to search for someone for a refund when we left after the first night.

Also worth noting is that this site is used by party people and as such the beach is often strewn with glass and cans. Just need to be vigilant with little ones.

What a lovely site. Nice, flat clean pitches with dedicated family areas but beware, where there are rushes, there is water. Don't try and drive to that 'lovely' looking spot as, like others did, you'll get stuck. The fields have protection from the sea winds by the sand dunes, which the kids loved playing in. The smart new toilet block was generally very clean but the one afternoon, I had a cold shower, Brrrr!
The campsite shop sells basic provisions, tat and papers but the bistro offers good food at a good price. £34 for for meals and 4 drinks. This is a surfing haven and as such, attracts the surf dudes to the beautiful and stunning beach but parents should be aware of strong rip tides with the little ones. That said, the gently sloping, sandy beach should otherwise be of little concern as long as common sense is applied. We stayed 3 nights over the Easter B/H weekend with an unserviced pitch at a cost of £54.
The pub is a good uphill walk away and nearest town and shops about 15-20 minutes drive away.
I'll go back there, no worries.

A great place. You can wager the prices will go up year on year, but its in such an incredible location that shouldn't come as a surprise. Between 05 and 06 they've blown some of that money on a new shower block, which is a massive improvement.
Shop good (its by the entrance for those that missed it), well stocked, and will loan you chiller blocks for your cool box at a reasonable price.
As stated, it gets massively busy before the weekends, obviously more so in the summer. If the people onthe gate say to you 'oh you'll have no problem getting in' if you've got mates coming on the friday night, ignore them - this is crap. Paying in advance for people arriving on the friday is the only way to ensure your friends can get in. But sod that, go on a thursday and have a long weekend!
Pub staggering distance away with good food.
My over riding memory of my last visit is some unfortunate lad that had clearly spent the day on the beach drinking, and had ended up with sun stroke, so at times, expect to hear some gut-wrenching noises from the toilets, and lots of lads outside laughing at the misfortune of their mate until one has the sense to phone an ambulance.

Took three of my kids camping here for five nights as our first holiday since my divorce. In their words: "the best holiday they've ever had and the best campsite ever."

We drove for six hours - risky as you can't book, signs on the way into the village said the site was full, but when we arrived I was told there was still space in the family fields and that the staff had overestimated when they put the signs out - a big relief! It was worth the risk and the worry - Hillend is a really friendly, relaxed site, the location behind the beach is ideal and the atmosphere laid back. The new shower block was spotless (I'm fussy) and large enough to cope with a full site. But in addition to all that, it's the people both running the site and camping that make Hillend a really relaxing place to stay. You could dispense with a cooker and eat in the on-site cafe without breaking the bank and the views, walks, surfing and beach are splendid.

We're going again next summer for an even longer stay.

As promised by owner this year loads of loo paper and modern toilets / shower blocks,  It is a shame some campers can't keep them that way.  Get up early if you want a shower that is hot and clean!
This camp site is set in a most beautiful setting being a few minutes walk from Rhossili Beach.  This is surfers paradise but please note there are no life guards and the water can be treacherous.  Sand dunes acted as buffers against the wind. Fantastic views and walks.   We recommend this area for those who want to get away to a country side setting by the sea.  I sat watching the moon starting appear from behind the hills as sheep and horses graized and buzzards swooped.
Huge plots and loads of space for kids to play. This is a laid back site; be warned, our next door campers kept us awake until 4am and that was in the family field.  We also noticed noisy groups of teenagers in playing field until late into the evening.
Staff friendly and shop well stocked.  £15 a night during week we thought very reasonable.   Cafe, with amazing views, serves breakfast for under £5 and a meal for under £7.  The cafe is licensed and closes at 7 pm.
Pony trekking at Parc-le-Breos cost £30 for the day and is a great way to explore hidden bays and moorland.  The Gower Heritage Center is useful for a dull day if you have small children.  Swansea is a 30 minute drive.  There are boat trips from Port Eynon and sailing at Oxwich bay.
