On arrival this site looks brilliant - a lovely wooden reception / shop and well kept pitching areas.

Although the sign shows a shop / reception these aren't open until the end of the month so you pay at the house. £19 for 2 adults with ehu.

We pitched on the hard standing overlooking a stunning view down to the bay.

Toilets / showers are very disappointing - on the lower pitches 1 shower / 2 toilets each for men / ladies. On the next level 3 toilets / 2 showers - there is a 3rd level but we didn't go that far up. Not only are there simply not enough facilities they are old and need replacing. The shower gave luke warm water and the plug hole was blocked with hair. The rest of the site is kept up really well and they are currently building a lovely veranda onto the shop - the money would be better spent in the facilities.

The pitches are not marked out and it appears you can park pretty much where you like. Despite owner advising you have to park at right angles 2 other vehicles parked side on to the views and no one asked them to move. During the evening a motor-home came in and decided to pitch between us and another motor-home - without exaggeration this left 3 ft between each vehicle.

We wouldn't use again - fairly expensive and not value for money.

We stayed here on the first night of the season last year, us and 1 other couple. The owner/only member of staff on site was unhelpful, and a little rude. However, this is the only campsite I've found in the oban area that takes dogs, so what choice do we have?

The facilities are average, but when the park is busy, there is a line for the shower. Not good if your day is planned or you have a ferry to catch.

We pitched in the lower field as it is away from the park (and the children!) and found it to be very quiet with a lovely view. I did notice that there are a lot of stones around. I'd imagine that when they are cutting the grass they could pick some of these up to make it a little softer.

Other than that, I have nothing more to say. I will be back, but only because I love oban and the campsite is such a small part of the trip.

Arrived here on a Saturday early evening in torrential rain. We only needed to stay for the 1 night prior to sailing to Barra from Oban on the Sunday.

On arrival there was a notice at reception saying that it wasn't open until the last weekend in May and to book in at the farmhouse. We headed to the farmhouse door like two drenched rats to book in and were met by the rudest man that I have ever encountered. I asked politely if we could book for 1 night and making no eye contact whatsoever with me, he barked out the one word - 'surname', followed by - 'nineteen pounds fifty', followed by - 'turn left after reception, don't park on the grass' and that was the full extent of the friendly welcome that we were given!

The only thing to commend this park as the facilities were ok but nothing great is the beautiful view over to the island of Kerrera, which even in the rain, was lovely, and the close proximity to Oban and the ferry terminal.

Stayed here on 6/7 July, right at the start of the Scottish holidays. We were camped on the main field which, although it doesn’t have marked pitches, there are some EHUs and they’re not always easy to spot in the undergrowth so look carefully before pitching (a friend was asked to move her tent).

One concern from the CCC members in our group was that there wasn’t a 6m rule applied – felt this was a safety issue. This field is large, slightly sloping but with good views in one direction. There is a small field below the reception and I was given the choice but it was quite a climb to the toilet block so opted for the large field. The previous week had been very wet but the site wasn’t boggy though a bit of mud where cars pulled off the track.

We’d been told just to turn up and had no problem although I can see this site getting very busy during main season. The shop was well-stocked although a bit pricey (80p per tent peg – so don’t do what I did and forget the pegs for the storm guys!).

The road to the site is single track with passing places and when queuing to pay, several people with large units in front of me had found it difficult; however, I’m not sure if this was lack of experience on single track roads or the physical size of unit. There can be a minor hazard (but an enjoyable one!) near reception – ducks crossing!

The toilet block at the top of the field was basic and clean but inadequate I would imagine in full season. Two families with young children were on the site and they filled the ladies side of the block when they came in together. There’s a small play area (although if not busy, there’s plenty of space on the upper field for ball games) and a games room and a dog walk through oakwoods.

Oban is a good base for touring the area and to catch the ferries out to the islands. There’s plenty of pubs and places to eat (try the kiosk on the Calmac pier for crab, salmon, oysters, etc.).

Once again, very satisfying camping experience, weather was nice a tiny bit more midges than in may but fine really. 100% go back, the site has stunning views tidy and clean, ok staff, pets welcome. Fantastic base for visiting the west coast and its islands. Local town of Oban only under 3 miles away. Campsite has nice shop, tv room with pool table, and a few games machines, notice board of where to go and what to do. Overall very happy with this site, be back soon.

This was about our 4th or 5th stay on this site, as it's handy as a stop-off overnight for the ferries or travelling further North. We stayed 2 nights this time, to unwind from our day's travelling from Lancashire, and so I could visit the Coliseum-like folly up on the hill overlooking Oban - well worth a visit!

The site itself was quiet - unlike last year, as the Scottish school holidays hadn't started, so we had plenty of spaces to choose where to pitch, and no queues for showers. As other people have said, there needs to be more showers for busy times of the year - two are insufficient. I wouldn't come here during any school holidays as I hate crowded campsites with insufficient facilities, also last year the hot water for washing up ran out - but plenty this time.

Oban is really easy to drive into either along the coastal road - or the back way along a narrow lane and through a gate and over a railway bridge, which brings you down to the Lidl and Tesco supermarkets on the outskirts. Energetic people could walk it, but that's not for me!
