We stayed here at the end of August and were lucky to have some lovely days.

We travelled from the Lizard at the bottom end of Cornwall and found the directions easy to follow and sign posting very clear - which is handy if, like us, you get lost easily.

Fantastic site, beautiful surroundings and good sized pitches. Food in the bar was good but stay away from Chinese and Indian take away in Ashburton their food was not good, eight of us bought take outs and no one enjoyed their meal. We had been recommended this campsite and will be telling others about it.

Our children are 3, 8 and 10 and had the most fantastic time, the activities in the woods kept them very entertained - us grown ups had a go on some of them. The pirate ship in the lake looked great, next year we're bringing a dingy for the children to use on the lake. The walks around the woods are lovely and the secret valley was very tranquil and pretty, we found a quiz which you could fill in by finding out facts from information signs throughout the park, I thought they could have had different treasure hunts perhaps one you pay to enter and can find a prize at the end.

It was amazing how with so many people camping you did not ever feel crowded either on the pitches or in any part of the park. Reception staff were friendly, and the guys at the bar were lovely particularly when one of our little girls fell over and we needed a bit of first aid. There was a small games room and large bar / cafe area to escape to if needs be. Only downside for me were the toilets which where we camped were a bit tatty.

We will however be booking again next year !

This was our first camping experience, and it absolutely chucked it down so we were grateful of the plentiful facilities available. It's a large busy site, and my biggest gripe was the noise levels by some ignorant campers late on who openly ignored the rulebook and gassed away excessively until the early hours.

As a fully experienced camper of 6 weeks now I have to confess that I prefer the smaller quieter sites. However I am sure my 3 year old Son will have plenty to say about that as he gets older so I am certain that we will be back again next summer.

We arrived to find out that they had booked us on a hardstanding pitch we had booked a tent pitch and the booking confirmation even stated tent pitch, we were then told that they were booked up and offered us a patch of grass (not even a pitch) that only just fit our tent and had to pitch partly on gravel. Due to the torrential rain the kids couldn't do much even the toddler section was flooded. The toilet/shower blocks were not cleaned very often and could do with an upgrade (the mens toilets in the main area was closed due to flooding) Obviously the rain put a 'dampener' on things, the site is beautifully located and on the whole seems pretty well run with lots to do if the weather is at least a bit ok!

What a great place! Even though it rained most of the week this did not ruin our holiday. The campsite itself became a bit muddy but the ground seemed to drain well (quite a few pitch areas are sloping). The play activities are set amongst the trees & great fun & suitable for all ages. Even a mini zip wire in the toddler area!
The 'beach' and pirate ship area are very good for children of all ages. The water is not too deep - don't forget to bring water pistols & inflatable dighies! Wetsuits(available to buy at the camp shop or very cheap at Trago Mills!), are very useful to have. Beautiful scenery in and around the campsite.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The shop had all the essentials including camping items & was competitively priced for a camp shop.
The main toilet block could do with an upgrade but was regularly cleaned. The toddler & main pools are basic but heated (the pool changing rooms could do with an upgrade). The site turned out to be very good value for money.
We only left the site twice all week as so much to do on-site. Plenty to do & visit in the local area too. China Blue Pottery at Totnes & Trago Mills weregreat for a couple of the wet afternoons we had. Tourist Info. Centre at Ashburton were very helpful.

If you are using electric hook up, some of the pitches are a long way from the mains box & would need an extention lead. Luckily we were able to hire this from the Warden's office but worth asking when you book as we were only told o/a.

We would definitely recommend & plan to visit again

Brilliant site, the facilities are excellent.Even though it rained all week this did not ruin our holiday. Most of the play activities are set amongst the trees. The beach and pirate ship area are very good for children of all ages, plenty for them to do.Tried the food in the cafe, good value and plenty of choice.Beautiful scenery in and around the campsite. The staff were very friendly and helpful and did everything they could to keep the site clean and safe, checking play equipment regularly and closing off areas of the tent field that were unsafe due to lots of rain.

Very good value for money as we did not need to leave the site all week even though it rained most days.

Will definitely be coming back to this camp site next year.

Just come back from this site and it is FAB in a gorgeous setting -The kids have such a massive variety of stuff all outdoors and water based (the site recommend a wet suit which we ignored then had to get one down there!) My 8 year could have spent an entire week on the play stuff and still not got bored. I also liked the fact that near the older kids stuff there is a toddler section (I also have a one year old) so I could keep the baby entertained (loved the baby zip line!) whilst being nearby for my eldest.

It was torrential rain the whole time we were there but my 8 year old was soaked anyway and we just made the best of it .

The showers could do with a few quid spending on them as they were very dated but ok. The water round the washing up area was cold at peak times but on the whole we will defo return.

Good site for kids.
