Thoroughly enjoyed week at bath, the site is beautifully set out and the pitches are very spacious, but so they should be at 28 pounds per night.

The toilet blocks are very good with plenty of room in the showers and I never had to queue.

The bad points are the shop, which doesn't sell newspapers (you have to walk half a mile up a large bank,) and no alcohol to make you use the onsite bar.

The restaurant only opens from 6 till 8.30 and the staff are pretty surly.

I would still go back because as an avid cyclist the cycle paths around bath are excellent

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at this site. So many positive points to say, the location is fantastic, 10 minutes from Bath, 30/40 mins to Longleat and within easy reach of some stunning spots such as Laycock (where Cranford, Harry Potter & various other thing have been filmed). About 40 mins to Wells and a little further to Glastonbury. One can also walk to nearby bus stop for buses straight into Bath and I noticed taxis come onto site too for those who may want a wee drink!

As for the site, well contrary to some reviews you will read, I found the staff to be very helpful indeed, they're not full of smiles but they are full of knowledge on the area and are a mine of information when prompted. The site is beautifully kept, having won David Bellamy Gold in 2007 and is very pretty indeed with a tinkling stream (not a threat to toddlers which was my main concern!). Perfect to drop stones or play pooh sticks. Lots of trees, birds and generally lovely all round.

Great play area for children, not directly near to the tent field so toddlers need to accompanied but fine for 6+ year olds to walk to themselves. The pub has a great outdoor seating area, fine inside, small but adequate with a pool table, just be prepared for a small menu, literally 4 or 5 dishes but ok for a meal after 6pm upon arrival day. BBQ's are allowed too which is lovely!

Toilet blocks are generally very clean with lovely hot water both morning and evenings and a great touch to leave a mop to keep things clean. Family bathrooms too are available upon deposit, which is refundable.

My only gripe is the size & layout of the pitches. It's rather regimented, the tent field is in three very long rows with tracks for cars in between. We have a vango oregon 800 and once pitched with car adjacent, it did leave a little room for table, bbq & chairs but no room to play should the site have been full. Lovely place to roam around but not great for kicking a ball with my boys close to the tent for example. All pitches are numbered and pre chosen so it would have been very snug if the site was full.

In summary, we would definitely stay here again, perhaps not during peak season though. This being said, it really is a beautiful site, great location & absolutely ideal for touring.

Visited the site for two nights with two tents, 4 adults and 3 kids (6, 3 and 2 yrs)

Good points:

Very clean, good toilets, showers etc. With no queues. Easy booking (on the day) via the website.

Bad points:

Camp was pretty souless and regimented, and our pitch was only just big enough to get our tent on (and it's not huge)

The food in the 'pub' was very limited, no veggie options and no kids menu, but it was very good value for money (£6 for ham egg and chips, £8 for scampi) and you got a good plateful.

I think this site is a bit jeykll and hyde, as the small camping field looked lovely, by the river and not set out in pitches, more my cup of tea. We were put in the main field, where it is terraced and it is 'car-tent-car-tent' in rows. Not good for groups wanting to pitch together.

To sum up, it was OK, if you are going on your own, and want a fab location (very close to Bath)

PS beware of the flies and take plenty of citronella candles!

I booked 2 pitches early in the year for the 2nd BH in May and into the half term week, I was given a ref number and that was the last of the comms from them.

Couple of weeks prior to the BH, I rang up to find that it had changed hands and that the booking ref was obsolete. After some searching my booking was found and then after some more searching my friend's too was found.

On arrival the price we were quoted didn't seem right but paid up and decided to look at our notes later. We had indeed been charged the new prices and not those at the time of the booking, the owners were happy to refund the difference.

The site however is wonderful, quite, clean and a stone's throw away from Bath City Centre and the Bath to Bristol cycle path; however you need to cross a busy road to get to it and it’s not very well sign posted, basically it’s a short cut.

The ages of the kids in our group range between 5-8yrs and they enjoyed themselves playing in the shallow stream that runs through the site or in the playground, they were also able to use their bikes. No need for expensive entertainment. They loved it!

Caravans & motor homes are in a different area to the tent pitches which are large enough for my 6 person dome tent and my friend’s 8 person tunnel tent, there’s also a small meadow near the stream for small tents with no electric requirements.

The shop was ok (we shopped in the Sainsbury’s which is 1.8 miles away), when we asked for newspapers they only supply them at week ends otherwise you need to go to the CostCutter 5 minutes walk from the site. We didn’t try the restaurant / bar.

Toilet and shower blocks were clean and adequate and for an extra charge you can use the family bathroom. The washing up room had 4 sinks and I never had to wait to use one.

We would like to come back again as we thoroughly enjoyed the chilled atmosphere of this site, the only thing that might give us second thoughts is the high prices for this year. This may explain why after the BH the tent area was quite empty yet it was half term week

Stayed for 2 nights on the last (glorious) weekend of May. Excellent, level hard standing pitch next to stream with enough room for awning and car. Wardens very friendly and helpful, providing TV aerial leads with £10 deposit for piped in channels BBC1+2, ITV 1,2+3, Ch4. No problems with power supply.

Well located along a valley with easy access to Bath up the hill or along cycle path, to roads where buses stop regularly. (Dogs permitted on bus FOC). Very quiet apart from occasional trains on the main line, only noticeable when outside.

Tent areas look great particularly the below mentioned meadow on the other side of the stream. Understand camping area may be reduced in future, being converted to additional caravan hard standings.

Toilet block in caravan area found wholly adequate with no queues noted, well appointed and maintained clean throughout with abundant supply of hot water.

Shop stocks the usual necessities and pub on site seemed reasonably busy - good beer and choice of local ciders, didn't partake of food but noted plenty of people eating.

Bath is a most beautiful city with many attractions concentrated within a small area. We were convinced we were abroad and not in the UK. To find a campsite of this standard so convenient to such a city is indeed fortunate and we are very likely to return.

Visited for one night on Bank Holiday Weekend late May , 2009, with one tent and 2 walkers. Price was decent for holiday weekend at 16.50 pounds for both.
Very convenient to Bath (30 minute walk, or bus at top of hill), picturesque setting and despite the site being very full in the evening, was surprisingly quiet after 10:30 pm.
Clean shower and dish washing up facilities. There is a meadow at the bottom of the hill across a small wooden bridge where you can pitch your tent where you choose and no vehicles are around with a small stream flowing along one side of it.
Wasn't that busy in the afternoon but was busy in the evening (no more pitches available in the meadow after 8pm. But I saw lots of space up in the main area so I'm sure the owners would allow people to stay there). There's a pub on site as well. Really enjoyable site and if I visited Bath again would head there as well.

I’ve stayed at this site twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Conveniently located just outside of Bath, the bus service into town from the top of the hill was a great way of getting to and from the city without having to take a car and pay for parking. The last bus back was around 11pm. The site has an abundance of wildlife including ducks, birds and rabbits.
The tent pitches next to the stream are highly recommended. The toilet blocks were very clean with hot water and pitches very well maintained. The onsite pub was lovely – very friendly and cheap. Also recommended is the Thermae roof top spa in Bath – its fantastic! Would definitely stay here again.

Me and my partner stayed at this site for a long weekend at £22 a night. We were a bit apprehensive at first after reading reviews about the owners not being very friendly. However they were nothing but welcoming to us throughout our stay.

The site is an ideal base for visiting various attractions in Somerset. Bath is only 5 minute car journey, Bristol 30 mins, longleat 30 mins. I have to say the site is probably the best site I have stayed on for wildlife which was very surprising considering it's near a city. We saw kingfishers, woodpeckers, deer etc.

The facilities are very well maintained with heated toilet blocks with free showers & hairdryer. I also noticed you could have your own private bathroom for small charge (around £1.50).

All in all I had a very enjoyable weekend and I hope to return to the site soon!

Visited here for the May Bank Holiday where the site was nearly full. Stayed 3 nights @ £22.00 per night. First impressions on approaching up the longish drive were picturesque stream, and verges and grass areas all cut nicely. Tents and caravans were kept to separate areas each having their own facility blocks.

Our pitch was of a good size with plenty of room for a car and awning. The nearby toilet block was of a very good standard and seemed to remain clean all day, (no kids playing in and out).

We did not use the onsite pub/clubhouse, as the site is under new management and the chap is trying run the site, do the cooking, serve etc. and only a limited menu was available.

The Globe pub about a mile down the road gave good value/service and well organised recommended,average£7-8.00 per meal. Should you wish for something more substantial the Wheatsheaf in nearby Corston on the Wells road does good food at £10-11 per head.

Should you wish to Visit Bath, a short walk up the hill from the camp to Twerton the buses run about every 15 minutes costing £3.30 return per adult.

To sum up, a very clean/tidy and well presented site,in a smashing location, nice pubs nearby, with Wells ,Cheddar / Weston s Mare all in easy reach, what more can you ask. Recommended.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of autumn. Two adults and a basic tent (no frills).

The customer service of the site owners was not excellent, but it really does not matter.

There were only a handful of other campers there due to the time of year but it was perfect. Lovely pitch, excellent toilet and shower block (very clean) and beautiful surroundings all around.

The site has its own pub/restaurant with nice food and a cosy area to sit in the evening when it is chilly out.

We took the local bus into Bath and saw the historic attractions which are deserving of a lot of praise. The city of Bath is absolutely a must see for everyone.

Apart from the customer service this site is excellent and we are hoping to return here in the future.
