Chose this campsite because of its proximity to Padstow centre (about a 10 minute walk). The road to the site is very narrow. Single file only. Check in was easy and everything on site explained. Toilets and showers were plentiful and there was loads of hot water. Tokens for the showers were 40p and lasted ages. We cycle, so the site is ideal for the Camel Trail. We cycled as far as Bodmin (not a lot to see there), but we also went to Wadebridge a couple of times. Not too hilly which was good. We will definitely come back to this site. Although its not the cheapest we've been too, it is certainly to be recommended. We are already planning next years holiday to include this campsite. Give it a go. Padstow is beautiful

Wow, wow, wow! Just returned from a weeks stay at this Campsite with Hubby and our two teenagers, would definitely come again. The owner was very warm and friendly and does not stipulate lots of silly rules, a lot of it is common sense such as respecting your neighbours and surroundings, that respect was carried through even at night because it was quiet from about 10pm.

We stayed in the top field (tent field) right at the top where it was flattish. The rest of the field is on a slope and a bit of a hike to the toilets and washing up sinks - but hey the view at the top more than makes up for it overlooking the Estuary, even Hubby was impressed!

Located right next to pretty Padstow which you can walk to via the camel trail. We also used this site as a great base for getting to see Cornwall we visited St Ives, Newquay, Eden project and Falmouth.

A superb stay at this lovely site in a wonderful location.

We found that the site is basic Toilet block old but clean. Had to pay 40p for showers. Seemed ok for camping only would not recommend for caravans or lsrge motorhomes. Good site to get to Padstow just 10 minutes walk. The cost of £27. 00 per night we felt was a bit steep would recommend stopping at Padstow touring park

Fantastic location - a few minutes walk/cycle to the Camel trail and 10 minutes walk to Padstow. Lovely, well maintained site with friendly, helpful owners.

Toilet/shower/ washing up block was clean and tidy. 40p for a token for 5 minute shower - hot water from the start and ample time for myself. Token machine inside the shower cubicle - I have been to ones where machine is outside!Showers were nice and spacious too.

As mentioned in previous reviews some pitches were on a slope and we had one of these pitches. Not a major issue and having read reviews before going I was aware. One of the benefits of having these pitches is a better view over the river Camel which was lovely to sit and look out on, on the sunny evenings of our camping trip. There were flat pitches available so if this is important to you - motorhome or large tent it is worth mentioning on booking. I'm sticking with the slight slope and the beautiful view :-).

Whilst we were there we cycled to Wadebridge on the camel trail, approximately 5 miles. Getting the bikes onto the camel trail although a short distance it is a narrow path and some steps (about 10). Not a problem for myself and my 9 year old son but maybe a consideration for those with younger children and wider bikes/contraptions. There may well have been an alternative route. We also went into Padstow, which I love, for the fish and chips and watching the world go by. Tescos is a couple of minutes drive away for the essentials though Padstow have a good range of shops - Spar, post office (open to 10pm most nights and sells duct tape to fix split tent poles :-))and beach shops.

Although there is no playground my son was more than happy playing on the site. Plus there are fields all around and a small lake/pond for feeding ducks to keep the children amused.

We will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed at a weekend and it was relatively quiet.

The lane getting into the site is extremely tight which made me nervous but we made it in and out without meeting anyone else.

Toilets and showers were fine, nothing spectacular but pretty clean and usable.

The location is amazing. 10 minute walk into town along the camel trail. We hired bikes and cycled to Bodmin which was fantastic and great fun. Highly recommend this.

We didn't use the launderette but it looked fine. We couldn't get rid of our grey waste but used a bucket which was fine.

Quite expensive but if location is what you're after without having to use a car then this is the site for you.

We were warmly welcomed by the campsite manager - a good sign - along with minimal rules and regulations, and he wished us luck in pitching our large frame tent. We needed it, dashing from the car in short bursts between heavy showers, as the daylight faded, on a decidedly spongy pitch - more a baptism by flood than fire. 'Should pensioners be inflicting this on themselves?' we asked ourselves, more than once.

That was the lowest point of an otherwise very enjoyable week. (The only mud we saw on site that week, was the small patch we created - unavoidably - in our tent's walk-in entrance. )

We woke the next day to blinding sun. The campsite is delightfully located, with the Camel Estuary in view, and belts of woodland providing windbreaks and refuge for the prolific birdlife. The generously sized pitches - though on a gentle slope - presented no problems and the site was well-drained & maintained throughout. A nice touch was the metalled track, fringed by white gravel to assist drainage, which also allowed easy navigation to the loo at night without the need for a torch! The toilet and washing block are new, I believe, and even when the site filled up, there was no queuing for facilities.

Dennis Cove Campsite is well situated for many things. It's a kilometer's walk to Padstow. There's an excellent footpath and cycle trail to Wadebridge and Bodmin. There are watersports, nature and heritage walks. Were I judging the site solely on its management and well kept condition, I'd award it 10/10. However, someone with a limited walking range might find the short, sharp hill leading to the site entrance a bit of a challenge. Also, the nearest supermarket is quite a hike away, if you like to buy your provisions locally. The closest shop for camping accessories is in the centre of Padstow, but it is excellent. You'll be hard pressed to ask for something in the camping line that he doesn't stock! For 'foodies' there are opportunities in Padstow to suit all pockets, though beware - the harbour gulls will mug you - literally - for your Cornish Pasty.

Overall, then, I'd award the campsite 8/10 and would have no hesitation in recommending it. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
