Well, we were totally spoiled on our first expedition to Mull. We went straight to Killiechronan as it had been recommended by a friend and we did plan to move about and experience some true wild camping; however we were so blow away by this site that we just decided to stay. We got sea eagles every day, huge salmon and sea trout jumping in the loch and river mouth, being chased by the seals, two sitings of otters and the monarch up in the bracken above us. The flora was spectacular also.

I was concerned about the scrap car comments - as we have two young daughters however you only see them if you really look for them. And if you like landys then you will enjoy looking at the series 1 & 2s etc.

The facilities are basic but more than satisfactory - you can have a good hot wash(ladies just need your dry shampoo!) Absolutely no issues with water quality - and I happily allowed my girls to wander to the loo's alone after a little chat telling them what to do if a car was passing ( hardly any at all).

You pay on a daily basis, if you need any local knowledge they will more than happily offer it to you willingly.

We will be returning for sure. For those complaining about the 4 fee I check out other camp site prices on Mull. I certainly do not want to be paying all that additional cost for the sake of a shower.

Without a doubt the most picturesque place we have ever stayed at with our caravan. We have visited the Isle Of Mull many times over the years and Loch Na Keal has always been one of our very favourite places to see wildlife. Until this year we had always booked holiday cottages, this was our first trip up there with the caravan and it was heaven.

If you want amazing views, abundant wildlife, very friendly wardens and to be in some of the most beautiful surroundings you could ever find yourself in then this site is for you.

The facilities are very basic in terms of no electric hook ups, showers or chemical disposal points but there are toilets and washrooms you can use, plus a sink for washing up and a power point in the toilet block.

It was a very friendly and relaxed site with everyone we met during our stay there being mad about wildlife, just the same as us.

There is plenty to see and do on the beautiful Isle Of Mull but also you really didn't need to venture away from the site at all to see all that Mull has to offer. We will most definitely be returning here time and again!

What a wonderful location for a site. It is as close to wild camping as you can get with some facilities. Arrive on site pick your spot and set up. The owner will come round in the evening to collect the fee 4. 00 per person.

I think van terrier may have used the wrong water supply. The water supply which is a tap no hose is situated next to the toilets. The toilets are basic but clean with plenty of hot water. There is also a room in which there is a sink and a sturdy table. Sink provides washing up. Tenters were using the table to cook.

Make sure you enter by the sign posted route then you will find the correct tap. Yes the area is messy with dead cars but the camping area is very clean and tidy.

The site has fantastic views and the wildlife which can be seen from the camp is second to none. White tailed sea eagles fly right over the site. No play equipment for children and close to both sea and rivers. A site we will use again and again.

We do not understand why this was the first time we used this site

Agree with previous review that the location is fantastic and we had the additional benefit of great weather too.

Pitches on the Maccair can be uneven in places but there are a few set into the gorse and are more level with open views direct into the bay.

The 'facilities' are along the road a bit - say 100 yards or so and are located in an old garage workshop. When we were there the scrapman was loading scrap cars from around the place to take away, but I guess they will be replaced by more, so that part is not very picturesque.

The toilets themselves were basic. We managed to fill up water from a hose on the outside of the buildings which was probably no worse that from any other garage forecourt, but it was not for the squeamish. There was nowhere to dump blue toilet waste - could have put it down the toilet but didn't know where that went so decided not to. There's no signs. The grey waste went down the toilet as the waste pipe from the basins did too.

I would probably not use the site again but only because there is fantastic wild camping half a mile further down the road, so if you plan your tanks well you would be better off there as we did for the next couple of nights.

We paid 4.00 per night each - which I felt was a bit much given what little was being provided beyond a fantastic location.

Stayed here for two nights in a tent. Great site, very quiet. There's no office or reception as such - just pitch up and someone friendly will come round in the evening to collect cash.

The toilets are slightly further (maybe 200 yards) down the road towards Salen - look out for the sign.

Toilet and sinks provided - no showers, but at 4 per head per night no complaints! The site is next to the road but there was very little traffic. I can understand families maybe not wanting children to walk along the road to the toilets alone though.

This is a lovely quiet site with fabulous views out to the loch. Seems to be very popular with bird watchers and I can understand why! We saw a sea eagle flying overhead - also deer on the way to the toilets.

It took us 15-20 minutes to drive from this site to the Ulva Ferry to pick up a boat trip to Staffa & the Treshnish Islands - highly recommended.

Been to this site about 5 times now, I've used a tent, a trailer tent and a caravan. Real gem of a place, very basic washing (no showers) and washing up facilities, male and female toilets, that's about it. You camp on the beach, beautiful area with wonderful wildlife, no pollution be it noise light or sound, friendly people. The best recommendation is that many people like me go back year after year. Take all your food with you and fill up with petrol on the mainland before jumping on the ferry, take plenty of waterproofs and warm clothes and be wary of the midges. Last year it was 3 per person per night. Theres a Spar in Salen about 3 miles away.
