My first & last visit to this site!
We booked the site for a family get together. My eldest son & his wife in their caravan, my youngest son, his wife & our granddaughter in the site static caravan.
I booked by telephone & was offered a hardstanding which I accepted.
We arrived to find the field gate locked & were then told to go to the main farm entrance, were shown onto the 'hardstanding' which turned out to be not hard but was inside the horse exercise area complete with horses & horse muck.
I moved to the field area.
The fresh water hose was laid in the mud & was used for watering the animals.
The showers were dirty, my son went down & cleaned one before use!
No grey water disposal point.
Horses led past the van @ 7am.
The final straw: A digger arrived to dig & lay a new road next to our van, no warning or apology!
Yes the site is in a nice area but @ £17-00 a night out of season I would expect better, much better.

After negotiating the double parked cars we arrived to find the owners away and no one expecting us!
We were shown through, in the end to a rough field, and told pick your site!
Horses coming and going morning and evening some with wandering dogs.
Then the 'Friends' arrived in the adjacent field in an old bus. A camp fire was started.
The facilities were very basic, a weight lifting course required to empty waste or toilet, which was situated in the stable yard, next to the drinking water. The pipe of which was trailing on the ground.
There were piles of builders rubbish at the entrance to the site.
Then to be asked for £20 per night was the last straw! We only paid £21. 50 per night for the previous 4 nights on a fully serviced professional site with magnificent views and facilities.
First and last time here for us!

The closest site to town and Portland in an amazing location next to the Fleet Lagoon, right on the Jurassic Coast. Very friendly, relaxed site with great facilities and very reasonable rates. A dream campsite in a delightful part of the country. Hookups are available, plenty of washing facilities, showers and toilets. Close to everything but you'll still feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.

Martleaves is a superb site for quiet camping in a stunning location. I found it by chance when wanting a convenient overnight stop in Weymouth for the folk festival.
The facilities are minimal but perfectly adequate and very clean and the camping field is huge for the number of tents with a wonderful view across the Fleet to Portland. I didn't have time to take the footpath down to the Fleet as sitting by my tent with a cup of tea, enjoying the view took so long!
The site has no shop or bar but with the bus stop into Weymouth just 5 minutes walk and the last bus back from town well after 11pm there is no need for night life on site. There is a minimarket near the bus stop.
I didn't have Children with me but watched others playing happily in the field. I didn't see an official play area but it wouldn't be needed with such a big space for ball games and general charging about
I will be using Martleaves again, without a doubt, and will be recommending it to my friends.
A great find!

This is a very basic, no frills site, with a fantastic view over Chesil beach, and portland to one side. The toilet / shower facilities were very satisfactory, with water and chemical waste disposal within easy access (although the gravel drive is difficult to pull waste water / toilet cartidge along).
However, access to the site is not easy. Should anyone be tempted to follow the sign to Swallows Rest from the A435 (portland road) down Parkmead Road, don't! This is a road with double parked vehicles, and you will get stuck. Continue to the lights, and take Langton Avenue. South Road and Rymead lane can also get a bit tight, but we did get through OK. At the end of Rymead Lane you will go through two gates to get to the caravan part.
To be fair on this bit, we went when there were 70mph winds and heavy rain, but access through the gates was very muddy indeed. There is no protection for wind coming in from the sea (so think twice before putting up your awning), but then the lack of screening does provide for the stunning views, so you can't have everything. There are also some very nice walks from the site.
For a treat, we can seriously recommend the CrabHouse Cafe - very good food at a sensible price. In Weymouth town, there are several chippies where one can get a very nice Mackerel and Chips.
Overall, a site that has great potential, but access can be interesting

This was a lovely placed site - bit tricky to navigate the very wet entrance - but entrance available via the B & B (didn't know about that prior to arrival) Helen was very friendly and informative. George the pot belly pig was lovely.
It was a small site with lovely views over Chissel Beach and Portland.
The loos were new but not finished - I think they should have been finished before we could use them. The showers were not working for 2 of the nights while were there (were allowed to use the B & B inside main house though) - apparently the 'horsey people' turned off the mains water out of revenge!
There were un-supervised kids in the block one evening and made a muddy mess and left the taps running and door open. A mirror and plastic chair in the showers would have been beneficial. As would some kind of cleaning products after you use the showers and loos.
Lovely walk into Weymouth but wished we had taken the bikes as the walk-way was the old railway line - typical!
The walk through the side of the fields to the pathway adjacent to the Lagoon was 'DOG POOH' laden - not nice at all. So didn't use again after the first time. Used main road.
On good bus route which ran every 20 mins or so to Weymouth and Portland.
Would use the site again when it is fully functional.
Lovely site if you have tickets for the Olympics taking part around there.
