We went to this site as a last minute thing, and was really impressed with the facilities, toilets clean and tidy, pitches all good, and clubhouse was a really friendly atmosphere, the new indoor/outdoor pool was excellent considering the weather, and the owner is realy helpful.

I think if you consider the weather the site drains well and the site is close to a good local pub and takeaway. If you do not want to drive the bus route is right outside, there is a local market on mondays in the next field. If you are a walker there is some lovely walks plus the seafront is a short walk.

We stayed in one of the static caravans on the site, the statics are situated on an adjoining site to the main area, a great idea as it is very quiet but within easy reach of main area.

Caravan excellent with modern facilities built in fridge and freezer, flat screen tv, central heating, double-glazed.

This is a family run site and they are extremely pleasant and helpful.

Two swimming pools one indoor/outdoor retracting roof and walls and the other indoor within the health club (adults only) with sauna, steamroom and gym. Simon who looks after the health club was more than helpful and a great lad.

We didn't access the toilet or shower blocks so cannot comment but the site as a whole was extremely clean and well looked after. Children's enclosed play area looked very popular. Bar, Entertainment and take-away convenient for everyone.

Five minute drive to Charmouth Beach which is great for fossil hunting, walking or just people watching. Approx 15min easy walk.

All in all great place to stay, with something for mums, dads, kids and dogs as well as us of a certain age! Would definitely recommend and would definitely return.

Reception not clearly signed, pitches not marked up. the shop had very little stock, empty shelves.

Kids play area was fine. no fire points. toilet blocks passable. wash rooms poor and cold.

Location is great 2 pubs close 5 mins walk, beach reached in about 15 mins.

Swimming pool is ok, could do more changing rooms and better lighting in them.

The bin area was overflowing

very hard to find any staff, reception/shop closed for long periods during the day. If run properly this site would be great.

We were a bit concerned when we arrived to find that all of the best spots were reserved for tents and vans with hook up. Most of the tent camping areas are closer to the main road which is quite noisy. However we managed to find ourselves a spot as far away from the road as possible and I can honestly say the road noise didn't bother us at all.

The facilities were good. The playground could have done with a lick of paint but had a good range of equipment and was very popular. We didn't really use the clubhouse, takeaway or the pool as the weather was so nice we were out and about most of the time but they looked good.

The toilets/showers/washing up facilities were also good although some of the showers worked better than others (OK once you know which ones!) and there is plenty of space to put your things whilst showering and even plug sockets in the shower rooms for hairdryers etc - luxury! The shop was stocked with basics and you can rent and exchange freezeblocks from there. The staff were very friendly.

The location is terrific. Set on the edge of a beautiful village with lots of lovely shops and a fantastic pub called the George with a great kids playground and even goats to feed - proper beer on tap too. The food was good and we spent a lot of time there! One thing to note is the only cash point in town is in the pub and if it is out of order you will need cash!

It's an easy walk to the beach for fossil hunting, collecting seaweed, building sandcastles or a nice swim. It is situated on an estuary so there were lots of people floating in inflatables on the river too.

We had one rainy day during our stay and headed to Dorchester to the Dinosaur museum and found a whole collection of interesting little museums to go to which passed a lovely day. Quite crowded though as everyone had the same idea. The shop has lots of leaflets to help plan day trips.

All in all a very pleasant and relaxing stay - I would recommend it.

Possibly the worst site we have ever stayed at. Where to start??

1. Pitched on the side of a hill so far away from club house and kids play park. Needed to drive to get there so useless really.

2. Pitches scruffy and unkempt.

3. 3 showers for 2 fields! These were freezing cold and filthy.

4. Only bins are by the club house. These were overflowing. Hence, rubbish everywhere.

5. Play park full of litter and very scruffy. Told staff it was full of cider cans. He rolled his eyes. It was never cleaned up.

6. Shop very poorly stocked. Bare minimum. Also needed first aid for a bee sting. When asked in reception, they had no first aid at all. Amazing!

7. Swimming pool may be nicer in the future. However, again, showers dirty and cold. No changing rooms. Staff unfriendly and certainly don't want anyone having any fun!

8. Lack of areas to get rid of waste from toilet. Only one on site! we had to drive to it! Plus it had no tap for flushing. Disgusting.

In conclusion this site was very disappointing and in desperate need of updating and general maintenance.

This campsite is large and has lots of facilities, shop, clubhouse, takeaway, outdoor swimming pool, play area and numerous toilet and shower blocks. The pitches around the main facilities are taken up by sited units. The camping/touring fields are steep and sloping, EHU pitches are next to/under the A35.

The site is ideal for the beach, fossil hunting and the village centre where there are some good shops and pubs. The village chip shop was incredibly busy with very long queues - worth the wait but we found out after you can pre-order by telephone!

Major building work for holiday accommodation and around the pool area was taking place and there were signs that some of the toilet and shower blocks had been updated. Some toilet blocks were clean some not.

The play area had lots of equipment but was dated and not well maintained.

We would camp at Charmouth again but will not use this campsite. We found the site to be expensive, noisy and overcrowded.
