This was our first visit to Warcombe Farm and we will be returning. Our daughter stayed there last year and loved it - we camped for nearly two weeks and cannot fault it.
Toilet facilities were excellent - we were there over the peak August period, but there always seemed to be enough cubicles and showers, and they were always clean and tidy. Heated floors were brilliant, and the shower cubicles were spacious with handy shelving and stools.
There are a number of different types of pitches - some secluded and some not - so something for everyone. WiFi was available - we paid £36 for 4 devices for 2 weeks.
I would give this site 10/10 for value for money - it may not be the cheapest, but it was worth every penny
This is our 3rd year camping at Warcombe Farm and no doubt we will be returning next year as well!
There are a variety of pitches to choose from, but we always choose the Premier pitch as they are completely level, very spacious and come with a sturdy picnic bench, water tap & electric hook up.
The site is extremely well run & the staff constantly monitor the site for any issues, without being at all intrusive. The facilities are amazing. Always sparkly clean and so many toilets and showers, you never have to wait even in peak season. There are also plenty of dishwashing facilities, a laundry room and a well stocked shop.
We love camping at this site as the children thoroughly enjoy fishing on the lake (£3. 50 per rod, per half day). It is also a dog friendly site and there is a fantastic dedicated area for walking your dog off the lead.
It is ideally located for exploring North Devon. We can thoroughly recommend the walk to Heddon's Mouth or a visit to the Valley of the Rocks.
Wifi is available at a charge (£24 for 4 devices for a week). There is a good child's play area, although to be honest there are so many other things to do, our children have not used it!
There are different food vans that visit every night if you don't feel like cooking; from wood fired pizza ovens, seafood vans & even Thai food.
I can't fault this camp site in any way. It is not the cheapest of sites, but it is top quality.
We stayed here for the May Spring Bank holiday week. Upon arriving we were greeted by the friendly reception staff and shown to our premier pitch by a friendly chap on a golf buggy. The pitch was huge and we were in the bottom secluded section which proved to be a mistake (made by me) as we would have benefitted from being closer to the playground as we had our 3 kids with us (10, 7+4) plus our little dog, I didn't quite realise how big the site was! As it was a premier pitch we had our own water supply, picnic bench and bbq stand plus 2 hookup plugs. There was plenty of room for our Vermont XLP and to park our van by the side of the tent. The toilets / showers are like walking into a posh hotel loo, truly amazing for a campsite and their are plenty too, never having to queue even though the site was pretty full. They were also spotless and deep cleaned daily. The site had a little shop selling all essentials but the Tesco was only a short journey away in Illfracombe. The playground is nice for the kids and they enjoyed the mini zip wire. We fished the lake once and had a cracking afternoons fishing in the drizzle catching fish after fish on the trusty sweetcorn. This is definitely, by far the best campsite I have visited and we will definitely return! If only the weather could be kind!
We have just come back from 2 weeks at Warcombe Farm and before we left we booked again for next year, which in itself must tell you something. We were pitched this year next to the fishing lake, which we will avoid next year as it is a magnet for fishermen of all ages and we prefer the quiet that low season provides. We cannot comment on the play area provided for children other than to say it looked well thought out and was all of sturdy wooden construction and I know ours would have enjoyed it when they were small. For next year we have selected a more secluded pitch surrounded by trees, this is also the beauty of the site in that it caters for all tastes and requirements as there are larger more open spaces for more than one unit, although each pitch is clearly defined, to smaller individual pitches catering for one, two or more. The choice is yours.
We could not fault any of the other facilities, the toilet and shower blocks were very clean and warm, the shower cubicles had shelving units that gave you ample space to place towels, clothes, wash bag etc. A bin and a stool were also provided and I cannot rate these highly enough, there was also, a family bathroom which included a bath with shower over with free hot water. In the smaller block there are wet rooms all of a good size together with toilets that have hand basins within the cubicle. The washing up facilities were good, though I could imagine that in the height of summer it would be busy as they have 4 sinks and draining boards. Washing machines and tumble driers are also provided and the cost is average at £4 per load with tumble driers £1 for 20 mins. There was also a couple of Belfast sinks for any hand washing requirement.
On arrival, we were given a site map, though not shown to our pitch, but then we didn't get there til almost 5 and reception closed at 5. We were also given clear written instructions to the nearest Tesco.
All in all for service, friendliness, cleanliness and overall site we can fault Warcombe Farm and can see that we will be camping here for many years to come.
This is the second time we have stayed at the site
This is by far the best site with the best facilities we have stayed at.
Staff are friendly and helpful, there is a shop with the necessities that you need. There are two shower blocks, one has family showers that have good shower, well lit room, consists of basin and toilet and most importantly a place to put your things hooks and a bench to sit on.
The other blocks have individual showers basins and loos, all have places to put your belongings.
We arrived on the Friday afternoon and was taken to our pitch by one of the staff, the pitches are individual cove type pitches that give you a little privacy from the other pitches.
The only down side of our trip was the next tent to us, they were very noisy and played music into the night, they were laughing loudly singing etc, they made no attempt to even keep quiet something we always do.
The next morning I had to complain to the staff as I did not want other tent owners thinking the noise was us, the site owners told us that we should have phoned the number that was given to us on the welcome pack so that the nuisance could have been sorted immediately. They told us they would not tolerate any noisy neighbours and would speak with them immediately something that they did do.
The next door tent owners did in fact apologise to us that same morning so all was well.
Great site definitely worth a visit.
