Really impressed with this site, just had a week there and can highly recommend.

We were given a huge pitch. I had room for our largish trailer tent and car and could probably of fitted a second car. Our spot was in the South East corner, very quiet and private. Only slight issues were that we asked for a flat pitch and it did have a slope, despite there being many much flatter pitches on the North side of the site. Also, we were right next to the Caravan storage section which meant we didn't have great views but too be honest it was worth it for the privacy and size of pitch.

Very good facilities. 3 nice parks for the kids, a little crazy golf game which was a little tired, but was free and the kids enjoyed. Outdoor swimming pools were good. 2 small pools and a little paddling pool for toddlers. Only one of pools was heated, but very nice. The week we went the weather was a little mixed so we found in the morning the pool was pretty quiet. Got busier in the afternoons and could imagine if the weather was very good it would probably get over crowded. Nice little shop, very well stocked for the size, some things great value for money (nice bottle of white wine for a fiver!) but fresh baked goods were pricey although a very welcome addition.

One of the best things was the courtyard restaurant. Not much seating but excellent food and good value for money (you could also take away). We ate their 3 times in a week and were impressed, I would say better quality than many pubs I have ate at. No licence, but this was good thing in my opinion. Also good family focussed entertainment, we saw a kids party style DJ one night who did party games and also a clown. Entertainment on 4 nights a week and overall just a very nice tone, really family friendly.

Toilet facilities were good. 3 blocks all nicely finished, almost high end for a campsite. The site was rammed full pretty much the whole week we were there, and probably the cleanliness of the toilets reflected this due to the high usage. No problem though and cleaners regularly in attendance. Our toilet block was in the more tent orientated field and occasionally the female showers were busy, but a quick walk down to the blocks in the more caravan orientated fields would find some availability (so my wife told me).

Was really impressed with the location. About a 10 minute walk through the golf course to the beach at Carlyon Bay. Really nice beach, with some rock pools. There was apparently old hotel right on the beach which has been in the process of being demolished over last few years. I think this has put people off the beach at it was relatively quiet for such a lovely huge beach. The building work is finished now (although a believe there is planning application for some apartments) but it has left room for a selection of pop up restaurants and bars. Was great to have a freshly poured pint on the beach and then finish the day with some delicious local seafood.

Charlestown is a nice little village which is a pleasant 1. 5 mile walk form the site.

For driving St Austell is only about 2 miles away. We didn't go into town but we did visit the Tesco which is convenient. You are spoilt for choice for locations to visit in a less than 10 miles radius round the bay with Mevergissey being a particular highlight.

One telling point was when we generally chatted to people on site we were the only one's who were on our first visit. We met plenty of people who had been visiting year after year for over 20 years!

Overall I really liked this site. The only real downside was the price. I paid £49 a night for my TT with EHU and 3 kids. To be fair it was the relatively high price for the children that pushed this up, but if the overall price had been £10 less a night I would have given the site 10 out of 10 across the board. You get what you pay for in this game though I think, and I wouldn't let the price put me off going back, although I think there are possibly a few better value for money sites in the vicinity which I will try if /when I return to this beautiful area of Cornwall.

What a great site!

Beautifully kept site in close proximity to local amenities as well as a short walk to the most incredible beach! Totally loved this place and would happily go back.

Great sized pitches. Wonderful, well stocked shop. Very friendly and easy going staff. Snack bar. Great shower block. Kids entertainment. Outdoor pools. Free mini-golf. TV room. Wi-fi (!) What more could you ask for?

No bar on site but the shop had loads of booze in stock and the TV room/entertainment area/snack bar had loads of chairs available. They said that the local hotel is only 10 minutes walk away but I'm not sure that they'd have welcomed us in our camping gear. :)

Amazingly handy for The Eden Project.

Couldn't recommend highly enough.

This campsite has good sized pitches with, lots of play equipment, free crazy golf, 3 swimming pool ( small), on site shop, takeaway and evening entertainment 3 nights a week, oh and the owners are super friendly - what more could you want! highly recommended. Toilet block were small for numbers of units, but you rarely had to queue an they were always clean. There is a Tesco and asda within 10 minute drive, A large covered kids playcentre opposite, 5 minute walk to the beach - which is fine gravel rather than sand, and has a strong undertow at hi tide, so may not always be suitable for kids as it knocked me over.

1st time tenting - requested a flat level pitch. And it was perfect. Huge pitch with electric. Site split into several areas, some suitable for families, some quiet and secluded - so something for everyone. Such a peaceful site - no noise at all after about 10pm. Very well kept grounds. Immaculate toilet facilities within easy reach of all pitches. Fabulous outdoor pool area - toddler pool and 2 swimming pools - one heated set in a patio area surrounded by white painted walls, open from 10am to 8pm. On one occasion we had pool to ourselves, felt like we were at a private villa in South of France. On site shop - small but sold everything - even fresh croissants! One negative was that on arrival we went to buy bread which had the following day's date on it. We asked the owner if he had any more fresh coming in. The reply was 'no'. Returned to shop in afternoon for other provisions and the shelves were then stacked with 4 day fresh bread! - felt a little exploited. Reception staff so helpful and friendly - nothing is too much trouble. Lovely courtyard area to sit with a cool drink in the evening and make friends. Small snack bar open from 5. 30 - 8pm. Frozen food but kids enjoyed it. Table tennis, Pool (£1 charge) table football (50p charge) and FREE crazy gold - clubs and balls left outside reception. Brilliant main play park and smaller play areas on each field. Site protected from high winds by huge trees. We had friends who lived locally visit for the day - they were so impressed they asked for brochure to book a quick break away for themselves! 15 mins walk to nearest beach (Carlyon) which had pop up bars and frisby golf for £1. 00. Kids loved it. Clear waters but quite shelving edge to sea so take care with little ones. Cornish market within walking distance but didn't impress me. Kids (ages 12) loved Kidzworld - especially roller skating and high wire - very good value for money. Visited Charlestown, St Austell, Mevagissey & Falmouth but loads more areas easy to reach. Tesco & Asda 5 mins drive away for provisions. Would highly recommend the Holmfirth Inn for family meal - we all licked our plates clean! Would visit again due to peaceful nature and proximity to other areas of Cornwall.

Loved this site. We were welcomed by a very friendly lady - who gave us plenty of information about local area. Our pitch (we paid for a larger, premium pitch) was very spacious, with lovely mowed grass.

What we loved the most about this site, was its location… Excellent walk to the beach, and easy walk to Charlestown (25 minutes)

I cycled to Eden Project, (about 2 miles mostly on a cycle path)

We also took the local bus to Mevagissey. This was easy. A delightful Cornish fishing village !

Even though we were staying at a busy time… It didn't feel busy, or crowded. We found the little shop very useful. My husband and son loved the crazy golf… Which is free !

We would definitely return to this site.

We have visited this site nearly every year since 2004. Despite trying other sites we always return here with our 3 children -who also love this site. It is perfection and even though we have been on 5* holiday abroad nothing can beat this site. Excellent in every way and already booked on for 2016.
