Wow, what a lovely welcome by Karl and Julie, and from then on our week on the site only got better. Excellent hosts, well laid out and thought about site, toilet and showers excellent. We love this end of Anglesey and ideal position for walks along the coastline. We will certainly use this site again, in fact I shouldn't be writing a review as good as this as you will all want to go and I won't be able to book.

We unfortunately had a puncture on our last day, Karl and a site guest helped me change the wheel and Karl rang a local garage to make sure they were open Saturday afternoon. Karl and Julie could not have done any more to make our stay and all the guest that week a time to remember. Everyone on site that week were very helpful and mingled socially with ease finishing our last night on site with a site get together involving pizza and a 'small' amount of alcoholic refreshment.

Thanks from Karen & Dave Green (Wirral)

What a fantastic campsite, cannot praise it enough. Julie and Carl the owners are very thoughtful hosts. The welcome pack on arrival is a great idea. We have already booked our next stay for August bank holiday.

Lovely site with really helpful and friendly owners. Loos and showers immaculate and a handy little kitchen area for washing up etc. The camping field is flat and we liked having our own water tap. All pitches have electric.

I only stayed one night due to Ring o' Fire participation but it was a perfect base for hubby for the weekend. We will definitely be back next year for a longer stay :)

We have just returned from an 8 night stay at Mount View and feel compelled to write a review as soon as physically possible!

'We' is myself, my wife and three daughters, (aged 10, 6 and 3 months!) Due to the young age of our latest addition we chose our campsite carefully and were drawn to Mount View due to the numerous comments about the new (11 months) owners, Carl and Julie.

We were not disappointed.

I challenge anyone to find site hosts more kind, caring, diligent and attentive than Carl and Julie. We left after 8 days feeling like part of the family! They literally could not do enough to help us and ensure our stay was enjoyable. I cannot list all the things they did, and indeed it wouldn't be fair that these things became 'expected' as a result of my review but, to name a few: they gave us a lovely welcome pack of essentials, helped with tent maintenance, were available at all times in case of baby emergency (or any other emergency for that matter!), advised on days out, serviced the children's bikes, (lent one of them another bike which Carl had to repair and service first!) assisted with vacuum packing, were so welcoming to the children that we would regularly find them chatting at one end of the garden or other - never once complaining about having other things to do no matter what the girls wanted to talk to them about. The list could go on and on!

The site itself is set in a lovely, peaceful, rural part of the island. The last house when leaving Port Amlwch, the small garden (for that is essentially what it is) is surrounded by farm and moorland. Our children loved having the cows and horses over the fence, as well as looking for bats and hedgehogs in the evening, and hoping to catch site of the local fox and badger too! The setting could not be more peaceful. Being so small it is a totally safe environment for young children; ours ran and cycled around happily all week whilst we did boring things like tent chores and changed nappies/fed the baby!

Whilst it would be fair to say Port Amlwch is not the most beautiful place on the island, we grew to love it for its industrial, historical ruggedness. We didn't expect it to be a great base to explore the island, but we easily reached all four corners of the island using Mount View as a base. The beaches along the Northern coast are lovely and easily accessible, as a runner I loved getting straight out onto the coastal path in either direction or running up nearby Parys Mountain - a disused Copper Mine from which port Amlwch's industrial history is drawn. We loved Camaes Bay nearby (ignore the Nuclear Power Station - pretend its not there!) We went to Trearddur Bay twice and even had a lovely day at Newborough nature reserve - geographically the furthest point from Mount View on the island but still easily accessible. This being our first ever visit to Anglesey, we left feeling we had seen a snapshot of everything the island had to offer and were left with enough to want to return.

For the sake of balance I will mention the 'negatives', but be aware that I am clutching at the smallest of straws here! As mentioned in another review, the toilet/showers are beautiful (how many sites do you go to where the bathrooms are better than your own at home?!) but there is only one of each. This wasn't a problem actually even when the site was full, but it's not ideal and I know Carl and Julie are looking into solutions for this. We suffered from a fair amount of poor weather during our stay but the field held up pretty well; on one day a decent sized puddle formed on one pitch (not ours) which caused a problem or two - it has to be said though, that the weather was so dreadful on that day I think most sites on Anglesey will have suffered the same and worse! Finally I have already mentioned Port Amlwch itself; it's a great base for exploring the rest of the island but it is not going to blow you away in itself - I liked everywhere else better!

But, as I said, I am picking holes here. As a family we absolutely loved our stay at Mount View and, should we ever decide to visit Anglesey again, I think there is absolutely no doubt that we would stop at Mount View again. On customer service, peace and tranquillity and that little personal touch that means so much when you have a young family, there can be no higher recommendation than Mount View! (Just please don't book there in the school holidays as we want to go back and don't want it to be booked up!)

A massive thank you Carl and Julie - and good luck with all your plans for the site in future; we will be back to see how it goes!

We enjoyed our stay at mountview. We stayed two nights, and both Karl and Julie were very helpful. The facilities were fine, but I'm not sure if the site was full we would not have been in a queue for the loo or shower. Its in a great position, very clean and tidy with lovely background scenery.

Our walk on the Anglesey coastal path took us right past Mount View and it looked so pleasant we treated ourselves to a couple of nights there at the end of our backpacking challenge. It was perfect - pretty and very comfortable but the best thing by far was the lovely owners who provided a warm and friendly welcome. Karl picked us up at the bus stop - he was out shopping on behalf of another campsite resident! Karl and Julie were caring and very generous with their time, allowing us to wash and dry our backpacking clothes and lending us heavy duty tent pegs when the weather looked a bit threatening. During the evening we had a lovely log fire set up by Karl, who enjoys walking around to make sure everybody has what they need. I have been camping each year for nearly 30 years and this was one of the most enjoyable camping experiences I've ever had, in the most beautiful of locations. We have fallen in love with Anglesey and have found the perfect place from which to explore it. Thank you Karl and Julie, we are glad you made the move to Amlwch and wish you many happy times ahead.
