Visited for first time over bank holiday weekend, which was sunny for a change. Three 'vans, 6 adults, 2 older children. Great site, not our normal type of thing ie pool, clubhouse etc. But it was lovely.

Huge hard standing serviced pitches, with some grass pitches, tents with elec, or without, and some statics. Nice dog walk in woods. Spotlessly clean, well laid out, you didn't notice it was such a big place. Staff very helpful, and not officious.

There was free entertainment if you wanted it in the bar, but it wasn't blaring out. Bar needs proper beer though, and maybe some food? We ate out one night at the local, the Black Lion, which was fab. A bit gastro pub, but full of locals, and not expensive.

Our friends bought a newer 'van from Thriftwood and swapped all their stuff from one to the other. The other friends could not tow off the site when they left as their tow-hitch broke, but the staff were excellent, and tried to help them. In the end they left their 'van for one night (no charge) until it could be fixed.

Thank you. Will def return.

This site has the wow factor from the moment you enter the site

Good points

Lovely clean hot showers

Clean toilets

Stocked shop

Bar with entertainment (entertainment free)

Heated outside pool

Amusements suited for kids of all ages

Play park

Hard and grass pitches

Woodland walk

Bad points, well I only stayed 4 nights but I couldn't find any !

A true family friendly site

Cant wait to return, if only to meet the 4 resident ducks again which waddle around your pitch

We booked this site as our first camping trip, so we don't have any other sites to compare it with.

On the whole it is a lovely site, with good customer service, superb facilities and very scenic and pleasant place to be.

I read some of the other reviews and they weren't joking about it being hard ground. A definite must to take hard ground pegs and a good quality mallet. I think it is mostly flint, so we completely destroyed our cheap Asda mallet and headed down to the camp shop in Maidstone the next day to buy a better one.

If I had to pick at problems with the site, the only thing I would suggest is that there is only one toilet and shower block which was about 5 minute walk away from our tent. We requested to be by the child's play ground, they put us up there no problem. Luckily we had a Potty and a Chemical Waste very close by. However there were plenty of toilets and showers so never had to wait and always had hot showers.

Just to mention, the new Shower blocks are incredible. Very hot showers, fresh and new facilities. Could maybe do with a temperature control as were a little hot for the kids.

The play area was great, totally fenced in with one gate access. Being so close to the play area we could relax and watch them from out tent, however if you're further away there are benches in there that you can sit at and talk to other parents whilst your children play.

There were speed bumps all around the park which is good to keep traffic speed down (not that I saw anyone go over 5mph), but they were not clearly marked, so we all tripped over them at some point. Both our children have grazed legs from going flying over them, in fact I think all the children we saw were victim to them at some point.

Being local, we took two cars up there, there was no quibble and ample parking (although subject to an extra charge, but this is quite normal looking at other sites).

There was a bit of a disappointment on the last day when one of our children was being bombarded with tree bark by three very well dressed boys within the playing area. When my wife when up to ask them to stop it, they were extremely rude to her. Being a teacher she has heard language like it before, but not from such small children. We also heard from a neighbour who had a child in tears as the same boys had told him he was not allowed to play on the playground. This being said, they were only at the playground for about 15 minutes then were gone again, so didn't affect any of us too much.

Overall for the whole weekend, we were completely happy with the site, everyone was lovely and friendly. In fact by the end of the weekend, we felt we knew everybody's name and who their children were and felt part of a big happy family. The facilities were excellent and definitely worth a visit.

Oh and if you're visiting in early May, take plenty of warm clothes and blankets for the evening. The site is positioned at the top of the North Downs, so can get very hot during the day and very cold at night. The first night went from almost 20deg to freezing over night.

The site itself is surrounded by woodland with mature trees dotted within the site, which offers a nice bit of shade and makes it very picturesque. There are also dog walks and fields nearby to take your dogs.

We didn't use the pool, but it was open in early May and apparently heated too. So maybe take a dip next time.

Will we visit again? YES

My husband and I have just stayed at Thriftwood Holiday Park for one night during a very cold weekend in February! When we arrived, the park was covered in snow and it was freezing, but we received a very warm welcome from the owner of the park who gave me directions to the local Supermarket and information on local restaurants etc.

Thriftwood is a lovely, small family run park with great facilities. During our stay we used the bar, which was warm and comfortable and very friendly!

The shower/toilet block is the best I've ever been in on a camp site. Spotlessly clean and warm with lots of lovely hot water and very modern, stylish amenities. The games room is very well equipped and the pool area (although closed for winter) looked very tidy and would be very appealing in better weather! The laundry room is well equipped, although we didn't use the washers or dryers during our stay.

There are lots of areas around the park for woodland walks, we will definitely be back for another stay - hopefully very soon and in better weather!

This is my first review of any holiday park but I thought I'd have to get round to having something to say about this one, I had a two week stay over Christmas and new year, the weather was a bit cold but I can't blame anyone for that. The park is in a lovely peaceful area which is back onto a large woodland suitable for long walks.

Everything is spick and span, no litter and the park homes all look smart and tidy, there is a shop at the front to get supplies, clean showers and toilets, a park with climbing frame and swings for the kids and a heated swimming pool (although it was closed in the winter).

The bar was family friendly, served a selection of meals and had wonderful entertainment, during my stay there was a singer, karaoke, bingo, quiz nights plus children's games and treasure hunts. I had the most amazing new years eve I can ever remember. What made my stay most enjoyable was the fact that it was a family run park, the whole family were so kind and were a pleasure to talk to, they all really cared about the park and would always do anything possible to help.

Since my first visit I have now booked another stay over Easter, both me and my daughter are really looking forward to our holiday.

Visited lots of site in Kent but this one has to be by far the best we have been to. The nice club house on site. Very good all round facilities. Kids love the games room. Already booked for another 2 visits. Swimming pool looks very nice although it was closed during our visit.

The new shower block is as good as most luxury hotels that we have visited. The child's play area is also very handy for smaller children

Site owner is very accommodating and helpful
