Just back from wild rose again and had a great 4 days away. The site is still one of the best I know however the toilet block near the tent field is starting to look a little tired. The best addition by far is the cock o hoop bar and restaurant which is the icing on the cake for this site. Normal pub prices and a great local pub feel to it. Such a great stay we booked while we were there for Easter back on the super deluxe pitch. Very private and well equipped

Please dont let all the other reviews put you off this place. We stayed here just last week, Sat-Sat. Ok, so the children's park is a little dated and the 'heated pool' is cold, but everything is very well kept and cleaned by the actual campsite. We took our dog onto the designated doggy walking area, where there are free bags for you to use to pick up your dogs poos, a shower and water bowls for your dog, you couldn't ask for more from a site, BUT people are still letting their dog/s poop all over the area and not picking up after them, so its not the place, its the types of people
The showers/toilets/sink areas are again cleaned regularly, the grounds on site are always cleaned/litter picked up etc, grass areas kept short n tidy! The shop on site is handy. Theres a fab launderette area. Again, clean and tidy and handy. They are very helpful at the reception. The food is fantastic at the bar/restaurant and very friendly staff! Theres a games room, but just full of kids left by parents. And litter all over it from the kids, some machines weren't working (probably from kids jumping on them or being rough with them)
All in all, we would go back again and met some lovely people who go there regularly! Nice place.

Just returned from our 4th visit to this site. Quite a bit of money has been spent on the bar and restaurant area all much improved. The restaurant serves excellent food at realistic prices, drinks also at normal pub rates. The on site shop still continues to be excellent.
The swimming pool was able to be used in between bouts of rain, I was going to use it myself until I saw teenagers spitting in it apparently to the delight of their parents.
Pitches spacious, well drained and well served. The showers were hot and relatively clean although a bit dated. Perhaps some money could be invested in these as a next phase of improvement. All in all I feel the site represents good value and will definitely be returning but probably out of season to avoid school holidays.

We were disappointed with our 5 night stay at Wild Rose Park, Ormside. I felt they were too overpriced considering where they are located – 5 miles to Appleby and 25 miles to Kendal. You need to drive to Kendal to get everything decent shopping wise.
We were charged £137. 50 for a five night touring pitch, awning, electric, two adults and one dog.
We specifically asked to be away from the children's play area and kids in general. We were given a pitch at Hazel Heights which is apparently a superior fully serviced pitch. When we tried to connect our digital TV to the TV aerial point on the pitch. Our TV came up 'No Signal' due to too poor a signal to get digital coverage. So luckily we had to revert to our own high gain aerial with no problem at all.
We had annoying kids on the pitch to the right of us and another family of kids screaming their heads off at varying times. To make matters worse, the caravan opposite left their dog in the caravan while they went to the pub. The result was, the dog was whining and barking until 1am.
In general there were too many children for our liking. It's a good site for families. However, if you're a couple with no kids like us, I would steer clear of Wild Rose Park.

Read the reviews but always want to see for myself. Here goes.
Wild Rose is a lovely park but not for us! We stayed in a Wigwam and was told we could get it from 2pm however when we arrived at 3. 30pm the wigwam wasn't ready, hadn't been cleaned! The site was very quiet (the English school holidays hadn't started) because of this the shop had limited opening hours, and the 'heated' outdoor pool wasn't open although this is stated on their website! The pool did open once the english school holidays started and it was freezing!
Reception - one girl was lovely and couldn't do enough the other couldn't care less!
The new bar - watch what you get charged coz it's certainly not what is on the drinks list on each table! They wanted to charge me £2. 40 for 2 half pints of blackcurrant cordial and water! The staff their had prices for those who stayed on the park and prices for everyone else.
The shop - well stocked and very reasonable and lovely staff.
Things to do - Tennis ( take your own rackets), pitch and putt (no holes for the golf balls), the adventure playpark has two pieces of equipment with thought, this space could be made much better for the older kids!
We visited Penrith, The Rutters Waterfall and Kendal whilst there, other than that we read!
The bakers in Appleby is fantastic, delicious ice cream too!
We spent most nights in our wigwam and the weather was fine whilst we were there so the kids made their own amusement.
The site filled up when the English school hols started and if you've got a large family tent this site is maybe not for you.
The kids enjoyed their time here but don't think we will be returning.
