The site is very easy to find. We were greeted in the restaurant by very friendly staff on arrival. We were given all revelent information then drove onto the site. We had booked a standard pitch, and told we could choose the pitch. All the pitches are hardstanding with ehu, water and a drain. After setting up we had a look around. The toilet/showers housed in a portocabin which we knew before we booked. On inspection were found to be perfectly clean, although we do use our own. These were cleaned twice a day, with plenty of hot water (free). A fenced off field with a gate and bin on site so can let your dogs have a run around off lead. While we were there the work had already begun on the new facilities block. The site was very peaceful and friendly. During the week we visited the Moody Cow a few times. We always felt welcome, service good and food really tasty and good value. The site is ideally situated for visits to some lovely places and beautiful beaches. We found the owners and family very friendly and helpful. The only things I missed on site were wifi and laundry facilities, but this will be done at a later date. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and have now booked again for later in the year. The site will be amazing when fully established.

After following this site for over a year on their FB page I took the plunge and booked to stay at the beginning of May. First impressions were not good, the owner is not at all friendly and the farm dogs were running around loose.

Anyway we pitched on the hard standing after removing rubbish and made sure nothing was touching the grass as per instructions.

Went to find the toilet facilities and was shocked by the state of them, dirty with no proper handwashing facilities and the showers appeared to not have been cleaned for a long time.

On checking the cafe/pub we found it has only a 3* rating so didn't eat there but the look of the scotch eggs and quiche I think they are homebaked as opposed to homemade. The staff all looked thoroughly fed up so we didn't bother to even stop for a drink.

1 night was enough for us and we left early the next day - the atmosphere is not welcoming, most of the guests appear to be long term residents.

There are plenty, more friendly sites around the area to use and are the same price or cheaper.

Situated about 3 miles south of Aberaeron (10 mins from pitch to town, driving) First Impressions were good, greeted on the driveway by a young girl who stopped what she was doing to come and say hello and tell us where to check-in - at the sheep shed.

So off we potter to shed to be greeted with a smile and a warm welcome from a lady (owner?) she confirmed our details, spoke of our plans and gave some guidance of what to do in the area along with some directions and then walked us to our pitch with a hot tub / Jacuzzi. Meet 'n' greet 10/10

The pitch was as big as any I have seen anywhere with hard-standing, grass, elec hook-up and a water tap. We received directions on using the tub and were left to it with instruction that if we needed anything at all just ask. We elected to put our awning up on the hard-standing so used rock-pegs which are a must and we don't carry any other type. Pitch10/10

As previously mentioned, the site is currently undergoing building work and it is a on-going project. The toilets are therefore currently situated on the far site and are of the mobile type, a mobile divided into men and women's toilets and the same for the showers. Each of these were clean incidentally. (these were more than adequate for the 8 or 10 units that were on site but in busy times queuing would be inevitable. ) Many camping units have their own toilet facilities I know, but if you don't then it might mean a 100 - 150 meter walk to the toilet units, which ain't ideal at 2. 30 am in the horizontal rain. It's worth noting that there were no dishwashing facilities on site BUT we were offered the use of the cafes dish washer if needed. So due to the pokey nature, distance of the toilets along with no hot water in the hand basins I will give - 6/10

All-in-all we really enjoyed our break due to the hot tub and to be honest we'd return to the site in it's current condition before the new facilities go on line. Once the facilities are built though the place will be brilliant, I just hope there are no price hikes as this is at the limit of what I'd be willing to pay now, even with the Hot tubs.

Summary:

Location is a bit far out of town, will be a truly great site once the infrastructure is in place, it has lots of rough field space, to run your dog. The pitches are a very good size but no play area for children. The private hot tubs are a really good novelty feature and for a quiet relaxing break I recommend Bargoed Farm despite its current short-comings.

We stayed here just for the one night. We had originally booked 2 but cancelled one due to reading lots of bad reviews and thinking £80 was too much for just 2 nights stay. I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There is nothing really on the campsite other then the hot tubs for entertainment but it meant the campsite was nice and quiet, and the showers/ toilets were tiny outbuildings but they were well kept, warm and clean so felt comfortable using them. The hot tub was 40 degrees and amazing, so relaxing it had jet settings and different lighting. It kept us warm all night even when we went to bed because our bodies were lovely and warm. The only downside to this campsite is that there is no shop for snacks: drinks, no WiFi and no service on our phones so we couldn’t contact Home or look for nearby places to visit, and of course the tent had to be put on the gravel which was so difficult to get the pegs into (our mallet even broke!) then we ended up leaving some pegs behind as we couldn’t get them out of the ground and some we had bent so not great! Very quiet area, owners lovely, nice little break. However £80 is a stretch when there is nothing else apart from a hot tub to enjoy. Maybe £30 a night would be more reasonable? We’d come back if they sorted the WiFi and let us pitch on the grass and we’d happily pay the £40 a night price, look forward to hopefully returning in the future.

It started well. We found the site easily - it's on the A487 between Aberaeron and New Quay - were given a very friendly greeting, escorted to our pitch and shown how to use the private hot tub, which was really lovely. They're of a good size with unlimited hot water and are covered, so you can enjoy them in all weather.

The rest of the site though? That wasn't so great.

A new building was under construction when we visited and I understand that this has since opened as a farm shop and café. I just hope they've put some new furniture in it. At the time of our visit the café consisted of some sofas and an old burger van in the corner of a barn, with some kids toys in another corner. To be honest it all looked like it had come from house clearances or car boot sales.

Elsewhere, the roads and hardstanding pitches are surfaced with very coarse hardcore material - erecting an awning doesn't need rock pegs so much as dynamite and after being open for less than a year depressions were starting to form, which filled with water as soon as it rained.

I realise that a lot of investment has been made to create the site out of a working farm. I understand that it made sense to get the hot tub pitches right and open those first to generate some return. I accept that the progress of development of the site has been hindered by the health of the owners' daughter, who is diabetic and at the time of our stay, was heavily pregnant. And I can forgive the fact that the toilets and showers are in portacabins given that the site has no mains drainage.

But I really can't forgive the chemical waste disposal facilities, which are nothing more nor less than a big covered pit. This looked, and smelt disgusting and to my mind would be unacceptable on a small 5-van site, never mind one where pitches with hot tubs cost £45/night.

I really hope though that the owners can continue to make improvements over the next few years and would be happy to return if this happens. In the meantime I wish them well.

The site is new, as such it is a work in progress. The owners have big plans and there is some large construction going on for a new cafe and play area.

The site is easy to find off the main road to Aberaeron. A few nice beaches within an easy drive. The track leading up to and around the site is quite bumpy.

The pitches are an ok size, depending on the size of your outfit. The grass gets very wet after rain.

We welcomed the fact you could get meals, snacks and drinks on site but the old cow shed doesn't feel like the most hygenic of places to eat.

The hot tubs are a great novelty and we found it a relaxing addition.

We didn't go into the teepees but at first glance the material seems thin but they may be heated.

A nice site but overpriced for what it is right now.
