We stayed here over the half-term weekend and had a very nice time.
The weather was pretty awful which you can expect at the end of October, but there is some great sight-seeing within easy driving distance and places to visit such as Buxton, Bakewell Ashbourne and Matlock Bath. There are also numerous caverns, Chatsworth House and Carsington Water Reservoir to add to your list.
We were met on arrival after dark at reception and shown to our pitch, and staff were friendly and helpful.
The toilet blocks were pretty well kept, considering the weather and the fact that there was a Mitsubishi Owners Club rally that weekend, and showers were nice and warm. The rally members were great, by the way, very friendly and no excess noise.
Carriages restaurant across the road is fantastic. We were here for my birthday, so we splashed out a bit, but £100 including drinks for 3 adults and 2 children isn't too bad, and I reckon the food and service is as good as I have ever had. You also get a 10% discount for staying on the camp.
We would use the camp again if we went to that area, although we might try for better weather and lighter nights. It's centrally located and you could stay for a week or more and do something different every day.

Had a great time at this campsite, facilities were adequate for the pitch price, shower / toilet block was very clean and kept that way, shop was well stocked, staff were very friendly and helpful. On arrival we were shown straight to our pitch with no delay. Kids had a great time, some fantastic wooded areas for them to play in and plenty of grassed areas too. For the price we paid I cannot fault the site very good value for money, will definitely be using it again!

Just come back from a weekend camping with a group of consisting of 4 adults and 10 children. We were shown to a corner in the bottom field so we could put out tents up where we liked. Weather had not been too good so ground was a bit muddy, however this did not stop the kids playing in the small wooded areas behind the tents. The main bottom field area looked nicely kept. Shower Blocks are dated, but kept clean, and the large bin area cleared at least twice a day. A burger van arrived on Friday morning and Friday evening and also Sat morning and Sat evening and was very reasonably priced. For a site that only charged £12.25 per night, I would re-visit this site, as long as I am not put on the top field as this is too steep which you can see as you drive through the site.

The facilities are good with plenty of very hot water. They were kept clean even with everyone wearing wellies.
There is a small shop on the site selling the essentials. Even a small 'burger van' at various times.
I suppose it got a bit muddy with the rain but you can't blame the owners for that.
There was one noisy tent on the first night which raised a couple of complaints. This was swiftly dealt with by the owner and they were removed from the site for the following night.
Very close to Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock but there did not appear to be much within walking distance. But my walking distance isn't very far anyhow!
The children's play area could do with updating.

We just spend a weekend at Newhaven giving our new Outwell Idaho L a leg stretch before departing on our summer holidays.
The pitch was plenty big enough to accommodate us and the car, although the pitch was a little undulating, surely you must expect that in Derbyshire? On site shop was adequate, bread and milk etc. Good value pitch with electric point and site staff were extremely helpful and did not interfere. Facilities were in need of an update and expansion in my opinion, but never seemed to get busy, maybe as there were quite a lot of caravans on site. Little play area for kids aswell. I would give it another go.

Ok there are lots of reviews on here already so I'll be concise
Toilets and showers very clean no shortage of hot water and free
Washing up undercover, water very hot plenty of sinks so little queuing
Shop well stocked and prices reasonable for a camp shop
Staff very friendly can't do enough for you
Most people including the staff are very dog friendly
Two camping fields one (the top field) on quite a slope and noisier than the bottom field(where we camped) which is much flatter and set away from the statics and most of the touring caravans. No marked pitches they just request that you are at least 10m away from your neighbours.
Carriages restaurant across road (with a shortcut through the trees off the bottom field if you are too idle to walk far) lager no more expensive than at home. Staff were lovely they brought out a drink of water for the dog without being asked
And the most important part for many-price £12.50 for tent (ours is quite large 7m at its widest point) up to four people and the dog.
Can't fault it and yes we will be back.
