We spent a wet, cold weekend in April here.

Having read reviews of this site we were somewhat disappointed. Yes the site is clean & tidy. The staff are friendly & helpful. The location is stunning.

What the reviews did not say is the touring area is on top of a hill. This is not good when staying in a campervan. Although we moved to a slightly flatter pitch we spent the whole weekend walking up hill & not being able to use our cooker.

We thought the site was expensive, it was £25 per night for us in camper van. The family members, who joined us, were charged the same for a night in a tent, with no electric hook up!

The shower block was clean, tidy & well maintained, with free showers. But a lack of water pressure meant the water come out of shower at a dribble, very disappointed as the appearance of block is very nice.

In order to use the laundry facilities we had to carry washing down a steep hill & back up after wards, as the laundry is next to reception.

The site has too many rules, there is a list of them on the shower block. We felt we could not relax as we had to keep constant watch over our dog, grand children & whisper after 10pm.

Do not intend on returning to this site.

Wonderful site!

Arrived not knowing what to expect as a first timer using a local site as a trial run before venturing further afield and could not have been more warmly welcomed. The receptionist was helpful and chatty and gave me some good tips on general tenting etiquette and how to make life a bit easier. The warden then took the time to show me to our pitch personally and showed us the amenities which seemed well looked after and clean. Then he even showed me where I was going wrong with my tent!

As a local to the area I know Buxton but there was a great range of leaflets and information on things to do around and in town. The only thing that put a damper on the stay was the weather but I suppose you can't expect miracles!

All in all a lovely site and I hope the main event lives up to the taster we had!

Arrived to a really friendly reception which was genuine and informative. We were shown to our pitch which was great, well spaced out on hard standing with bit of grass to the side. We had fantastic views of the viaduct and the surrounding countryside.

The water point was close and the toilet block just a minutes walk. There was a family bathroom plus good sized toilets and shower room which had free flowing hot water with places to put and hang things. It was absolutely immaculate. It had fresh flowers and piped radio music with hairdryers soaps and creams - lovely! The site was busy but really quiet at night. Its in a great spot for getting away from it all and being able to walk into town.

Plenty of variety of pubs, shops restaurants, gift shops and places of interest. If you want to have a nice meal then try and book early cos they get booked up we went in the Chinese which was good value and tasty. Taxi's are cheap too £3.50 right into the site. The site is easy to find and no problems with access.

This is a gem of a site in a lovely part of the country, would definitely recommend to anybody. The only people I might hesitate to recommend to is young families as there didn't seem to be a lot to do for little ones which suits us as a couple just fine.

This is a lovely campsite. There appears to be a lot of seasonal static caravans but there was also plenty of tents pitched around.

The scenery of the viaduct and hill was lovely and the facilities are good. The toilets/showers are kept clean.

There was some noise until 12 pm on the first night despite the warning sign of no noise after 10 pm.

There's a morrisons at the bottom of the road which is ideal and Matlock and Bakewell are all within a short drive away.

We also visited the East Midlands Discount shopping village which was excellent!

Had a lovely week here. Just about managed to get our caravans up the hill to the top pitches with a lovely view of the viaduct. Train mad children very excited when an occasional freight train went over.

Lots of people keep their caravans on site here and many around us were not in residence, however one or 2 with tv's in awnings were a bit loud quite late on at times.

Quite close to a rat run of a road with a bit of road noise which is a shame.

Showers and toilets are checked regularly. The showers are proper and not push button ones! Hooray!

There is a little play area but too far away for little one to explore by himself. However, he enjoyed scootering up and down the roadway and round the roundabout!

I had my 40th birthday here and the wardens delivered me some flowers ordered by my family. So will remember this place!

Would definitely return!

I visited this site for a week on my own with my 8 year old son, we had a lovely time despite the weather. Even though it was just the 2 of us we felt very safe, the site itself was very pretty we managed to pitch on one of the Terraces leading up to the top field. The ground was quite sloppy but we managed to pitch to minimise the affect.

My son loved the little pool room and play park and once we were back from our days out I hardly saw him as he was off with the other children playing.

The toilet facilities were always clean, they were coded to get into which was a bit high for my son, he could reach the ladies just but not the men's.

Staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way one evening when the site was very quiet to keep my son entertained.

There were plenty of places in Buxton to eat and take aways, but we tended to eat when we were out and about.

We would use this site again if in the area.
