We were a little apprehensive having read earlier reviews. We have spent the last 6 months preparing our first van which we bought cheap off eBay, and wanted somewhere close to home to take her (an us) on our Maiden voyage into the mysterious world of caravanning.

We needn't have worried, our arrival and check in we're straight forward and the girl on the reception desk was most pleasant, told us where the tourer area was and said we could set up anywhere. We picked a gravel hard standing with bags of room for our van and car alongside. It's lucky the site was quite empty on our arrival as it would have been quite tight reversing onto the pitch had the site been busy. Electric hook up alongside and fresh water 20 yards away. Pitch not level and took a rookie like me quite a while to ge t somewhere near level. (n eyed to invest in some good wedges).

Toilet and shower block 40 yards away and entry controlled by keyfob (£10 refundable deposit). Very clean and with loads of hot water, however shortage of loo roll throughout our weekend stay.

Didn't use club but did have a look into family bar and games room. A few machines, a football table and a couple of pool tables but no cues. All looked clean and would probably have a good atmosphere whe n busy. Could not hear any noise from club at night, but was woken by the great sound of the local birds.

Site shop shelves were a little empty but plenty of good shops and supermarkets a short drive away.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, our 8 year old son loved the play facilities although a little more green space where he could play football and frisbee would have been welcome.

The road leading up to the site is a good test of the tow cars clutch and brakes and will certainly shake stuff up in the caravan, but no fault of the site.

Thanks for a relaxing weekend.

We will return in the not too distant future.

We were on a grass pitch and although we have only just come out of winter, the grass was not muddy just a little soft in places.

There are water taps every few yards around the touring area, so no long walks to fill the aquaroll.

The toilets and showers are clean and modern, good hot powerful showers with electronic sensors rather than the push tap. A good couple of minutes per wave of the hand.

The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, it is a site to let your hair down and have fun rather than sit in silence.

For those with kids there are a couple of areas of play equipment and on sunday there was an easter egg hunt

Just got back from a long weekend at three rivers. I enjoyed myself there like we did last year. The shower rooms are clean and tidy and so are the toilets, can't say about the pool, never been in but my friend and her son did. The shop well stocked with toys and sweets. The cafe they have a new lady in there this year, her food is very good. There was 10 of us eating and it wasn't a problem for her, everything was nice and hot, didn't have too wait long, priced reasonable. Such a lovely lady. The bar area is nice, if the manager could smile he would get more people in. There was two young girls behind the bar, they were very chatty and nice. It does not cost anything to smile or talk to the punters. Overall about the park is they could do to do up their hard standing caravan pitches and level them out

We visited this site on 01/feb/13 and were a little disappointed, this use to be a great site for camping or caravanning but I feel that its gone down hill in the last couple of years. Firstly we were charged £36 for 2 nights only to find that the van next to us were charged £20 for the same stay. Also found the electric kept tripping off after checking with other caravanners we found that this was common for everyone on site. There were no lighting at all on the site. So all in all we felt a little cheated and very much doubt we will be back

Like many others reading the reviews in particular ones from 2011 we were a little nervous about coming to this site. You should never believe what others say or the new owners have definitely made a difference as the site is lovely. Open, green, clean, lovely staff clean hot showers, of particular note was the food the new owner of the cafe prepared which was excellent. If there is a sour note its the late opening of the bar, 7:30 is a little Victorian and not what you would expect from a holiday park. With that said we will be coming back next year for longer than a weekend.

After reading mixed reviews on here we decided to give it a go. It was only an hour and a half from home so we thought we could pack up and go if it was dreadful!

But it really wasn't.

It's a nicely-laid out site with a green, open feel. The tent/touring part is definitely the 'down-market' end of the site - but the same is true for a lot of sites. That said, the facilities for the tents & caravans are good.

The showers are hot and clean - and free - and we never had to queue, despite being there on a busy August weekend during a rare spell of good weather.

Our pitch was excellent, level, close to a water supply and not far from all facilities. Other caravanners were friendly and approachable (we couldn't unhitch our caravan from the car and our neighbours helped!).

We didn't use the club or grandiously-named 'Poolside Cafeteria' as we went away to get away from it all and didn't fancy the noise, the plastic chairs or the unsupervised children. We sought out local village pubs and eateries, which were wonderful.

We did chance the pool on the Sunday evening, after most of the families with children had gone home. It was wonderful to have the pool to ourselves and we enjoyed it. Apart from the staff. We didn't know where to pay and there was no-one around and no notice.

We wandered into the bar and a barmaid told us we could go in but the pool was closing in half an hour. We said that was fine and asked the price - £3 each. I queried if it was still £3 so close to closing time. She shrugged and said that was the price, take it or leave it.

We stumped up and were glad we did. The pool wasn't warm enough but was nice. The one shower cubicle afterwards was insufficient but we didn't mind sharing!

The big downside was that all the lights were out in the changing rooms when we left the pool. They were on a sensor so came on after we started walking in there but for someone like like me with mobility problems that was a bit of a health & safety risk.

The biggest downside for us was the noise on the site. We stayed there because my husband was competing in an archery tournament on the Saturday and Sunday and he had to be up early each day. But the revelry from the tents near us stopped us sleeping until gone 12:30 each evening. There are signs around the site asking people to keep the noise down after 10pm, so the owners do try, but it could do with policing a bit more.

We were also a little unsettled by the groupings of tents. It's nice for big families and groups to go away together but when they turn the site into something looking like an anti-capitalism protest it is going a bit far.

We enjoyed walking around the static caravans and residential lodges. Lovely people on that side of the park.

We would probably go back but perhaps mid-week next time.

PS The dog loved it. Met lots of other nice dogs and found tons of good things to sniff. But he would prefer it if parents educated their children about not approaching strange dogs. Especially cute little fluffy dogs who dislike being patronised.

PROS:

Clean, nicely-laid out, good facilities for tourers.

CONS:

Noise, over-priced swimming pool, difficult approach roads, a little expensive for pitches (£21pn).
