This site is just wow. Fab location, toilets and facilities very very clean. Never a queue. Kids loved this so much they have asked to go back next year for a week instead of going abroad. Manchester rail travel return off peak for 2 adults and 2 children 10. 20p. Bloke who does the rounds on a morning is more than helpful, brought as old something or other to prevent water and mud being trailed into our tent after heavy rain during the night. Will be returning without a doubt, and pub in nearby village equates to 5. 00 per head. What more can you ask at 14 per night for all 4.

Just had 4 wonderful nights at this site. Only 25 minutes from home, were pleased to just get pitch with electric somewhere! as it was a bank holiday. The largest field was open so we easily found a nice pitch.

We were pleasantly surprised by the site and facilities, although I have to say the toilets on the field we were in were not the best, basically two loos in a lockup! No soap in there which we thought was a bit lacking in this day and age and only a cold water tap. Room for improvement there although the other toilet/shower facilities on the site were great. I guess if we were to go again we would ask to be located closer to the other loos.

Anyway, that's the negatives over with. The site is so relaxing, right at the side of hollingworth lake which is very popular for tourists. Access onto the lakeside walk is via a stile and then 20 yards ahead is the path. Lovely walk round the lake with two pubs along the way. We ate at The local chip shop, very good value for money and also ate at the amusement arcade which was also very good value.

The owners very helpful and friendly, small shop which stocked the essentials on site and there is a park which although not part of the site, is accessible from the site over a wall. Our kids loved it. Loads of room for them to ride their bikes too and although cycling is restricted on the residential section of the park there was no restriction in the camping areas.

Just up the hill from the site is a riding stables which offers hacks at a very reasonable price (10 per child for 3/4 hour). Well worth it for our 2 and we followed them round so enjoyed a nice walk too.

All in all we were absolutely delighted by this site, it was so relaxing, even on a busy bank holiday weekend. And fantastic value for money! 14 per night inc hookup. No surcharge for bank hol and no minimum night stay which is very unusual.

We will be back very soon

Great but basic campsite. The field that we were on was very flat and consisted mainly of tents. There were 2 toilets located on this field that were in a converted portacabin. They were basic but clean and well stocked. There is a newer toilet/shower block which is a short walk from this field.

We had really good weather so it was great for the kids to be able to play on a fantastic kiddies adventure type playground which is situated just outside the site.

The camp shop is very well stocked and quite reasonably priced.

Whilst the site was quite busy it was not over noisy even though there was some sort of youth group camping in tents just across from us.

Everyone was really friendly and the place had a great atmosphere.

It's only about 5 miles from where we live but we felt like we could have been anywhere in the country.

We enjoyed it so much we are going back next week!

Just returned back from a two night weekend stay at this site.

We have been previously, around two years ago but with a caravan. We booked here as everywhere else was full due to the hot weather. We were told it was a two night minimum stay. 14 a night for two adults, two children, a dog and EHU - it has been this price for years so fair play to the owners!

We were a little surprised upon arriving Friday teatime to find all the pitches very close together and they still squeezed more people on!

Nice level pitch and they now have two toilets in the field which is handy for the kids. Showers in the newer block were fine, 50p for 15 mins. Washing up - useless! They used to charge 20p for red hot water. It's now free and lukewarm. Would rather pay the 20p.

Handy little shop, however last time we went they sold me Calpol that was two years out of date! They were mortified however and very apologetic :-)

Plenty of room for the children to play football and water fights went down a treat! There was one large group who were very noisy on the first night until 3. 15am. However the next night you could hear a pin drop so we assume they were warned.

It's horrendous for midges and this made sitting out at night unbearable at times. All came home bitten.

All in all, for 14 a night you cannot grumble however do expect noise! Cheap and cheerful :-)

We booked for 2 nights with my brother in law and sister in law. This was our second visit. Mostly flat with electric hook ups. You can see the Motorway but couldn't really hear it

Two extra toilets on field are acceptable. But only cold water. The main shower block is very clean with showers and sinks.

We met 2 lovely ladies who live on site and one of the owners lovely guy.

In walking distance to lake with its pubs and cafe's. We didn't have our grandchildren with us but plenty room for kids to run around and a park very close.

However we had a very large group pitch next to us who woke me up late Saturday night when he shone his torch at our tent, then he unzipped my tent and stuck his head inside Screaming !

This has made me nervous of going back.

Only selected this site because we couldn't get in anywhere else as bank holiday was coming up. When we booked we were not told what time to arrive. We arrived at 12. 45pm and went to book in but reception and shop are closed between 12. 00pm and 2. 00pm. I did phone the two numbers we had which both went to voice mail and no one rang back so we had to wait.

First thought was we were in a transit/workmen site camp as all the other vans had large red gas bottles in front of their vans and the whole area looked neglected. Flowers beds were full of weeds but someone came end of the week and dealt with that. Turned out that they were either seasonal vans which never ever moved or belonged to people who lived there and worked every day. We were supposed to go in the paddock but I have walking problems and that was on a big slope. Anyway it turned out not too bad and the people were very friendly and knew each other.

The toilets though old were clean and no smell and lots of hot water. Didn't use the sinks as we have our own and there were no privacy cubicles. Didn't use the showers either as the shower had a fixed head very high up and it would have been a problem if you don't want to get your hair wet. Though there were clothes hooks there was no shower curtain to stop the water going everywhere and the drying area would be wet underfoot. There was a seat attached to the wall but too high up for me and no hand grabs and a step up to the shower. These may seem no problem to most but if you are disabled there are a big problem. My husband said it was the same In the men's. It was also very cold in there and the heater on the wall had a sign on it saying not to touch as it was a frost heater on timer - don't think it worked. There we also four steep steps to the toilets.

The washing up area had two sinks and looked quite good. Strange place to put a drinking water tap which was down four steep steps so you had to pull you water carrier up them.

Apart from the hill in front of the van and a hill behind that were fronted by half cut down trees there was really no view which is a shame.

The lake is beautiful and The Beach Pub was really cheap and good food. We didn't go the bank holiday weekend as everywhere was heaving and you can see why it's so popular. We went for breakfast at the Country Park but it wasn't very good and cost 4. 99 although we had a coffee and toasted sandwich another day which was good.

All in all had a good 8 days. We only came here to visit family but also travelled around the whole area. Holmfirth where Last of the Summer Wine was filmed was interesting and pleased my husband who loves the show. Went to the Wrinkled Stocking for coffee. Parking isn't good here.

We had rain every day except bank holiday but it didn't spoil our stay. In fact we had rain, sleet, snow, hail, wind and sun all in one day but my cousin told me that is normal in the area lol.

I can recommend this site though they do fall down on some things. It cost 14. 00 a night.
