This site is in a lovely area. We stayed for 7 nights. The tent area is large and you choose where you pitch. You can be near the toilet block if you wish or choose somewhere more private if you don't mind a trek. The facilities are good, plenty and clean. The laundry is good. Mobile signal minimal. Most pitches slope a little.

Some midges I'm afraid! Pine Marten bar next door is attractive and shop very well stocked and open all day and evening. Lots of forest tracks for walking or cycling. Bike hire available at Pine Marten bar. The town of Aviemore is a short drive away and can provide any goods you might need. There is a bus service from Aviemore and going up to the Cairngorm carpark from the site. You can do watersports on the lake. You can have a meal at the youth hostel opposite.

What can I add to what has already been written? A good, well equipped site in an exceptional location. Great for dog walks, gentle strolls, hill climbing or serious hill climbing - take your pick from well marked tracks through the forest or up the hills; great for beach lovers and water lovers (yep - a picturesque loch and a REAL sandy beach!); great for photographers, both landscapes and wildlife, and, if you choose the right time of year, great for peace and quiet. I suspect if you come in summer it will be the opposite and great for big beach parties. There can be few people who would not find something to enjoy at this lovely site.

Our family LOVE the Glenmore Camping in tje forest site and have visited on numerous occasions and will be back later this year. Amenities are spotless and showers hot. Peace and tranquillity in the forest area with direct access to the stunning beach around Loch Morlich. Many walks for humans and dogs direct from the site (always a bonus) and independent shop and bar on site (Pinemarten Bar has live music at weekends with the band Gilly being particularly great). Book it you wont be disappointed but ask to be pitched in the forest grass pitches to be one with nature.

This is a cracking site situated in an outstanding area just a few miles from the Cairngorm sky centre, Aviemore and is set alongside the beautiful Loch Morlich (which was frozen over during our stay) there are some lovely walks though the pine forests around the site which is teaming with wildlife (red squirrels included) the site itself has two large modern, immaculately kept facilities blocks (only 1 open out of season) the wardens were extremely friendly (Claire & Freddie especially went out of their way for us) The Pine Marten bar is situated at the entrance serving real ales and good food ! nice place will definitely be back

Lovely site, beautiful setting with great views of the Cairngorms and virtually right on the shores of Loch Morlich. Toilets modern, clean and warm. Good facilities for dish washing and laundry room. Loads of walks straight from site and only 5 miles from Aviemore. Pine Martin bar and shop closed as out of season. Site was quiet at this time of year but I think it would be VERY busy in summer! Would highly recommend site and will definitely be back!

Last time we stayed here we had 30 cm of snow so this visit was slightly warmer!

I prefer to stay on one of the forested pitches nearest to the loch but some pitches can be gloomy/wet in winter.

Without repeating previous reviews please note the adjacent Pine Marten Bar / shop is currently closed, no reopening date is posted. The cafe remains open. Bar food and drinks are available from the Scottish Mountaineering Centre, about 1 mile away (signposted).

Kudos to the wardens who were happy to loan their own personal hose so that I could rinse down the bikes (and ourselves!) following our completion the 44 mile Old Burma Road (MTB route).

This site is set in a wonderful situation. It is in Glenmore forest and close to Loch Morlich (only about 100m away). There are many forest tracks to walk ranging from short and easy to long and hard. The walk round Loch Morlich is about 5km and relatively flat. The site is relatively flat with some hard standing. There are no statics. There is a small shop immediately adjacent which includes a bar. There is also a tea room in the Glenmore Forrest center opposite the entrance. The site is about 5 miles from Aviemore which has good shopping etc. The washroom facilities are good and modern. This is a VERY busy site so there is a good bit of wear and tear on the pitches. Booking is advised.

First time here, and we will go back - but out of midgie season.

Modern, clean shower blocks, but depending on where you are pitched, you could have a wee bit of a walk to them.

Beautiful Loch Morlich, at the edge of the campsite, dog friendly Pine Marten Bar also.

Was very busy the weekend we were there, popular for water sports and cyclists.

Site wasn't busy as it was just after Easter, they have two modern toilet blocks but only one was open, the one nearest the campervans and carvans as this was busy but the toilet block nearest the tents section was shut although they did open up the washing up room because there was perhaps less than ten tents on the site when we were there. Its only a minute or two to walk between each toilet block.

Staff friendly, chatty and knowledgeable of the area, a few leaflets in the office, with the next few days weather report for those hiking in the mountains put up each day on the noticeboard by the site entrance.

The tent only section was nice clean, the grass was a short type which at that time of year was ideal for camping on as it was spongy to lie on and probably doesn't need much cutting throughout the year, its not like a 4-5inche blade of grass you might find in some cows fields, a slight incline fairly smooth with no rocks or stones sticking out, hard to get tent pegs in deep, you have to put them in at an angle because I understand they have a layer of gravel a few inches down to help with drainage which was done a few years back.

The toilet block facilities were excellent, nice hot showers even at rush hour, no charge for these, you just have to keep pushing the slow release button in to keep the water flowing, decent sized wash basins each with a mirror, washing up room each had 3 deep large stainless steel sink & drainer units with plenty of really hot water, supervise your kids if they will be washing up. Washroom had a couple of industrial laundromat type of washing machines and tumble dryers which proved efficient and useful. Also had an ironing board and iron in there too.

Dog friendly provided they are on lead like most sites, plenty of bins dotted around for rubbish and some recycling.

No playground as such for kids (which is why I have given it a 5), if you are looking for that sort of thing, but Loch Morlich is just a few minutes away with a boat and kayak hire nearby which also doubles as a cafe up stairs, so the beach (yes its got a beach) could keep the kids entertained if they like building sandcastles, but there's lots to do and tire them out with in the surrounding area anyway.

This is probably one of the best sites I've stayed at.

Easy to walk down to Loch Morlich and can walk on paths around the lake so if you time your evening walk right and head on the path by the road & car parks, looking out over the loch you can catch the Cairngorm mountains ablaze with red as the sun sets which is a nice sight catching the heather.

Plenty of paths leading from the Loch Morlich entrance so you can mountain bike/cycle around on fairly decent gravel tracks but if you want some really off roading you can head further into the hills, the Cairngorm mountain centre is only a short drive away and in the other direction Aviemore is less than a 10minute drive away if you need to pop into town and get supplies, a couple places even do mountain bike hire.

There's the Pine Martin bar which does alcohol and some food and some live music at weekends, a small shop and a boutique eatery tacked onto the shop as well which is all just off site.

Opposite you have the Forestry Commission offices where you can get leaflets of walks, a small car park and next door a YHA which does food each evening for a few hours but I think you need to book that or turn up early as it can get popular.

There's a part tarmac path & cycle path on the Forestry Commission side which takes you off past where the reindeer herd are kept, and if you head towards Aviemore there's also a Huskie sledge dog centre where you can visit and be pulled by Huskies.

There's also a Hilton hotel on the road which gives you an idea of just how much there's is to do for all tastes in the area over and above skiing in the winter months.

Planning a Xmas stay up there to get more snow time on the mountains and this will be the first site I'll have visited twice now as there's so much to do in the area along with it being a nice clean well kept site.

First of all let me say that this is the most expensive campsite that I have ever stayed on.

Having said that, the location is absolutely superb; and it is worth paying a premium price just to be there. We got a pitch with electric hookup down amongst Scots pines, just a short walk from Loch Morlich, with it's remarkable sandy beach. Loads of walking routes from the site, from gentle waymarked forest trails to the high tops of the Cairngorms! And if you keep your eyes peeled, you may see red squirrels.

Facilities were good - up until the time that the water supply failed to the nearest toilet block (to be fair, we later emailed about this and got a refund for the night).

Particularly recommend the walk NE through the woods to the stunning An Lochan Uaine and on to Ryvoan Bothy. If you are feeling fit you can return over Meall a Bhuachalille (810m).

Other useful info:
-The Pine Martin bar serve good beer, but gets busy! There's a useful small shop attached.
-The nearby visitor centre serves good food, but is NOT dog friendly(unless you eat outside). We spotted a red squirrel here.
-There are regular buses down into Aviemore, and up to the Cairngorm car park (Stagecoach route 31).
-Boat hire on the beach.
