Stayed here for 3 nights when the temperature never got higher than 0 degrees. A very quiet site with loads of space between units although where we were the hardstanding pads were only just large enough for the caravan (and awning if we had it up), the car had to stand on the grass.
Next time we will try to get a pitch in the forest as these looked to be more spacious.
Great level walks from the van door through the forest and along the Loch side and a good visitor centre across the road. Very welcoming wardens but it did take us a while to work out that the site office was only open for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening at this time of year.
The stand pipe taps had been turned off to stop them freezing, it would have been good to know this before we pitched and found that we had to cross a stream and walk a long way for water, hence 9/10 for facilities. Showers spotless and loads of hot water, no individual cubicles for washrooms.
We will definitely be back again.

Have just returned from a 5 night stay here.
This is a site in a cracking position half way up the road to the funicular railway. It has mountain bike/ walking trails galore on the doorstep and the highest beach in Britain that affords fantastic views [great if you are a keen photographer]
The facilities that we saw were top notch and absolutely spotlessly clean. We were here when it wasn't too busy so that helped a lot too.
There was plenty of space between the outfits and the site appeared way laid out. There appeared to be plenty of variety of pitches, some in the woods, some on the grass and plenty hard standing ones too [though was grateful we weren't pitched with the toilet block as our view].
The only downside for us was that we were placed in an area that was pretty water logged, which could detract for some. Thankfully I had booked us a hard standing pitch so we weren't wading too badly.
We spent time in the squirrel cafe as it is a must for us [every year we are in the area we stop here for lunch]. It is currently under going some renovation to include a bar, which will be an added bonus to some.
We will be back as this site ticks all our boxes.

Lovely site with good, clean & warm facilities and great location.
But a rule or additional cost for everything and staff were unhelpful and inflexible from the start.
We were charged £3 for arriving less than 2 hours early when site wasn’t full, the only shower block closed for 2 hours over lunchtime which isn’t good when you have kids and aren't in a caravan, they displayed a lack of empathy when our pitch flooded.
Despite the beautiful location we won’t be back to this site.

We have stayed at this site over the last few years.
The site is split into 3 areas a grass caravan and motorhome area a large general area and an area out in the woods facing on to Loch Morlich.
The site is in a beautiful location with stunning scenery. Every outdoor activity I can think of is on your doorstep and is true year round location.
The site is spacious and the facilities are very good with new toilet blocks and showers that are immaculate.
Shopping is 10 mins away in Aviemore where the shops restaurants, cafes, bars and supermarket will provide all you need.
The downside. A new manager has decided that there are no grass pitches for tents with electric hook up. They do provide 4 gravel pitches for tents next to the power distribution building. Tents wanting electric hook up are now no longer allowed in the woods. NB do not book a grass pitch with electric on line, there are none!
The tent area is the poorest part of the site an area that is prone to waterlogging with reeds growing in the field.
Another CCC operated site that appears to be running out of space for tents?

Stayed here for 5 nights in late September of 2012 in a tent. All in all was quite impressed with this site and the facilities provided there, good toilet-shower blocks with good washing up facilities and a good little laundry etc etc, all kept quite clean and tidy by the staff. Found the staff here to be good friendly and helpful when and if needed.
A few little gripes, the camping area-field for tents isnt level, and there arent many fresh water taps around, (had to walk quite a way to get fresh water), but nothings perfect. Loved the Red Squirrels that live on the site itself, many of them there, ten a penny, its the first time ive seen Red Squirrels in the wild.
The surrounding scenery is fabulous of course, mountains and forest and one loch next door, Loch Morlich, many good walks and mountain bike routes all around, and boat hire at Loch Morlich if you want it. There's a little cafe-shop up the road where you can get basic groceries and provisions, plus meals and snacks and so on, you can also get a shower there for a small fee if you need or want one.
If you don't feel like cooking in the evening you can go across the road to the hostel and get a cooked meal there, reasonable food and reasonable prices, (I tried them).
The bus stops right outside the entrance to the campsite, Aviemore in one direction and the Cairngorm Ski Resort in the other. I would recommend this site, I intend to go back for another stay next autum or winter.

What a excellent site, very spacious, and lots of great walking nearby, the toilet blocks appear brand new, unfortunately only one was open, but that seems to be the norm on these larger sites, in the lower seasons. It's a site we would definitely go to again, highly recommended.
One bug bear would be the shop which is located nearby (not owned by the site) this is very expensive, they tried to charge my husband £2.75 for a cheap can of lager, which would cost about 90p in a pack of 4, also they were selling 1 glass bottles of wine, for £2.75, so I would definitely stock up your provisions before heading to this site.
